Summary

How far will one warrior go for the power to protect her Clan?

Since her kithood, Leopardfur has believed that she would one day save RiverClan from destruction, a belief based on a prophetic dream her father once had before he became a medicine cat。 Under Crookedstar’s leadership, she is proud to become first a strong warrior, then deputy, fighting fiercely to protect RiverClan’s territory from the encroachment of their enemies。 But when the rise of Tigerstar shatters all semblance of peace among the Clans, Leopardstar, now leader, comes to make a decision she fears will be unforgivable。 Determined to fulfill her destiny and lead RiverClan to greatness, Leopardfur must finally find the balance between maintaining peace among the Clans and protecting her own…

This book, really gave a lot more background to LeopardStar and why she made some certain moves in the series itself。

Leapordstar's honor was pretty good when she was an apprentice and kit。 because it was apart that we didn't see in the original arc but when she was the leader everthing that happened was already in the original arc, this made the parts boring for me because I already know everything that happened in the book the Frogleap relationship seemed completely unnecessary (Leopardstar didn't need a love interest,) but I thought it was handled fairly well, but their break up to me seemed to boil down to Leapordstar's honor was pretty good when she was an apprentice and kit。 because it was apart that we didn't see in the original arc but when she was the leader everthing that happened was already in the original arc, this made the parts boring for me because I already know everything that happened in the book the Frogleap relationship seemed completely unnecessary (Leopardstar didn't need a love interest,) but I thought it was handled fairly well, but their break up to me seemed to boil down to the fact that Frogleap wanted kits and Leopardfur didn't, and Leopardfur being really busy as deputy was just sort of the catalysis which made him realize this, but not the reason that they broke up。 One of my favoraite part was leapordstar's relationshop with whiteclaw (her friend's kit) because in the original arc leapardstar blamed graystripe (a thunderclan cat who mated with a riverclan cat who is also crookedstar's kit) After whiteclaw's death in the original arc I always wanted to dig deeper in the relation between leapardstar and whiteclaw。 Overall this book was good but, if the author could write more about the life after the things that happened in the original arc the book would be more interesting for warrior fans。 。。。more

There were a few small inconsistencies from the other books, like the things some cats say are slightly different between books, and how in some books some words were considered thunderclan words, and that is now ignored

This is a really good book which shows how Leopardstar changes over time and how important it is to listen to the people who only want the best for you, even if you are not do not agree, and at least let them tell you why they think you should do something。 It was really great as in the main series we see Leopardstar be a cold and hostile warrior, but in this book it shows how she really feels like and it really made me understand her choices, like when she does everything that the villain says This is a really good book which shows how Leopardstar changes over time and how important it is to listen to the people who only want the best for you, even if you are not do not agree, and at least let them tell you why they think you should do something。 It was really great as in the main series we see Leopardstar be a cold and hostile warrior, but in this book it shows how she really feels like and it really made me understand her choices, like when she does everything that the villain says it shows her as cruel in the main books but here it shows that she was actually being controlled by him; she made a mistake by trusting him。 I would recommend this book for people aged 8+。 There is death in this book but it is very exciting。 。。。more

How many more years will I keep forgiving the Erins for their editing mistakes?Apparently, at least one more。 ❤This epic series has brought the greatest joy into my life。 I love it, errors and all。

I really wanted to enjoy this one 。。。。 but I hated it with passion。 I felt no sympathy for Leopardstar and she is still my least favourite character to this day。 She was boring, she was sloppily written, her redemption was garbage and I hated how full of mistakes this book was。 It felt like nobody proof read it before it got thrown into the stores。

I have to say that I was a little disappointed with this SE。 Usually I devour anything Warrior Cat, but I struggled thru this one。 I was more so hoping for a Blackstar SE。 It was an ok read。

Overall, Leopardstar's Honor is a great addition to the Warriors Super Editions。 While Leopardstar has never been my favorite cat, her backstory is still incredibly interesting to read! I loved getting to see all these parts of Clan history from a new perspective。 I felt like they did an amazing job making Leopardstar relatable and I can see now why she did what she did。 I enjoyed this book a lot。

