Summary

From the New York Times bestselling author behind The Unhoneymooners comes a delightfully charming love story about what happens when two assistants tasked with keeping a rocky relationship from explosion start to feel sparks of their own。

Carey Douglas has worked for home remodeling and design gurus Melissa and Rusty Tripp for nearly a decade。 A country girl at heart, Carey started in their first store at sixteen, and—more than anyone would suspect—has helped them build an empire。 With a new show and a book about to launch, the Tripps are on the verge of superstardom。 There’s only one problem: America’s favorite couple can’t stand each other。

James McCann, MIT graduate and engineering genius, was originally hired as a structural engineer, but the job isn’t all he thought it’d be。 The last straw? Both he and Carey must go on book tour with the Tripps and keep the wheels from falling off the proverbial bus。

Unfortunately, neither of them is in any position to quit。 Carey needs health insurance, and James has been promised the role of a lifetime if he can just keep the couple on track for a few more weeks。 While road-tripping with the Tripps up the West Coast, Carey and James vow to work together to keep their bosses’ secrets hidden, and their own jobs secure。 But if they stop playing along—and start playing for keeps—they may have the chance to build something beautiful together…

This is a great feel good book。 With romance, i am absurdly used to high highs and low lows, so it was strange that this book hovered around the middle of that the entire way through。 Strange, but actually nice。 The emotional whiplash was not present in this book, and while i do often look for that in a book it was refreshing to read something that was definitely more mellow。 Along those lines, the ending was also incredibly mellow, and this is both a complaint and praise in this case。 A complai This is a great feel good book。 With romance, i am absurdly used to high highs and low lows, so it was strange that this book hovered around the middle of that the entire way through。 Strange, but actually nice。 The emotional whiplash was not present in this book, and while i do often look for that in a book it was refreshing to read something that was definitely more mellow。 Along those lines, the ending was also incredibly mellow, and this is both a complaint and praise in this case。 A complaint because i was looking for that picture perfect happy ending that always happens with romance, but praise because it felt much more realistic than that picture perfect ending。 I like that there was still room for exploration in C&J's life。 I like that not everything had to be figured out by the end of the book。 And I liked to see the personal growth journey of C, and that she was continuing to grow。 Overall, this book was peaceful。 A good read to calm your mind with。 Perfect to cuddle up with on a cold day。 。。。more

The audio version was great!

Not my fav by CL。 The story felt bland and rushed。 I also did not feel a connection between the main characters at all。 If we’re being honest, it’s probably more of a 2。5 star read for me but I’m feeling generous。

Dorothy

Light and breezy。 I don’t watch HGTV but I liked the fictionalized tie in an HGTV like show。 Fun escapist book。

Sheryl

Not deep but entertaining

All I wanted was for Carey to get all her work ambitions realised。 I mean the romance was fine! But I was way more into the Carey/work part of it。Also I'm remodeling my home right now and so I enjoyed the setting way more than I usually would。 I want all the furniture in there。 All I wanted was for Carey to get all her work ambitions realised。 I mean the romance was fine! This book was refreshingly different than what I expected。 I appreciated that the plot showed how famous people are often totally different in real life than they are when on public display。 When Carey, the assistant to two such people, has to try to manage their public profiles, she discovers that sometimes that is nearly impossible。 Her stress level is sky-high when she is sent on a trip with them, and only her colleague James, whom she hasn't care for much, at least to this point, helps her m This book was refreshingly different than what I expected。 I appreciated that the plot showed how famous people are often totally different in real life than they are when on public display。 When Carey, the assistant to two such people, has to try to manage their public profiles, she discovers that sometimes that is nearly impossible。 Her stress level is sky-high when she is sent on a trip with them, and only her colleague James, whom she hasn't care for much, at least to this point, helps her manage what is happening。 Carey and James discover that despite what the famous couple does, they have a growing attraction that makes the situation a little more bearable。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I really like the book, yes it was predictable but I love just sitting reading something that is simple, predictable without having to worry about too much thought。 It's the best way to just relax from a long day at work or tiring week。 Plus, I seem not to get enough of Romcom type books。 I fly through them faster than any other kind of book I read。 Mix it up in between other is the best recipe。 Lol I could have done without the porn scene it was a little too much details for me but I'm sure my I really like the book, yes it was predictable but I love just sitting reading something that is simple, predictable without having to worry about too much thought。 It's the best way to just relax from a long day at work or tiring week。 Plus, I seem not to get enough of Romcom type books。 I fly through them faster than any other kind of book I read。 Mix it up in between other is the best recipe。 Lol I could have done without the porn scene it was a little too much details for me but I'm sure my out there loved that part the most。 Lol 。。。more

