I like some of the practical advise in this book like the relaxation, the power of positive thinking and visualization techniques, I already practice one of the other techniques that the author talks about in this book: living like it's your last day on Earth。 It seems kind of macabre way of thinking but in truth it makes it easier to put things into perspective and learn to prioritize。 You realize quickly what really matters in life and what doesn't。 I realized this when my father passed away; I like some of the practical advise in this book like the relaxation, the power of positive thinking and visualization techniques, I already practice one of the other techniques that the author talks about in this book: living like it's your last day on Earth。 It seems kind of macabre way of thinking but in truth it makes it easier to put things into perspective and learn to prioritize。 You realize quickly what really matters in life and what doesn't。 I realized this when my father passed away; I saw all the lives he touched and how they all remembered him for his humor and for a being a great friend to them。 They didn't mention anything about the car he drove, the house he lived in or the clothes he wore; they remembered him for the way he made them feel welcomed and treasured, and that's the kind of legacy I want to leave too。 I lived that way for the first few years after he passed; I didn't stress about the little things but this book was a good refresher course for that way of thinking because as it mentioned in the book, if you don't actively practice all the exercises this book teaches you, it's all too easy to slip back into old destructive habits。 This book was a great way to remember to appreciate the little things in life。 。。。more

As much as I value the message, I found the story to be extremely stereotypical and childish。

*sigh*I trudged through most of this book then had to skip-finish to the end。 Couldn’t read any longer。 No disrespect, there’s some great wisdom in this book。 It’s just wrapped in a story that made me want to do anything but read that story。Like having your veggies crammed down your throat cold。 How about a nice sauté and a little sea salt? I don’t know, it’s just desperately annoying to be force-fed ideas when the same story could lead us to our own discoveries。 Still, I love Robin’s courses an *sigh*I trudged through most of this book then had to skip-finish to the end。 Couldn’t read any longer。 No disrespect, there’s some great wisdom in this book。 It’s just wrapped in a story that made me want to do anything but read that story。Like having your veggies crammed down your throat cold。 How about a nice sauté and a little sea salt? Therefore, he started his Journey of growth and started changing his habits and lifestyle which in turn had a profound effect on his inner world。⠀This is such a great book that addresses life lessons through a fictional story and I suggest this book to everyone。 Everyone has to learn from Julian’s life journey and start their own! This is called the wisdom of personal change。 To be self-aware of our own problems, look for different ways to solve it and it is okay to seek help from others and accept knew thoughts。 Change shouldn’t be scary。 Change is good。⠀ 。。。more

It felt like matrix。 Where one would just ask for a skill and it would be uploaded instantly into one's mind。 The book starts innocently, simple language and good premise making you hook onto it。 Then like a flash it punches ton of philosophy into you at a staggering speed。 Imagine yourself dip into that cold swimming pool early in winter morning。。。 But after the heavy hitting of philosophy you would still feel light and more aware。 A good start for anyone who wants to understand self。 It felt like matrix。 Where one would just ask for a skill and it would be uploaded instantly into one's mind。 The book starts innocently, simple language and good premise making you hook onto it。 Then like a flash it punches ton of philosophy into you at a staggering speed。 Imagine yourself dip into that cold swimming pool early in winter morning。。。 But after the heavy hitting of philosophy you would still feel light and more aware。 A good start for anyone who wants to understand self。 。。。more

I wanted to read this book for a very long time。 However, when I finally got a hold of my copy, I very quickly found out that this unfortunately wasn't for me。 I agree with the life-lessons presented in this book and in general there were some really good points in this one, but I didn't enjoy the way the story was presented。 The story is basically two lawyers talking to each other after the other, named Julian, has gone through a spiritual awakening。 Julian is presenting his ideas of better liv I wanted to read this book for a very long time。 However, when I finally got a hold of my copy, I very quickly found out that this unfortunately wasn't for me。 I agree with the life-lessons presented in this book and in general there were some really good points in this one, but I didn't enjoy the way the story was presented。 The story is basically two lawyers talking to each other after the other, named Julian, has gone through a spiritual awakening。 Julian is presenting his ideas of better living to John, who is listening to Julian all night long。 Even though Julian is having some quite deep truths about life, the discussion itself is really flat。 That's what bugged me。 It took me quite a long time to finally finish this book because the way this book was written didn't awake any emotions in me。 I do recommend this book to everyone, though - it definitely has some really good lessons that everyone could use to improve their quality of life。 。。。more

The book goes on in a communicating process between two lawyers John and Julian。 Julian was a rich and successful lawyer having lavish lifestyle。 He thought he has most of the knowledge about the real world。 After his massive heart attack all his miss conceptions broke。 He realised he is lacking something in his life。 Then he went to Himalaya thinking Himalayan monks are wisest。 Only they can solve all his queries and give his life a new meaning。 So he sold his mansion, plane, his private island The book goes on in a communicating process between two lawyers John and Julian。 Julian was a rich and successful lawyer having lavish lifestyle。 He thought he has most of the knowledge about the real world。 After his massive heart attack all his miss conceptions broke。 He realised he is lacking something in his life。 Then he went to Himalaya thinking Himalayan monks are wisest。 Only they can solve all his queries and give his life a new meaning。 So he sold his mansion, plane, his private island and also his Farrari。 After Three years Julian comes back from there and now he looks very young and a relaxed person。 Then he explain how he overcome all his spiritual exhaustion and his journey to self understanding。 Important things to learn from this book。1) Always keep your cup of knowledge empty。 There are lots of things unknown yet。2) Push yourself a little harder。 Success comes when you cross your self made boundaries of fear。3) Do one thing at a time with complete focus。4) Maintain discipline。 Focus on only good habits。5) You ultimately get what you give。 So the line is quite justified "The quailty of your life comes down to the quality of your contribution。6) Appreciate others。 Practice grattitude。 7) Use your time well。 Don't let it go vain。8) Always try to think possitive。 Skip over thinking。 Have qualified thoughts。9) Practice mindfulness。 Spend time to understand yourself。 This book won't teach you anything new than the other self-help books。 It is because books won't teach anything new they just reminds you what is important。 This books has changed so many lives。 It is a good book if you are distracted from your motive of life。 Amazing one。 You will feel really good after finishing reading。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was excited to see how the monk's journey turned out。 I was expecting to see how John bypass the difficulties to become a monk or spiritual man, instead I found a babyish storytelling of the results he had from his journey being spoon-feed to his fellow lawyer。 Could have been better but I liked the idea anyway。 I was excited to see how the monk's journey turned out。 I was expecting to see how John bypass the difficulties to become a monk or spiritual man, instead I found a babyish storytelling of the results he had from his journey being spoon-feed to his fellow lawyer。 Could have been better but I liked the idea anyway。 。。。more

Common self-help principles told in an uncommon way - a story about an ex hotshot lawyer, sharing life changing principles, with his former colleague, that he learnt and used to improve his life。 I liked the way how each each principle was attributed to a symbol and how it was re-iterated in each chapter as a fable。
