Short and snappy, but has a positive and helpful message!

I see a lot of negative reviews here but honestly I liked this book a lot。 It's like a starter guide to saying yes to things in life that can give you that extra nudge to say yes to more opportunities and adventures。 It being broken up into different sections of life means that you're not getting more of one over another。I'll definitely be giving this a go I see a lot of negative reviews here but honestly I liked this book a lot。 It's like a starter guide to saying yes to things in life that can give you that extra nudge to say yes to more opportunities and adventures。 It being broken up into different sections of life means that you're not getting more of one over another。I'll definitely be giving this a go 。。。more

One of many good books I read! Very simple guideline to improve our quality of life。 We are all bombarded by social media’s these days and that made us never believe in ourselves。 The book gave me the simple practical solution that I can actually start it today。 Simply。。。say YES。

Nothing special。 It's 160 pages but really it's like。。。maybe 50? Full of images and quotes, it's uplifting sure but not very deep。 I'd say it's okay for someone who is reading a self-help book for the first time。 To dip their toes。 Nothing special。 It's 160 pages but really it's like。。。maybe 50? A self-help crackerjack。 No deep insight。 Feels like a compilation of self-help book titles。

I brought this book when browsing the shops in the beginning of this year, I've only just gotten round to reading it! At first reading the intro of this self-help book I felt oh my goodness what have I brought! But I've preserved with it and thank goodness I did because this is going to hopefully help me become a better confident person who goes for what she desires。 I brought this book when browsing the shops in the beginning of this year, I've only just gotten round to reading it! The Power of Yes is also clearly marketed as an inspirational book to buy on a whim。 I actually picked it up off of the public library shelves on a whim。 Sure, it's kind of a self-help type of book, but somedays, one is in the mood for a light inspirational self-help type of read。 Author Abbie Headon includes a story example of someone who said "yes" in his or her life, a motivational quote (and there's nothing wrong with reading something motivational if it helps to move beyond reading into act The Power of Yes is also clearly marketed as an inspirational book to buy on a whim。 I actually picked it up off of the public library shelves on a whim。 Sure, it's kind of a self-help type of book, but somedays, one is in the mood for a light inspirational self-help type of read。 Author Abbie Headon includes a story example of someone who said "yes" in his or her life, a motivational quote (and there's nothing wrong with reading something motivational if it helps to move beyond reading into action), and a "Yes Lab" with each section。 The nice part about calling these "labs" are labs are made for experimenting。 So, if the motivations and experiments lead one to actions for good, then possibly this book is worth saying "yes" to for less than twenty-four hours。 (I started it on one day and finished it the next without staying up all night。) Three stars。 。。。more

Had some good ideas。 But, I’ve read better。

Quick read that covers the basics of positivity and personal growth。 There's nothing deep diving into the topics for guidance, but each section skims the surface。 Ok if you're starting out with books to better who you are。 Quick read that covers the basics of positivity and personal growth。 There's nothing deep diving into the topics for guidance, but each section skims the surface。 Ok if you're starting out with books to better who you are。 。。。more

This book took me 14 minutes to flip through。 I felt like I was reading a 20-something blogger's advice on colorful pages with lots of bold print and 50 point font; it definitely has visual appeal。 It has good overall advice: take risks, travel, don't let your inner critic get you down, step outside of your comfort zone。 Perfect for young people who need a nudge to live life a bit。 This book took me 14 minutes to flip through。 I felt like I was reading a 20-something blogger's advice on colorful pages with lots of bold print and 50 point font; it definitely has visual appeal。 It has good overall advice: take risks, travel, don't let your inner critic get you down, step outside of your comfort zone。 Perfect for young people who need a nudge to live life a bit。 。。。more

This book reads much like an infographic with all the diverse fonts and patterns and bolds and colors。 It bleeds sunshine and endless fluff which is a turn off for about 90% of the folks I know。 It’s got some good quotes but largely feels unsubstantive。 Good stuff to remember but not really a deep dive。 The inspirational stories chosen were almost all of women (a good change of pace for once)。 The “tune out the critics” parts were also golden。 Left me with a “wait, that’s it。。。” by the end。

I had a mixed feeling about this book。 First of all, I felt like this book was trying to be like all self-help books and often was very cliché, things that were said in this book I have heard before。 I did like that it was a positive book and really placed emphasis on taking care of your mental health。 The format of this book was aesthetically pleasing and easy to read, yet I didn't really enjoy this book。 I could tell that it was trying to be more inspiring and seemed like it was trying too har I had a mixed feeling about this book。 First of all, I felt like this book was trying to be like all self-help books and often was very cliché, things that were said in this book I have heard before。 I did like that it was a positive book and really placed emphasis on taking care of your mental health。 The format of this book was aesthetically pleasing and easy to read, yet I didn't really enjoy this book。 I could tell that it was trying to be more inspiring and seemed like it was trying too hard at times, but at the same time I didn't hate this book, I didn't feel like I was dragging through something so terrible that I couldn't take it。 No, with this book I felt like it was an okay book, but not my cup of tea。 I wanted there to be more, there needed to be something, I don't know what, but something。 It felt like a book that would be sold in Urban Outfitters。 It didn't have the substance or depth that I was searching for。 Well I am looking forward for more reviews to come in about this book。 。。。more

I Read, Therefore I Blog

Abbie Headon is a writer and editor who has written this superficial, simplistic and ultimately unhelpful book that aims to give readers the ability to put the spark into life and achieve their goals but ultimately is a mix of bland checklists, empty affirmation statements and brief biographies of famous people who have a vague link to the point of the previous chapter such that I didn’t really see the point of it。
