Summary

This series has me in a chokehold and I like that cassian and nesta weren’t written like feyre and rhys BUT a little underwhelming with the battles/drama。 Practically no twists。 Way more action in ACOTAR series。

An incredible installment in this series。 The departure from Feyre as the main character was welcome, and I would listen to five more books about Nesta and her Valkyries。

No words for how much I adore this series, and this book did not disappoint。 I only wish it was not such a long wait for the next one!

I'm really conflicted about this book, so this review is to try and figure out how I felt about it more than anything else。。。(view spoiler)[I loved the fact that Nesta got a happy ending。 She's my favourite character in this series, and though she might have ended up happy, it genuinely broke my heart to see how the other characters treated her in this and in ACOFAS。 She was treated like a child, locked away, dictated to, and controlled。 Not a single member of her family bothered to notice how d I'm really conflicted about this book, so this review is to try and figure out how I felt about it more than anything else。。。(view spoiler)[I loved the fact that Nesta got a happy ending。 She's my favourite character in this series, and though she might have ended up happy, it genuinely broke my heart to see how the other characters treated her in this and in ACOFAS。 She was treated like a child, locked away, dictated to, and controlled。 Not a single member of her family bothered to notice how deep her trauma and grief ran。。。 why did nobody think to question why she was suddenly so on edge around fires? Cassian thought it was "strange" but。。。that's it? What about her being terrified of water and baths? What about Feyre promising they’d help her and find another solution in the third book? That clearly never happened, did it, because one of the first things we’re told in this book is that Nesta was left to face that alone, battling it herself by forcing herself to sit in ice cold water for months。 And they wonder why she doesn’t want to be around them? And that's not even the worst of it。。。 No paintings of her in Feyre's new house? Elain being an utter bitch to her the whole way through? Rhysand threatening to kill her because she told Feyre about the dangers of her labour? How horrific is it that a magic house is kinder to her and more understanding than any of her family have been? A magic house she unwittingly made herself?I could rage for days about her treatment in this book, because it was awful, and upsetting, and uncomfortable to read。 And Nesta apologised to them at the end? She gave up everything, gave up part of herself, and was still made to fucking apologise to the very people who made her that way in the first place。 I'm so glad she found her own friends, because she needs someone to have her back。 I also very much enjoyed the scene with Rhysand kneeling before her, because I despised him in this book。 It wasn't an apology by any means, but it was so satisfying to know that it was Nesta, who'd just spent the past 600 pages being insulted, judged, and mistreated by them, who saved their arses。I hated the fact that she started using the term "mate"。 I hate it anyway - it's just unnecessary - but she literally said she wasn't comfortable with using the word。 She wanted to hold on to her humanity; she wasn't ready to let go of that。 She said she didn't want to。 She shouldn't have to let go of that, but, of course, she does, because these books are obsessed with "mates"。 That said。。。 I liked Nesta and Cassian together。 They had very good chemistry, and if he'd just been consistent all the way through, I wouldn't have minded them at all。 But one minute he's saying he can take whatever she needs to throw at him, that he'll go at her pace, that he knows its a huge adjustment and knows that she's trying so hard to live up to what they expect of her。。。 and the next he's screaming at her in public because she doesn't want to call him her mate。 Right。I also hated pretty much every other character in this book。 Cassian I could just about stand when he wasn't being a twat, and I did like Azriel。 Gwyn and Emerie were lovely (and I swear to God if Azriel ends up with fucking Elain over Gwyn I'll be annoyed)。 But I honestly don't know how much I'd want to pick up the next book in this series, because there isn't any other character I care enough about to read an entire book from their perspective。 I guess we'll have to see what - and who - the next one is about and go from there, but this book just really made me dislike pretty much fucking everyone who isn't Nesta。Ugh。 And yet。。。 it was an entertaining read。 The series as a whole is generally entertaining, as much as it infuriates me。 It's not well written, and the plots are pretty predictable。 But I guess I did kind of enjoy this。 Kind of。 It was nice to see Nesta happy, and I liked seeing her and the priestesses grow and develop and overcome their own trauma together。 So。。。yeah。 Still not sure how I feel about this book on the whole。 I guess about 3, 3。5 stars? Maybe? Who knows。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

This book made me laugh, cry, and yell “holy crap” many times。 I was honestly a little bummed when I started this book and it wasn’t centered around Rhys and Feyre, but Nesta and Cassian’s story now holds a special place in my heart。 ❤️

Y’all can say what you want about this book, but I fucking loved it。 I love more reading about someone’s personal healing when overcoming trauma—and Nesta’s broke my heart。 I’m going to leave this as a spoiler free review, but let me just say…The。 Spice。 I warned you🥵 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS 🌶🌶🌶🌶/🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶FOUR OUT OF FIVE SPICE

