Discover what a symphony is。 Who Beethoven was。 What happens when a conductor takes the podium and faces of the orchestra。 And when you should and shouldn’t clap。
Here is a unique, interactive introduction to the world of classical music, presenting one of the most famous symphonies ever written, by one the most famous composers who ever lived。

With its 19-button sound panel, you’ll hear the different parts and voices of the music—the beginning of Symphony No。 5, the melody, the harmony, the sounds made by a violin, a viola, a cello, a double bass, and more。 And you can even sing along。

Note to parents: The secret to raising a child to love and appreciate classical music isn’t a secret at all。 You just need to listen with your child and be a willing explorer。 Talk about what you hear。 Marvel at the sounds。 Try to identify the instruments—and have fun with it!

This book is an excellent introduction to the orchestra for preschool children。 Readers watch three mice attend a concert of Beethoven's 5th Symphony。 Throughout the book, which has a short, simple text, are numbers which correlate with the numbers on the sound panel attached to the right side of the book。 The child will be able to hear the sounds of tuning, the very beginning of the 5th Symphony, and the main theme of the symphony。 Also included are brief descriptions of the most familiar of th This book is an excellent introduction to the orchestra for preschool children。 Readers watch three mice attend a concert of Beethoven's 5th Symphony。 Throughout the book, which has a short, simple text, are numbers which correlate with the numbers on the sound panel attached to the right side of the book。 The child will be able to hear the sounds of tuning, the very beginning of the 5th Symphony, and the main theme of the symphony。 Also included are brief descriptions of the most familiar of the orchestral instruments, which also have accompanying sounds on the sound panel。 The back matter includes an essay by the author, "Raising a Child to Love Classical Music," a brief bio of Beethoven, and the acknowledgments。 。。。more

Three little mice attend an orchestral concert and learn about how the different instruments work together to create beautiful music as they play Beethoven's 5th Symphony (That's the famous one that goes da-da-da-duh)。 The mice learn about the concertmaster, the conductor, and all the sections in the orchestra。 They learn about tempo and dynamics and themes in music。As each instrument is introduced, the reader can push the button to hear music played by that instrument。 What makes this really sp Three little mice attend an orchestral concert and learn about how the different instruments work together to create beautiful music as they play Beethoven's 5th Symphony (That's the famous one that goes da-da-da-duh)。 The mice learn about the concertmaster, the conductor, and all the sections in the orchestra。 They learn about tempo and dynamics and themes in music。As each instrument is introduced, the reader can push the button to hear music played by that instrument。 What makes this really special is that the recording plays the exact music that is in the illustrations next to that instrument。 If there is a staff drawn next to the oboe playing G, F, E, D in the Treble Clef, then we hear the oboe play those exact notes in the recording。 This kind of attention to detail is what makes this book truly special!(The only instrument recording that does not follow the music written in the book is the trombone, but you know how trombonists are。 They rarely follow the rules! haha!)The illustrations are really lovely, with a crayon art style that manages to feel cute and elegant at the same time。 The little mice are so adorable! They are always doing something funny in the background。 I also appreciated that the musicians in the orchestra are a diverse group of people。Favorite line in the entire book, "Music is like a conversation。 。。。 Sometimes the brass have something to say。" haha! Cracks me up。 Yeah, they do, and they love shouting it in everyone's ears。 Love me some brass humor。There is a small biography of Beethoven in the back of the book。 There is also a section of the book that encourages parents to "make great music the language of your house", and there are many ideas and tips for teaching your child to love classical music。I just love the way this book makes classical music fun and interesting for children, introducing them to a whole world of beautiful music。Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author in exchange for a free and honest review。 All the opinions stated here are my own true thoughts, and are not influenced by anyone。 。。。more

Wonderful book。 Great use of interaction with the sidebar of music。 The music is great and the content to what an orchestra is, what instruments are, and how a concert is conducted is a perfect intro。

Such and enjoyable book to read。 We checked it out of the library today and the librarian said she didn't know they had that type of book。 I was surprised too, as I'm used to this type of book having horn noises or Elmo or some non-essential sounds just because。 In this book each term/instrument is explained within the text and the sounds are important in illustrating the point。 My kindergartner listened and waited until we got to the number in the story to pressed the corresponding button, whic Such and enjoyable book to read。 We checked it out of the library today and the librarian said she didn't know they had that type of book。 I was surprised too, as I'm used to this type of book having horn noises or Elmo or some non-essential sounds just because。 In this book each term/instrument is explained within the text and the sounds are important in illustrating the point。 My kindergartner listened and waited until we got to the number in the story to pressed the corresponding button, which was surprising too。 We had a great time with the book。 At the end we took turns closing our eyes and guessing which instrument the other person pressed。 The sounds are low quality but the experience over all is just wonderful。 Highly recommended。 。。。more

A thorough but accessible description of the symphony。 Tackles different aspects of music as well as an orchestra, with music snippets for each。 My 2 year old loves the French horn now。

This book is perfect and landed on my door at the right time, as I had just been at the symphony and my son was asking a lot of questions about that the symphony was and what instruments are included in it! This book is so cool and I cannot wait to share it with him!!! It has buttons to press that make the sounds of each instrument! Plus a great story that goes with it! This will be a hit under the tree this year! 5 stars!

Who knew you could introduce children to orchestral music through a book? The sound reproduction on this book is just short of amazing。 I'm sure you have all heard the musical greeting cards but this is at least a step or few above them in sound quality。 This is a book that a parent is going to want to read with their child。 It is an interactive experience which will please both parent and child。 I recommend it。 Who knew you could introduce children to orchestral music through a book?
