I will read pretty much anything either Sejic puts out, but Stepjan's latest is really not the easiest to follow。 A human, for unspecified reasons, is able to see through the glamour of the succubus working in a local bookshop, and ends up signing a contract, except it's not the sort of contract you might expect, and succubi really don't like being called demons, despite the look。 And then we basically drop the whole angle with the mortal and get into succubus politics, and lots of them having i I will read pretty much anything either Sejic puts out, but Stepjan's latest is really not the easiest to follow。 A human, for unspecified reasons, is able to see through the glamour of the succubus working in a local bookshop, and ends up signing a contract, except it's not the sort of contract you might expect, and succubi really don't like being called demons, despite the look。 And then we basically drop the whole angle with the mortal and get into succubus politics, and lots of them having illicit sex with cupids, who are also very much not angels, honest, even if they look a lot like them, and even if I was wondering whether this whole thing had started out as a Good Omens fic, but that may just be because I don't really keep up with the whole paranormal romance field so I lack other reference points。 That illicit sex, incidentally, being considerably more explicit than in Sejic's Sunstone, which always pulled a very clever trick in terms of seeming like it was much ruder than was ever actually there on the page。 But if they get busted doing this, then it could ruin the lead succubus' chance of being promoted to arcubus, which I grant you does sound a bit like a viable contraction of arch-succubus, but so far as I've been able to find, has only ever been an alternate spelling of arquebus, a primitive firearm。 But then we're back to a plot with what I think is entirely different humans but it happens over a fair few years so it could possibly be the same woman at another time because she's going through a lot of changes。。。 Oh, and then Hades turns up, and he's very much as seen in Stepjan's wife Linda's Punderworld, so we've got a whole shared universe bit going on too。 If you're confused at this point, don't worry, because so am I; I've read it, but I really couldn't claim I followed it, even if the connections between the different strands were eventually made a little clearer。 And yet it's all so very pretty that I enjoyed it all the same, not just for the mystical entities flickering between genders on a whim, or the gorgeous butterfly wings, but for that little thing Sejic does so well, the expressions – sexy, awkward, exasperated, whatever – they're always so impossibly human, even when they're on non-humans。 The ostensible engine of the plot is a tension between love and desire as perceived opposites, and even if I think I can guess how it's going to get resolved, it feels oddly old-fashioned to go there at all。 But sod it, if that's enough of an initial push to get Sejic doing his thing, I'll take it。(Edelweiss ARC) 。。。more

Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for allowing me to review this book early。 Rating and review are my own。Fine Print Vol。 1 by Stjepan Sejic was everything I wanted when I saw this was up to review。 The art is gorgeous, the smut is fun, and the story is really interesting and had my attention the whole way through。 I am also really enjoying the lore here that feeds in to the story that mixes gods, succubi, human contracts and more。 This book starts with what seems to be the ending and then b Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for allowing me to review this book early。 Rating and review are my own。Fine Print Vol。 1 by Stjepan Sejic was everything I wanted when I saw this was up to review。 The art is gorgeous, the smut is fun, and the story is really interesting and had my attention the whole way through。 I am also really enjoying the lore here that feeds in to the story that mixes gods, succubi, human contracts and more。 This book starts with what seems to be the ending and then begins to build the setup for the main events that will lead in that direction。 The whole time I was left wondering, how do we get there? I love that kind of mystery in storytelling and with the way it left off I have to say I can’t wait until the next one! I recommend this to anyone who is looking for amazing art, sexy characters doing sexy things, while still having a great story that will grip you。 Did I mention the art is great? I love it so much。Also - tentacles。 。。。more

Hmmm。。。 The books starts with an Everywoman, a true Miranda-Hart-but-way-way-fitter type discovering a succubus is in charge of her local bookshop。 She seems to call up her own personal love demon, despite being on the asexual side, only for the "Cue End Prologue" sign。 What follows is really quite boring – guy falls for toothy girl, toothy girl becomes model, they wreck their relationship, they wreck the potential restart of their relationship, etc。But it gets much worse, and quickly。 For after Hmmm。。。 The books starts with an Everywoman, a true Miranda-Hart-but-way-way-fitter type discovering a succubus is in charge of her local bookshop。 She seems to call up her own personal love demon, despite being on the asexual side, only for the "Cue End Prologue" sign。 What follows is really quite boring – guy falls for toothy girl, toothy girl becomes model, they wreck their relationship, they wreck the potential restart of their relationship, etc。But it gets much worse, and quickly。 For after that gets to a decent mid-point pause, we jump underground to where two love demon things have an argy-bargy, but it only serves to prove the book doesn't even know its own plot。 By the time we eventually get back to the model we've long lost all interest, for this has been found out as smut in need of a story。 It's the smut a teenager would look at with eyes boggling - "wow, lipstick lesbians do exist?!" - but they'd still hate because the story was rubbish。 And it is – it has a "big failure energy", to quote out of context。 I mean there's a thing with tempting golden apples, and it so wants to know the truth about love demon lore, and about human desires too, but it's just about sapphic snogging in the finish。 This is an adult book that is not an adult book。 Many people will not care for there ever being a Volume Two。 One and a half stares。 。。。more

