Summary

A layered coming-of-age story from the author of I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and At Night, I Become a Monster。 (And don't miss the manga adaptation, also available from Seven Seas。)

An unhappy girl who engages in self-harm, a high schooler ostracized by her classmates, and an old woman looking to live out her twilight years in peace–what could three such different people have in common? That’s what grade schooler Nanoka Koyanagi is trying to find out。 Assigned by her teacher to define what “happiness” means to her, Nanoka tries to find her place in the world by exploring her relationships with these three strangers, and through them, comes to know herself。

I bought this because the cover is catchy (I bought the indoesia version) and it has same author as "I want to eat your pancreas"。 At first I didn't understand about the plot and found this book was boring。 But right now I already finished this book 。 This book invited us to see reality of life and grew up from point of view of an innocent elementary school girl。 Great book! This book。 I honestly didn’t really connect with the story at first。 However, it was juuust compelling enough for me to keep reading。 I’m so happy I did because it is now one of my favorites of all time。 Tears were streaming down my face as I finished it。 I truly was not expecting the story to unfold in such a moving way。 It is every bit mysterious and magical and heartbreaking and healing。 I needed to read this。 My world is much brighter and happier now。

I was very surprised by this light novel。 It is about a grade school girl who is trying to define what is happiness for a school project。 It is about her interaction with three very different yet similar women who kind of helps her develop her own views on what is happiness。 There is a little mystery and the ending was not what I expected, but in a good way。 I also enjoyed the social and emotional psychological aspects of the novel and the innocence that came from viewing happiness from a child' I was very surprised by this light novel。 It is about a grade school girl who is trying to define what is happiness for a school project。 It is about her interaction with three very different yet similar women who kind of helps her develop her own views on what is happiness。 There is a little mystery and the ending was not what I expected, but in a good way。 I also enjoyed the social and emotional psychological aspects of the novel and the innocence that came from viewing happiness from a child's POV。 Hopefully, I will have a chance to read the manga version, because I really enjoyed reading this novel。 。。。more

So, the twist is good。 I imagine Yoru is so well admirer due to their twists。In terms of story telling, I didnt really feel for the main character。 I hated her catchphrase lol。 The progression of the story is okay and handled well。 I feel like this story probably stemmed from the twist, but not enough emphasis was given to the twist minus exposition to make us actually care once we know。I would have given this 3 stars, but the girl mentioning how she feeds the cat milk almost every chapter was t So, the twist is good。 I imagine Yoru is so well admirer due to their twists。In terms of story telling, I didnt really feel for the main character。 I hated her catchphrase lol。 The progression of the story is okay and handled well。 I feel like this story probably stemmed from the twist, but not enough emphasis was given to the twist minus exposition to make us actually care once we know。I would have given this 3 stars, but the girl mentioning how she feeds the cat milk almost every chapter was triggering me。 Please dont feed cats milk unless it's cat milk。 They shouldn't drink any other animals milk, it isnt good for their digestion。 。。。more

Buku ini banyak mengajarkan kita tentang hidup。 Hidup itu seperti……“Kebahagiaan itu tidak berjalan mendekat, karena itu kita yang menghampiri”