The Honey-Don't List is the third book by Christina Lauren that I have read。 This book centers around, Melissa and Rusty Tripp, a celebrity home renovating/decorating couple (think Chip and Joanna) who aren't as happily married as they would have everyone else believe。 This is a problem because they are about to go on tour in support of their book about having a wonderful marriage! James and Carey have been tasked with managing the Tripps during the tour to ensure the façade stays in place and nothing newsworthy ends up on TMZ。 Carey has worked for the Tripps since she was 16 and is more than just an assistant, she is now the one who designs the original pieces the couple showcases。 James is new to the operation and supremely overqualified to just be an assistant so he initially comes across as a bit of a jerk。 Along the book tour James and Carey grow closer through their adult baby-sitting duties。I enjoy the occasional home design show so I was definitely here for the premise of the book。 I think the split focus between Melissa/Tripp's marriage and the budding romance between James and Carey ended up making this one a bit lite on the romance that I've come to anticipate from the co-authors。 Didn't love the police interrogation scenes。 Ultimately, while it may not have been as witty of a rom-com like The Unhoneymooners, it was still an easy read and I'll continue working my way through the rest of Christina Lauren's books!True Rating 3。5 stars 。。。more

I would actually give it 2。75 stars。 It was a quick, mindless read which is good at times。 A romance novel, which I didn't realize when I started it。 I don't mind romance in stories but this one was a little much 😐 I would actually give it 2。75 stars。 It was a quick, mindless read which is good at times。 A romance novel, which I didn't realize when I started it。 I don't mind romance in stories but this one was a little much 😐 。。。more

SO CUTE! I'm obsessed with the main characters, but their love did seem a bit rushed。 I also don't think the police interview bit was necessary。 Overall, cute and solid romance! SO CUTE! I was in a book funk until I read this。 I kept picking up and putting down books。 I have 20 books marked as currently reading because I just can't get through a book, but finally I have。 The first book I ever read from Christina Lauren was In a Holidaze, and I really loved the writing。 This book although it isn't my favorite romance of all time, and the steam factor was just okay, it sucked me in。 I found the premise of the book fantastic, the writing was great, the plot was entertaining, the ro I was in a book funk until I read this。 I kept picking up and putting down books。 I have 20 books marked as currently reading because I just can't get through a book, but finally I have。 The first book I ever read from Christina Lauren was In a Holidaze, and I really loved the writing。 This book although it isn't my favorite romance of all time, and the steam factor was just okay, it sucked me in。 I found the premise of the book fantastic, the writing was great, the plot was entertaining, the romance was angsty and sweet, and the conflict and resolution did not make me angry like most romances do。 Like I said there was just a little something lacking that doesn't make it 5 stars, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the book。 It got me out of my slump! I'm surprised this doesn't have great ratings, but I would recommend it。 。。。more

3。5 stars I finished this one in one sitting。 It was on audiobook。 After reading The Hating Game,I feel like it has destroyed me for every other rom com。 So I saw many mixed reviews about this one。 I just wanted something light and funny so I could have something breezy at my mind numbing job。 I was not disappointed。 I like how everything developed between Carey and James。 It was a little bit cliche in many things but hey, aren't all rom coms kinda cliche nowadays? This book was a fun, light-hearted, ~steamy~ read that Christina Lauren are so well known for。 If you like their other books, you will definitely like this one too! The main characters' bosses are clearly meant to be a knock-off version of Chip and Joanna Gaines (who I absolutely adore) and I loved reading all the crazy stuff those two got up to behind-the-scenes (but if Chip and Joanna are actually like this, I will be CRUSHED)。 The banter between Carey and James was witty and endearing and I l This book was a fun, light-hearted, ~steamy~ read that Christina Lauren are so well known for。 If you like their other books, you will definitely like this one too!
