I listened to the audiobook version of this book narrated by Jim Dale, the narrator of the Harry Potter books。 (The previous person who narrated this book for me was my mother, when I was very young…possibly 5 or 6 years old。) it’s a classic book, but parts of it are just plain weird。 Still worth reading。

Enjoyed the book and can only imagine what people thought when they read it in the 1800s 🤣。 I wanted to read this classic because of how many times I’ve watched the movie。 It amazes me how people got a whole movie out of this book。 I’m going to start Through the Looking Glass next。

Imagine you see a rabbit and follow it down a rabbit hole, how far would you go down? Alice, the protagonist, fell into a whole new world。 "Alice in Wonderland" is a popular fantasy book about a young girl who falls through a rabbit hole。 This book is also classified as a Picture book, because pictures are added in the book to contribute to the story。 The setting of the book is set place in an imaginary world a majority of the book。 The artistic media used in the book is pen/pencil。 This book is Imagine you see a rabbit and follow it down a rabbit hole, how far would you go down? Not a huge fan of this book to be honest。 It wasn't terrible, but I can't say it was more than fine。 I don't care for the nonsense and illogical nature of it all。 Plus, Alice seems like a little brat。 Having said that, Jodie Comer reading the audiobook was wonderful so an extra star for that。 Not a huge fan of this book to be honest。 It wasn't terrible, but I can't say it was more than fine。 I don't care for the nonsense and illogical nature of it all。 Plus, Alice seems like a little brat。 Having said that, Jodie Comer reading the audiobook was wonderful so an extra star for that。 。。。more

It was ok :) i never read the book as a kid but saw a cartoon movie on it。 I never like alice, i found her to be whiney and a cry baby。 In the book she gives off the rich girl vibes and idk, i just never liked her。 The story is odd, lewis sure had some weird fantasies。 But its not a book for me。 I dont think i would have enjoyed it if i was younger either。

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland was my first Audiobook, I listened to it on a long car trip through Librivox, narrated by Kara Shallenberg。 Still not that good at keeping focus on anything, but it went aight。Looking past clothes in the wardrobe, running through a platform 3/4 the way between one and the other, and jumping in a rabbit hole。。。 Having never seen the 2010 movie the story was a beautiful jump into childhood fantasy again。 I felt like Mario, jumping up against the big question mark b Alice's Adventures In Wonderland was my first Audiobook, I listened to it on a long car trip through Librivox, narrated by Kara Shallenberg。 Still not that good at keeping focus on anything, but it went aight。Looking past clothes in the wardrobe, running through a platform 3/4 the way between one and the other, and jumping in a rabbit hole。。。 Having never seen the 2010 movie the story was a beautiful jump into childhood fantasy again。 I felt like Mario, jumping up against the big question mark box without actually getting anything, the bizarre story and it's logical fallacies, or not fallacies, I still don't get it, making the question mark above my head only grow。 I loved it, it brought me a sense of wonderment, curiosity and overall lack of understanding that was for the first time just, not annoying。Maybe due to the narration, but I often found myself smiling at the riddles and discussions Alice had with the curious cast of Wonderland。 Not even considering the ridiculousness of it all: a caterpillar smoking a hookah on a mushroom, a deck of cards playing kingdom, a trial for the Knave of the deck (I had to look it up, it is the jack)。 The general wonderment and childhood fantasy meant a lot to mean and did actually manage to make me feel all childish again。 That was probably the true value in the book for me, it gives you the overall wonderment of every, single, thing, innate to only children who get excited by you wizarding away your thumb。 It was lovely。Audiobooks? Probably not for me but for these long drives they do offer something a little more than just music, if only variation in distraction。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 I enjoyed it。 There were a few clever word play that I found entertaining, but overall didn’t feel any connection to the characters or the plot。 It’s one of those books that I’m glad I read, but I was also glad to be over with it when I finished。

Wonderful wonderful escapism。 Not a fan of the overly posh accent for Alice but I got used to it。

I appreciate the time this was written。I appreciate the ideas and creativity。I appreciate the nonsense。But I just couldn't get myself to LOVE this book。 In particular, the dialogue just wasn't my cup of tea。I think I also should have READ this story, rather than listened to the audiobook。 I don't think the audio does it much justice。 I appreciate the time this was written。I appreciate the ideas and creativity。I appreciate the nonsense。But I just couldn't get myself to LOVE this book。 In particular, the dialogue just wasn't my cup of tea。I think I also should have READ this story, rather than listened to the audiobook。 I don't think the audio does it much justice。 。。。more

For 150 years this has been a beloved classic that people just have to read? Even movies have been made and it has been embraced by Disney。 I guess I’m in the minority as I found this the most asinine thing I have ever read。 Except for famous one- liners, I have no idea why this is considered a classic and recommended reading。

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland are just as weird as I remembered。 It was also a lot of fun。 I had a good memory of the basic story going in: Alice chases a talking white rabbit who is holding a pocket watch and then falls down a rabbit hole; she eats and drinks things that are suspiciously labelled and make her grow larger or smaller; and she meets a cast of weird characters (Cheshire Cat, the Red Queen, a talking caterpillar, a mad hatter)。 All of this is accurate, but what was most pleasantl Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland are just as weird as I remembered。 It was also a lot of fun。 I had a good memory of the basic story going in: Alice chases a talking white rabbit who is holding a pocket watch and then falls down a rabbit hole; she eats and drinks things that are suspiciously labelled and make her grow larger or smaller; and she meets a cast of weird characters (Cheshire Cat, the Red Queen, a talking caterpillar, a mad hatter)。 All of this is accurate, but what was most pleasantly surprising were all the small details that I’d forgotten- the doormouse giving a history lecture in the hopes that it will dry them out; the frog footmen at the Duchess’ house (the Duchess herself!), the trial of the knave of hearts (accused of stealing tarts)。The world that Carroll creates is very detailed and wildly imaginative。 I didn’t apply any deep literary theory although I’m sure you could (who does the Red Queen represent? What is Alice’s eating and drinking of strange things supposed to symbolize? Who is the White Rabbit, really?)。 Even without a deeper analysis, I enjoyed it for the ridiculous, nonsense acid trip that it is- a nice break from the realities of 2020。In the words of that other nonsense acid trip specialist, Hunter S。 Thompson: buy the ticket, take the ride。 。。。more

It's really hard for me to give this a proper review as there has been SO many adaptions and, because of that, I knew every part of this story before actually reading it。 But, I bet it was a wonderful book to read when no one knew what was going to happen。 It's really hard for me to give this a proper review as there has been SO many adaptions and, because of that, I knew every part of this story before actually reading it。 But, I bet it was a wonderful book to read when no one knew what was going to happen。 。。。more