Saw this in the Image catalogue and was immediately interested by the cover。And let me just say, this book FUCKS。 It’s very much a “set-up” book, I was a little confused by the shift in narrator from Prologue to Chapter 1 but I got it eventually。 The art is fantastic。

arc provided by the publisher via edelweiss in exchange for an honest reviewI knew the second that I saw that this was coming out, that I needed to get my hands on it as soon as possible。 I adore the Sunstone series by this author and this one definitely held up to my expectations! This is totally bonkers and I’m obsessed。Fine Print’s first volume mainly sets the stage and introduces its many colourful characters: succubus Merryl and her doomed track record of divine contracts, broken-hearted mortal Lauren who’s spiralling into depression & destructive behaviour, and two top-tier “cubi” who are battling it out for the hierarchy’s top spot while keeping their forbidden romances with “cupids” secret。 (Well, one cupid and one cupid-turned-incubus who I love even if he was onl This is totally bonkers and I’m obsessed。Fine Print’s first volume mainly sets the stage and introduces its many colourful characters: succubus Merryl and her doomed track record of divine contracts, broken-hearted mortal Lauren who’s spiralling into depression & destructive behaviour, and two top-tier “cubi” who are battling it out for the hierarchy’s top spot while keeping their forbidden romances with “cupids” secret。 (Well, one cupid and one cupid-turned-incubus who I love even if he was only around for a handful of pages。)The hook from the blurb is actually the cliffhanger for the next issue: Lauren signs one of those contracts with Merryl, and now she’s got an incubi and succubi vying to win her over。Šejić‘s art is as stunning as always。 Everyone is so effortlessly expressive and drawing demons/magical folk is a huge strength of his。 I honestly wanted a copy just to look at the panels but found a pretty fun story inside too。 And it’s certainly a treat to see such incredible anatomy art skills on display。 Uhm, really, really on display… (view spoiler)[For some reason for a story about succubi/incubi, I didn’t expect quite so much sex。 (hide spoiler)]It has some things that are typical of his storytelling style that I don’t personally jive with, like endless circular introspection about feelings and regrets that drag the pacing to a halt。 Lauren’s plot was really at a standstill but I have high hopes that we’ll learn way more about her now that she’s integrated with the far more dynamic stories of the cubi & cupids。Also, I really appreciated like…just how gay it was? I mean, that sounds reductive, but really, succubi/incubi have so long been a trope for hetero love stories, and it was cool that there was nary a straight in sight。 Even with the cubi being able to shift bodies at will, both their main romances are same-sex, and Merryl’s original contract being doomed because she signed on an asexual woman got a smirk out of me。Now, to scurry on over to the author’s Twitter to check out more of his concept sketches… 。。。more

Wow what a ride! Another sexy, fantastical story from Šejić! This one is all about succubi, cupid, and their endeavor to get mere mortals to sign onto their contracts。 The problem is human relationsips and sexuality are complicated and sometimes contracts are just not able to be fulfilled as。。 desired。 It's a classic story, with a house divided, with sins aplenty, and a feast for the eyes。 Excited to have seen this develop on Patreon every month and looking forward to volume 2! I believe this is only the first book of the story arc。 The story development follows several character arcs that pull together throughout the book and series。 The artwork is phenomenal and the characters pull you in and really make you feel and at times laugh with them。 I would recommend following its development through the author's patreon。 He often sends out full copies as well as exclusive art related to its creation。 (Check out Punderworld beforehand for a treat。) I believe this is only the first book of the story arc。 The story development follows several character arcs that pull together throughout the book and series。 The artwork is phenomenal and the characters pull you in and really make you feel and at times laugh with them。 I would recommend following its development through the author's patreon。 He often sends out full copies as well as exclusive art related to its creation。 (Check out Punderworld beforehand for a treat。) 。。。more

I've been seeing this graphic novel pop up a page at a time (and out of order) on the author's Deviant Art site and finally bought the complete(?) book。 It's a story about cupids and succubi and humans who make deals。 There's four different viewpoint characters and this book really just serves to kind of introduce the characters and establish the settings。 The art is beautiful as always in Šejić's work。 It's an adult book (succubi & cupids, duh?) though not really explicit (ymmv) at least not co I've been seeing this graphic novel pop up a page at a time (and out of order) on the author's Deviant Art site and finally bought the complete(?) book。 It's a story about cupids and succubi and humans who make deals。 There's four different viewpoint characters and this book really just serves to kind of introduce the characters and establish the settings。 The art is beautiful as always in Šejić's work。 It's an adult book (succubi & cupids, duh?) though not really explicit (ymmv) at least not compared to Sunstone: Book One。 。。。more