This was a really enjoyable Super Edition! It feels a lot like the older Super Editions (i。e。 Bluestar's Prophecy, Tallstar's Revenge), which is a good thing because I personally think the older ones have a charm to them that a lot of the newer ones lack (I'm talking post Hawking's Journey)。One such example of this book being good and reminiscent of the older Super Editions is the constant interaction with the character's Clanmates。 Newer Warrior books in general have the Clans feeling a lot less This was a really enjoyable Super Edition! It feels a lot like the older Super Editions (i。e。 Bluestar's Prophecy, Tallstar's Revenge), which is a good thing because I personally think the older ones have a charm to them that a lot of the newer ones lack (I'm talking post Hawking's Journey)。One such example of this book being good and reminiscent of the older Super Editions is the constant interaction with the character's Clanmates。 Newer Warrior books in general have the Clans feeling a lot less like a community because of the lack of communication between the main characters and them (as well as there being tons of cats in Clans now)。 For example, aside from characters who appeared in Omen of the Stats or before (and former main characters), we don't KNOW what their personalities, interests or role in the Clan are。 What does Dewnose do? I don't know, beats me。 He exists I guess? While 'Leopardstar's Honor' doesn't fix this issue completely, the Clan does feel a lot more like a community。 Leopardstar is constantly seen interacting with her Clanmates, and it's a nice change of pace from the newer books。The pacing of the book was also good。 There were never really extremely boring parts, as there was always something interesting going on, whether it was a battle, a death or even just Leopardstar developing a relationship with other characters。 Even though the plot was basically 'The Prophecies Begin from Leopardstar's perspective', it was still enjoyable。However, there was a major glaring issue of this Super Edition: Leopardstar。 I've always loved Leopardstar, but I don't like how she's constantly let off the hook so easily。 Yes, you can accidentally do something bad but you have good intentions, but that doesn't excuse the fact that you did something bad!Things like this happen quite often in the book, and it gets frustrating。 Leopardstar would mess up, another character would call her out on it, she would say that she had good intentions, and then she wouldn't be punished or anything。 Even if another character is rightfully upset at her, they get over it in like a chapter。This mindset instilled in this book can easily spread a bad message to people, especially kids, as it essentially says, "no matter how badly you messed up, if you had good intentions, then you don't deserve to be punished。"Anyways, I did enjoy this book quite a lot。 Fans of the older Super Editions would also probably like this one。 I just think that It has the potential of spreading a bad message to it's younger audience。 。。。more

The good:-Leopard had a cute dynamic with Sunfish and Whiteclaw! I thought her relationship with both of them were touching and sweet。 Her relationship with her father when she was a kit was also quite cute, it was nice to see him spoiling her because she is his special baby! -Leopard and Tiger's relationship was generally pretty well written。 I felt like it made sense why Leopard found him intriguing and believed why she would want to hang out with him。 (view spoiler)[AND their relationship was The good:-Leopard had a cute dynamic with Sunfish and Whiteclaw! It was a really good set up for an intriguing story, and I was waiting with baited breath to see where that plotline went。 Unfortunately, (view spoiler)[Leopard forgives Sky less than a chapter later (off screen!), and the fact that she spent the majority of her apprenticeship as a dry-paw is basically never brought up again after she gets over her fear of water。 Boo! (hide spoiler)]The bad:-The plot, or lack thereof。 This book was basically just a rehash of the events from arc 1, of which Leopardstar has incredibly little agency or hand in the events that unfold。 -Due to the above, I felt like the pacing was not great and reading it just felt。。。 kind of boring? It just feels like several hundred pages of filler, leading up to That Moment with Stonefur, which is anticlimatic because they actually OPEN with that scene in the prologue and then rehash the exact same scene almost word-for-word during the climax of the book。 Like。。。 okay? -Poor editing。 I was expecting this one, since the allegiances were a hot mess ((view spoiler)[Whitestorm is listed as a warrior AND as a kit, and his father is only listed as an apprentice; I'm sure there are more examples but that was the most glaringly obvious to me, and I barely even read the allegiances of these books (hide spoiler)]) but I was still disappointed。 It genuinely felt like they didn't even give it a second read-through, just wrote it, plugged it through a spellchecker, and sent it off to be published。 :/ One example of this is that (view spoiler)[Boulder and Jaggedtooth are seen in RiverClan camp talking smack about Leopardstar, with no explanation given for their presence。 And then, several chapters later, the narrator explains how Tigerstar sent over Boulder and Jaggedtooth to live in RiverClan camp! Why didn't they move that explanation earlier? I have a very low threshold for Warriors books, but this genuinely threw me off so badly that I had to go back and start the chapter over again to make sure I wasn't missing something (I wasn't) (hide spoiler)]-Leopardstar's。。。。 redemption? Character development? IDEK what to call it。 It made no sense and was poorly done。 Leads back to my first point。-Frogleap。 Everything between her and Frogleap was almost painfully boring to read。If I were to take the premise for this story and write it again, (view spoiler)[I think I would have written a story that focuses more on interpersonal conflict revolving around Leopard and her Clanmates。 Leopard feels bullied by her peers for taking so long in her apprenticeship to get over her fear of water and for supposedly killing her mom + her birth just generally being seen as a bad omen, but at the same time is almost worshipped by her father and the rest of her superiors because they feel bad for her and want to coddle her。 This fuels her desire to do well in the Clan, both because her father has told her how special she's supposed to be, and because she wants to one-up her peers。 Perhaps Frogleap ends up breaking up with her, not because of whatever wishy-washy deputy reason she gave in canon, but because he's getting sick of how much her life revolves around proving to everyone how much better she is than them。 (Maybe Stonefur is one of the only cats that is able to get on her level and knock her down a peg or two? So she has justification for liking him enough to make him her deputy?) Tigerstar recognizes this drive and manipulates her into joining TigerClan and ultimately killing Stonefur -something which she does NOT immediately regret and actually feels good and POWERFUL about! Eventually she turns her back on Tiger and BloodClan because she is frustrated at being used - maybe she even does start to feel genuine remorse at Stonefur's death and the way she drove Gray, Misty, Feather, and Storm away to ThunderClan。 But she is always an arrogant, stubborn cat, and that doesn't change just because she's decided to fight with LionClan against Scourge。 (hide spoiler)]Anyways, I feel like this was a pretty middle of the road SE。 Not great, not terrible, mostly kind of boring。 If you like Leopardstar you'll probably enjoy this book, I obviously do not have strong feelings of affection for her which made this story a bit less enjoyable to read。 。。。more

