I actually was tired and didn’t want to read this book tonight but after persuasion of the 4 year old type I did and I’m glad I did。 My daughter doesn’t know a stranger much like sister bear, and this book teaches without frightening

Good basic teaching for kids。

Not exactly a cohesive lesson but cumulative of several incidents of fear。It's a real important issue for children to understand never to trust strangers。 Not exactly a cohesive lesson but cumulative of several incidents of fear。It's a real important issue for children to understand never to trust strangers。 。。。more

Sister bear talks to anyone and everyone but brother bear is more cautious。 So papa bear tells the sister that strangers can be dangerous and he even tells her a scary little story。 That night sister bear doesn't have a good sleep and gets nightmares。 When she wakes up, she keeps getting scared。 Then mama bear tells her that not everything is as it seems to be but one should be cautious。 I really liked the way this message was taught about the strangers。 I also loved the pictures especially wher Sister bear talks to anyone and everyone but brother bear is more cautious。 So papa bear tells the sister that strangers can be dangerous and he even tells her a scary little story。 That night sister bear doesn't have a good sleep and gets nightmares。 When she wakes up, she keeps getting scared。 Then mama bear tells her that not everything is as it seems to be but one should be cautious。 I really liked the way this message was taught about the strangers。 I also loved the pictures especially where sister bear was imagining things in a scared way。 An informative and delightful read。4 stars 。。。more

I am a big fan of The Berenstain Bears series, and I liked this book a lot。 I think that it teaches a very important lesson about being safe around strangers in a way that is not scary or intimidating to children, which is so important! The story has great illustrations to go with all of the events of the story and it is beneficial to children for sure。

I grew up with the Berenstein Bears, and I remember ordering the newest ones from the Scholastic Book Order catalog! This one is one of my favorites, and I think in today's society, it's profound because it shows kids that safety is one of the most valuable lessons, as well as listening to your parents (something I'm still learning about today)。 However, you can't go wrong with any of the wholesome titles, and the Bear Family rocks! This is one of many books I am planning to read and review on the topic of stranger danger in order to find the right book to read to my kiddos。 The Berenstain Bears Learn about Strangers is quite a long, wordy book and there are things about it I really like and things I don’t。 Sister is a friendly, happy, social bear who says hello to everyone she sees on the street until brother tells her not to。 This makes sister ask questions, and they decide that those questions are best for an adult。 I lo This is one of many books I am planning to read and review on the topic of stranger danger in order to find the right book to read to my kiddos。 The Berenstain Bears Learn about Strangers is quite a long, wordy book and there are things about it I really like and things I don’t。 Sister is a friendly, happy, social bear who says hello to everyone she sees on the street until brother tells her not to。 This makes sister ask questions, and they decide that those questions are best for an adult。 I love that they included that- some questions just NEED to be answered by an adult。 Sister goes to talk to her parents about strangers, and Father proceeds to scare the crap out of her by showing her the newspaper, complete with stories of missing cubs and evil strangers。 (Obviously, I didn’t love this part。 I understand that they were probably just trying to show that stranger danger is a serious thing, but I have two very sensitive kiddos at home and this section made this book inappropriate for them)。 The next day, sister is too terrified to enjoy her time at the park- even the frogs and butterflies look scary! Her mom uses an analogy with a bucket of apples (which I love)。 She tells sister about how every bucket of apples contains a few “bad apples” and I LOVE the part where sister thinks she has found a bad apple (because it’s ugly and bumpy) but her mom shows her the inside of the apple to help her understand that looks can be deceiving。 She then picks up a nice looking apple and cuts it open to reveal worms and rot inside。 (I love this, I think it is a simple way of explaining that you can’t judge people by their looks) BUT instead of expanding on the lesson that people’s outsides don’t always match their insides, the story just continues on。 I was disappointed that they didn’t pursue that metaphor more in depth。 At the end of the story, Brother is the one who almost gets into a car with a stranger and sister stops him。 Then she goes to tell her mom and dad。 “We have rules about strangers, and they’re important。”“We have rules about tattletales, too。” Said Brother, glaring at Sister。 “Sister wasn’t tattling。 Tattling is telling just to be mean,” explained Mom, “and sister was telling because she loves you, and was worried。” I love this part。 Looove it。 So as you can see, there are good parts and bad parts to this book。 I think it would be best for older children, therefore, I need to keep shopping。 This is just a bit much for my (3yo) children。 。。。more

tThe Berenstain Bears books were a staple in my house。Often being bought by my parents to teach me a lesson。Papa Bear goes a little hard on the Stranger Danger and terrifies sister bear。A good book to show kids that while they always need to be cautious they shouldn't live in constant fear。 tThe Berenstain Bears books were a staple in my house。Often being bought by my parents to teach me a lesson。Papa Bear goes a little hard on the Stranger Danger and terrifies sister bear。A good book to show kids that while they always need to be cautious they shouldn't live in constant fear。 。。。more