"What is happiness?"Nanoka Koyanagi is an elementary schooler who has no friend at school。 People called her weird。 But actually, she's just smart and normal people can't understand her。 One day, Hitomi-sensei gave them task about happiness。 She wants to give a smart answer, so she thinks about it thoroughly。 And while searching for what happiness is, she encounters with an unhappy high schooler who does self-harm, a wonderful woman with a weird name and job, and a granny whose baking are tasty。 "What is happiness?"Nanoka Koyanagi is an elementary schooler who has no friend at school。 People called her weird。 But actually, she's just smart and normal people can't understand her。 One day, Hitomi-sensei gave them task about happiness。 She wants to give a smart answer, so she thinks about it thoroughly。 And while searching for what happiness is, she encounters with an unhappy high schooler who does self-harm, a wonderful woman with a weird name and job, and a granny whose baking are tasty。 Their happiness are differ from each other。 So what Koyanagi's happiness is?This is so fathomable。 30% through the book and I've known what is going on here。 Yet, it doesn't prevent me to enjoy it more。 The story is narrated by a kid, and while Koyanagi is smart, there are things she don't get yet, which is I like from the writing style (like, she acts her age well)。 I learned that when someone is smart, sometime they tend to belittle their surrounding, thinking they are just a bunch of idiots。 Thinking that they are fine by themselves。 But the thing is, no one is happy by disconnecting with people。 What is happiness? If I were asked, I'm positive that I can't give a proper answer。 An answer just as wondrous as Koyanagi wants to give。 It suddenly pop in my mind what someone said when I asked the same question。 Koyanagi has got her answer, but how about me? What is mine? What makes me happy? I can't even think about trivial one。(view spoiler)["Life is a story that you write yourself。"I guess I have to be an author or director for my life, so I can live a full life and decide what is happiness for me。 What kind of life I want to live, and what kind of a happy ending I want to achieve (surely no one wants a sad ending, right?)"Life is like the first runner in a relay。 If you don’t start moving, the race won’t ever begin。"This stabs me right on my chest。 Thinking, dreaming, and planning about future won't get me anywhere。 The first step is always frightening and difficult, but I still have to take it to start my journey。 Thinking is good, but acting is better。"Happiness is something that you have to choose of your own volition, through your own words and actions, by letting yourself feel joy and excitement, by cherishing the people important to you, and cherishing yourself。""Happiness wasn’t something bestowed upon you from without。 It came from within。 You chose it and created it with your own hands。""My life belonged only to me。 I could choose my own happiness。"So maybe, happiness doesn't just occur, it is created by our ownself。 We pick things that make us happy, and decide that they are our happiness source。Happiness is being able to do things we like and enjoying doing it。 Happiness is being appraised for what we good at or what we do。 Happiness is being able to spend money for the right things。 Happiness is seeing others smile because of the thing we do for them。 Happiness is about getting things I'm longing for so long。 Happiness is the feeling of being cared and loved。But surely, to achieve it all, I have to make a move, to start my own relay, to be happy by my own, to be a kind person, and be useful for others。 I can't get time back, and I don't know whether the road is still long or not, but I really hope that I can still make it。 (hide spoiler)]So maybe I can start by asking this simple question:Are you happy now? 。。。more

I Had That Same Dream Again is a novel makes you think deeply about the meaning of happiness and regrets in life。 This book is for patient readers as the first half of the book is not very interesting but comes in with more meaning towards the very end。 The last chapters were very thought-provoking and bittersweet。 It truly ends off the novel really well and I enjoyed the book。

We get to look through the life of a Japanese elementary schoolgirl, in which her life changes when she encounters 3 separate people。 I was attached to the book instantly, the atmosphere the writer managed to make, the unique main just made it such an inspiring read。 I could feel emotions swelling each chapter I read。 Not only the main characters, but the side characters in the book were also able to impact the story and influence Koyanagi's actions and attitude towards the people around her。 We get to look through the life of a Japanese elementary schoolgirl, in which her life changes when she encounters 3 separate people。 I was attached to the book instantly, the atmosphere the writer managed to make, the unique main just made it such an inspiring read。 I could feel emotions swelling each chapter I read。 Not only the main characters, but the side characters in the book were also able to impact the story and influence Koyanagi's actions and attitude towards the people around her。 。。。more

Tbh at first I was kinda ashamed to read that book; I mean, I‘m almost finished with High School now and it‘s about a girl in the age of a primary school student。 But after the first book I noticed there’s nothing to be ashamed about。 This book is absolutely GORGEOUS and I love it, because it makes you laugh, it makes you feel angry and at last, it even makes you cry (at least if you‘re an emotional person) and even tho I didn’t really liked the ending at first, after giving it some thought, I t Tbh at first I was kinda ashamed to read that book; I mean, I‘m almost finished with High School now and it‘s about a girl in the age of a primary school student。 But after the first book I noticed there’s nothing to be ashamed about。 This book is absolutely GORGEOUS and I love it, because it makes you laugh, it makes you feel angry and at last, it even makes you cry (at least if you‘re an emotional person) and even tho I didn’t really liked the ending at first, after giving it some thought, I think it’s very cute。 I‘m not going to sum it up here, because the summary is up there and I think it‘s everything you need to know at the beginning, but the book is full of deep questions of life。 Nanoka has to find out a lot and also to try to understand how other people are feeling and I suppose that’s something I absolutely loved about the story。 To not always think about yourself, but also to learn how others are thinking or seeing the world out of their perspective。I highly recommend it and don’t ashamed, it‘s really worth the read!! 。。。more