I feel like I could give this a higher rating if it felt like someone had at least TRIED to edit it before rushing it to publish。 Not only were there a glaring amount of typos, but direct conflicts in events to scenes that had JUST happened。 I had to stop way too many times to figure out what was going on because of these errors。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Okay, this is probably going to be an unpopular opinion regarding this book, just saying。 Throughout the main series, I honestly didn't really care about Leopardstar as I didn't really agree with some of the decisions she had made regarding RiverClan。 Reading her book did open my eyes as to why her thought process is the way it is。 She kinda had a rough kithood, she was constantly teased and being told that she was the one that killed her mother Brightsky。 She only had her father Mudfur。 Also, S Okay, this is probably going to be an unpopular opinion regarding this book, just saying。 Throughout the main series, I honestly didn't really care about Leopardstar as I didn't really agree with some of the decisions she had made regarding RiverClan。 Reading her book did open my eyes as to why her thought process is the way it is。 She kinda had a rough kithood, she was constantly teased and being told that she was the one that killed her mother Brightsky。 She only had her father Mudfur。 Also, Skyheart was a little asshole as a kit。 She was the reason Leopardstar was scared of the water for the longest time。 I think that she was a very good leader for RiverClan now that I have read this book and understand her thought process。 I didn't realize that she had dealt with so much loss and grief throughout her young life。 I don't usually cry with books except during rare occasions, but in this book, I completely lost it when Sunfish died and how Whitepaw had approached Leopardfur at the time and he first instinct was just to scoop him up and comfort him and become that mother figure to him like Sunfish wanted。 I understand why she was so angry when Whiteclaw had fallen down the gorge when fighting with Graystripe。 Of course you're going to be sad and angry about a clanmate dying but it was especially hard for Leopardfur。 Anyways, I am glad I read this book despite Leopardfur not being one of my favorite cats, its Warriors so of course I am going to read it。 I understand her thought process more now and don't blame her for wanting to keep her Clan safe from dangers。 She had a hard life so no cat can blame her for that。 。。。more