This story is a bit preachy but I thought it handled the idea of strangers pretty well。 Like most things in life, when you try and be thorough, it can be too much in the scar-tactics side of things and then life is too scary, but if you don't say anything, then you aren't scared, but something could happen。 So, it's about finding that balance。 I thought the story did a good job with that balance。This was more drama filled and less funny。 It was still a fun book。 The nephew read this with me。 He This story is a bit preachy but I thought it handled the idea of strangers pretty well。 Like most things in life, when you try and be thorough, it can be too much in the scar-tactics side of things and then life is too scary, but if you don't say anything, then you aren't scared, but something could happen。 So, it's about finding that balance。 I thought the story did a good job with that balance。This was more drama filled and less funny。 It was still a fun book。 The nephew read this with me。 He thought the airplane they flew in the field looked cool and he wanted one like it。 He wants a drone。 I told him he's too young for a drone, and he informed me that he wasn't and I am too old for a drone。 Okay。 He thought it was a rather slow Bears' story and not very funny。 He gave this 2 stars。 。。。more

great little books for children, they tell stories of learning such as this one about Strangers。great pictures as well lovely and bright through out the book。 I remember some of these books from childhood, I re found them online and reading when they become available for my reading app。 Ideal books in this time of quarenten to read to young children to keep them entertained as well as slightly educational。 3 stars。

I believe that this book is a good option to introduce safety with strangers to a child。 The book had pros and cons, but ultimately more pros。 I believe that the writer may could have used language better suited for younger children。 Overall, the book introduced the dangerousness in speaking to strangers。 The author also showed “mama’s” aspect that while strangers are bad, not every stranger is bad。 This book raised caution of children dealing with strangers, while also addressing on the last pa I believe that this book is a good option to introduce safety with strangers to a child。 The book had pros and cons, but ultimately more pros。 I believe that the writer may could have used language better suited for younger children。 Overall, the book introduced the dangerousness in speaking to strangers。 The author also showed “mama’s” aspect that while strangers are bad, not every stranger is bad。 This book raised caution of children dealing with strangers, while also addressing on the last page the list of what to do to stay safe around strangers。 The list contained six safety tips, which I believe to be helpful to guide children。 。。。more

Brother has become concerned about the way Sister feels the need to say hello to every stanger she meets so he tells his parents。 Papa Bear manages to give Sister nightmares with tales of abduction while Mama tries to explain how you can't tell a bad apple in how they look。 And it is Sister who manages to stop Brother making what could be a real error of judgement。This was another fun and educational read about the family of bears and the life lessons that they learn and share。 Brother has become concerned about the way Sister feels the need to say hello to every stanger she meets so he tells his parents。 Papa Bear manages to give Sister nightmares with tales of abduction while Mama tries to explain how you can't tell a bad apple in how they look。 And it is Sister who manages to stop Brother making what could be a real error of judgement。This was another fun and educational read about the family of bears and the life lessons that they learn and share。 。。。more

Too contrived。 Too preachy。 Not real life and makes light of a serious topic in a way that could be confusing for children。 Not sure I like the Berenstain Bears。

Read this with my grandson。 Presents well to a 6yo answering questions and promoted good discussion from him about handling situations with strangers, what to do, what not to do, and offering this topic at this age level。 Well written and presents topic well。

It's difficult to teach kids to be careful without them getting scared。 This book tries, but ends up adding complexity to compensate。 It's difficult to teach kids to be careful without them getting scared。 This book tries, but ends up adding complexity to compensate。 。。。more

A Must ReadThis is a very informative book and discusses the essential reasons why children should be wary of strangers without having them afraid。 I also really like the rules at the end of the book。 If followed, it will definitely decrease the probability of a child being unknowingly put in danger。 This is definitely a discussion worth having with children。

A great book to introduce the idea to young children of the need to be cautious with unknown people。 The language is age appropriate without being condescending, and the story is engaging。 I'd recommend this book be on all bookshelves for little people to access! Not a great book about stranger danger in the least。First of all, while the topic is important, what it doesn't do, is reassure a child that there's safety in the world anywhere at all except perhaps behind the closed doors of their own home。 Which sadly isn't always the case。 Sister sees danger around every corner after the well-meaning lecture that Papa Bear gives her, but then doesn't give her any way to build her confidence back。 Instead we're leaving the child scared of the world, and think Not a great book about stranger danger in the least。First of all, while the topic is important, what it doesn't do, is reassure a child that there's safety in the world anywhere at all except perhaps behind the closed doors of their own home。 Which sadly isn't always the case。 Sister sees danger around every corner after the well-meaning lecture that Papa Bear gives her, but then doesn't give her any way to build her confidence back。 Instead we're leaving the child scared of the world, and thinking twice about going outside。Where is the mention of the "safe" adults - finding a policeman for example when feeling threatened。 Or in going to another trusted adult when safety is compromised (talking to a teacher, or parent, or other person in authority)。 Children need to be careful about stranger, and the threats they pose, but sadly, the majority of those who will be harmed, are harmed by someone they know。 They need to be taught to instead trust their instincts - that when something feels 'wrong' it's ok to go and talk to a TRUSTED adult about the situation。 Or even that there are safe places and safe people in the world。 This whole book says too much, and at the same time, doesn't teach enough。 If that makes sense。 Definitely a poor choice to help a child to understand why it's not OK to be friendly with every person they meet。 。。。more