It’s a good thing this wasn’t the first book in the series。 While it wasn’t horrible per se, it was by the weakest thus far。 The new threat was not very fleshed out and it’s getting tedious that thee are always newer and scarier magical objects and creatures no one’s ever mentioned before。 As for Nesta, she hasn’t been my favorite character thus far。 It was obvious this story would find some way to redeem her, and that’s fine, but she’s still not someone I’m dying to read a lot about。 But really It’s a good thing this wasn’t the first book in the series。 While it wasn’t horrible per se, it was by the weakest thus far。 The new threat was not very fleshed out and it’s getting tedious that thee are always newer and scarier magical objects and creatures no one’s ever mentioned before。 As for Nesta, she hasn’t been my favorite character thus far。 It was obvious this story would find some way to redeem her, and that’s fine, but she’s still not someone I’m dying to read a lot about。 But really the problem with this box was the insane amount of way too descriptive sex。 I mean, I’m no prude。 I don’t object to a scene or two now and then, the previous books in the series had their moments and those were entertaining and all that。 But this one read like somewhat repetitive erotica。 Enough, already, I’m here for a good fantasy story, not to… we’ll, you know what I’m saying。 Way over the top, and borderline pornographic。 I hope future books in the series (assuming there are any, which it seems like there will be) don’t follow this trend。 。。。more

Great book。 Didn’t brush past all the shitty things Nesta had done in the past, but acknowledged them。 I understand that people don’t really like her, but this book showed a lot of struggles with mental health, and someone who uses sharp words to protect themselves。 It was interesting taking a look into Nesta’s mind and see how much she was struggling with her mental health, and it brought a lot of clarity to her character。 overall amazing book

Nesta’s journey was devastingly beautiful。 It touched my heart in my places I never thought it would。 And I nearly cried my heart out when I read the aknowledgments “that you are loved, and that you are worthy of love, no matter what”。 In the beggining of the series I didn’t like Nesta, I hated her。 And reading this book, I found out why。 I was just like her, to afraid of feeling love that I pushed everyone away。 This book was like a hug to myself, to my heart。 And a reminder that everyone deser Nesta’s journey was devastingly beautiful。 It touched my heart in my places I never thought it would。 And I nearly cried my heart out when I read the aknowledgments “that you are loved, and that you are worthy of love, no matter what”。 In the beggining of the series I didn’t like Nesta, I hated her。 And reading this book, I found out why。 I was just like her, to afraid of feeling love that I pushed everyone away。 This book was like a hug to myself, to my heart。 And a reminder that everyone deserves to love and to be loved。 。。。more

4。5/5 stars。 i knocked off that half because i wanted there to be more of a fight at the climax, but other than that it was FANTASTIC。 Absolutely amazing book。 Went in HATING Nesta with every fiber of my being and left loving her more than i love Feyre。 Such a good story about hope, healing, friendship, love, and understanding。 Haven’t we all been Nesta at some point or another? Haven’t we l built walls around ourselves to prevent us from being seen as too weak or vulnerable? A wonderful story of Nesta and her journey to overcoming deep depression and self loathing。 I wished for a little more action (but the 🌶 seemed to be in place of that for the first 3/4 of the book)。 Overall an amazing book and story!

Only gave this book 4 stars because my man Cassian had no business being this fine。 His relationship with Nesta is the only thing saving this series。

i- i just have no words。 this book is amazing! ever since Cassian and Nesta first found themselves in a room in acowar, i've been waiting for their moment to come。 their story definitely deserves a whole book imbued with their feelings, emotions and strengths。 I love them terribly! the book has proved to be my lifeline in recent days。 I couldn't think of anything else, and at every convenient moment I opened it again and again。 I don't know how I'm expected to move on to another book now 。。。 I f i- i just have no words。 this book is amazing! ever since Cassian and Nesta first found themselves in a room in acowar, i've been waiting for their moment to come。 their story definitely deserves a whole book imbued with their feelings, emotions and strengths。 I love them terribly! the book has proved to be my lifeline in recent days。 I couldn't think of anything else, and at every convenient moment I opened it again and again。 I don't know how I'm expected to move on to another book now 。。。 I feel in a similar way after every book that has left its mark on me but 。。。 this is about something that has been the object of my longing for a long time。 Sarah is superior!! 。。。more

I wanted the story, but did not want all the sex。 These books were never about sex and am disappointed that it went for money of the erotic genres instead of continuing the genre it was in。 If I wanted to read that genre, I would purposely look。

Sarah J。 Maas definitely doesn't disappoint。 A well written sexy fantasy book we all expect from her。 Compared to Feyre's story Nesta's story involves a lot more "fucking" than "love-making" which was a bit disappointing。 However the main reason for the 3-Star review is the anti-climactic ending which reminds me of Game of Thrones。 It is not what the book was building up and not what the well thought-out ending would look like。 Nevertheless I devoured the book as I did the other books in the ser Sarah J。 Maas definitely doesn't disappoint。 A well written sexy fantasy book we all expect from her。 Compared to Feyre's story Nesta's story involves a lot more "fucking" than "love-making" which was a bit disappointing。 However the main reason for the 3-Star review is the anti-climactic ending which reminds me of Game of Thrones。 It is not what the book was building up and not what the well thought-out ending would look like。 Nevertheless I devoured the book as I did the other books in the series。 。。。more