A worthy addition to the Warriors canon, Leopardstar's Honor does a really great job filling in more of the gaps in the story line progression of The Prophecies Begin。 It would make a great companion story to read alongside that arc if someone felt like charting out the sequence of chapters and when you could read different sections of the book。 A worthy addition to the Warriors canon, Leopardstar's Honor does a really great job filling in more of the gaps in the story line progression of The Prophecies Begin。 It would make a great companion story to read alongside that arc if someone felt like charting out the sequence of chapters and when you could read different sections of the book。 。。。more

it shows us exactly the chain of events that leads to (view spoiler)[Leopardstar's decision to ally with Tigerstar (hide spoiler)], and ultimately to let Stonefur die, and it does it in a way that makes the final controversial scenes feel authentic and real for her character, even if still unjustified。 Responsibility is placed on her early for the safety of those she loves - in the very first chapter Leopardkit is told by her father Mudfur that StarClan spared her for a reason - the reason being that one day she'd be important to all the Clans。 Throughout the story you can see how this responsibility impacts on Leopardstar and her decision-making - many of her actions are driven by a confidence that she must be doing the right thing, because StarClan said she would save the Clans。 It fuels her duty to her Clan fiercely, to the point where (view spoiler)[she and her love interest part on mostly-amicable terms because Leopardfur knows she cannot prioritize him over being deputy。 (hide spoiler)]Warriors is a series that is often criticized for its poor character development in places, but Leopardstar's character development shines in this book。 Her character moves from place to place, realizing her flaws and mistakes and working to rectify them, even if it isn't quickly enough to mean a happy ending for her or for others。 The book also clearly showcases her pride and blindness to her bad decisions (view spoiler)[that play a part in elevating TigerClan to power (hide spoiler)] - in earlier parts of the book Leopardfur challenges many of Crookedstar's decisions as his deputy and believes with all her heart that she is doing the right thing for her Clan even if her leader won't, and yet after she becomes leader and names Stonefur deputy there are multiple scenes where she is frustrated with him for disagreeing with her and undermining her authority, some of which she considers to be traitorous rather than simple disagreement。 It's an interesting thing to consider regarding Leopardstar's character and (view spoiler)[Stonefur's ultimate fate (hide spoiler)], and having this book peek into Leopardstar's thoughts and actions feels necessary and like it enhances the story given to us in The Prophecies Begin。One of the things I enjoyed most about this book was Leopardstar's interactions with other characters - her friendship with Sunfish and subsequent mentoring of Whiteclaw, which builds up to (view spoiler)[ Whiteclaw's death in Fire and Ice and builds context for her animosity towards Graystripe, (hide spoiler)] was very enjoyable to read。 It was also refreshing to see Leopardfur and Frogleap (view spoiler)[part amicably and maintain their friendship even if a romantic relationship wasn't in the cards for them。 (hide spoiler)] The characters Leopardstar interacts with have a huge impact on the way she behaves throughout the book - (view spoiler)[Whitefang and Sunfish both die as a result of a battle for Sunningrocks instigated by Leopardfur in response to Redtail's prodding, and while this alone doesn't serve to make her realize the flaws of her battle-hungry attitude it sets the stage for how the pressure of knowing she was destined to "save RiverClan / the Clans" from kithood intertwines with her decisions for her Clan throughout her life。 She holds herself personally responsible for every RiverClan death that occurs during the book, regardless of whether she could reasonably blamed for it or not, and her desire to never lose a member of her Clan again drives her to harsher and harsher measures to secure peace and safety for them。 (hide spoiler)]Mudfur and Leopardstar's relationship was a point of contention for me, though not necessarily because it was badly written。 As mentioned, Leopardstar's belief that she was spared from death so that she could save the Clans hovers behind her every decision, and how Mudfur chooses to respond to those decisions felt very uncomfortable to read。 He continually points out the flaws in her decisions, but never acknowledges how his disclosure of the prophetic dream affected Leopardstar's development from a young age and how it is influencing her decisions now。 Regardless of my problems with their communication however, it was nice to revisit their relationship more deeply after the glimpses we were given in Crookedstar's Promise。I expected the book to touch on Leopardstar's dealings with Tigerstar for longer than it did, but I can't necessarily say that the focus we did get was insufficient。 We see his charm, how he knows exactly what to say to manipulate Leopardstar and her desire to keep her Clan safe, and(view spoiler)[we see him turn on her once she's too far in to turn back without repercussions (hide spoiler)]。 You feel her helplessness, how if she chooses to go against Tigerstar then her Clan will suffer the consequences。 And while it doesn't serve to justify her decisions, especially regarding (view spoiler)[Stonefur and his death, (hide spoiler)] it provides a clarity to them that we don't get from the events in The Prophecies Begin alone。 I do sympathise with her, and I appreciated seeing her ultimately recognize her mistakes, drastic as they were。 The story we were given gave so much depth to a controversial character that, until now, we'd only seen from the outside。 Whenever I reread the first series, I'll definitely be looking at Leopardstar in a different light。 。。。more
