Summary

Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only。 The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch。 After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist。

Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible。

After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever。

The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however。 As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows - and it's forbidden。

Contains mature themes。

I know I took a while to read this book, but that wasn't for lack of interest or intrigue。 I simply have a rather busy schedule and didn't have time to read it all in one sitting。 However, I did finish it in one day because it was captivating! I love the dynamic between Persephone and Hades, how their relationship grew, and how Persephone finally became a true goddess! There were many details brought in from the original mythology that I truly enjoyed how they were incorporated。 I definitely rec I know I took a while to read this book, but that wasn't for lack of interest or intrigue。 I simply have a rather busy schedule and didn't have time to read it all in one sitting。 However, I did finish it in one day because it was captivating! (4。5/5) I am ADDICTED。 This was my first Hades and Persephone retelling and I’m hooked。 I can’t believe I haven’t read one before, I’m such a sucker for a dark love interest。 Anyway, the writing wasn’t spectacular and I wish there was more world building, but it was exactly what I was looking for。 It wasn’t perfect but I really enjoyed reading it!! I can’t wait to start the next one!

A escrita da autora é super fluída o que contribuiu para que eu lesse o livro super rápido。 No geral é um livro bom mas, com vários problemas。 Como sou curiosa me sinto na obrigação de ler os outros para saber o que irá acontecer。

This book was what I wanted it to be。 Fast read, sexy and entertaining。 The character development wasn’t great but it was entertaining。

I am utterly in awe。 This was one hell of a good book I have ever read so far!😍Such a great retelling, I felt so connected to their story and a born lover of greek mythology during her life from a child, I loved this version very very much! Thank you author for gifting us with such a pretty way of telling the famous Hades and Persephone story! Marvelous work。

3。5/5 stars Okay, so despite Persephone being BEYOND annoying for the first half of the book。。。 I loved reading this! 😂 It was steamy, it was fun, it had Hades。 It's a great book if you're looking for something to pull you out of a slump! Real rating: 2。5 starsI don’t even remember deciding to read this book。 I just picked it up thinking I’d give it a try and then it was over! There isn’t really much of a plot except for the romance but it was such a light, easy read that I found myself enjoying it anyway。The best part was by faaaar the ending and how Persephone changes as a character。

So good! A quick read, but well written。 You absolutely love Hades!

I really really enjoyed A Touch of Darkness。 It’s a modern retelling of Hades and Persephone。 Persephone, the secret daughter of the Goddess of Harvest, relies on her mother for magic and freedom in the city of New Athens。 Going to school for journalism, and starting a new internship at New Athens News she doesn’t expect to meet Hades。 When she does though she’s immediately trapped in his gaze。 A darkness inside her is awoken。 And maybe some love。。。 ;) That’s my little summary! I loved the world building。 Living in a modern, urban city where the gods live amongst us like Divine celebrities! So cool and done well without being too cheesy。 Hades and Persephone’s relationship is passionate and complicated。 While their contract complicated some things I personally found Hades to be misunderstood and a lovable character。 Persephone is a little frustrating at times, but by the end she comes into her own。 She’s trying to learn who she is throughout the book and Hades helps her do that。 I would say I wish there was a little more action in the book, the “twist” was interesting but didn’t SHOCK me。 I’m really looking forward to seeing where this story goes。 And I also am really eager to get my hands on “A Game of Fate” and read Hades’ POV of this book。 。。。more

Dnf'd at 59%。 I wanted to finish this because I spent money on it but I can't care enough to push through it。 I hate the MC and find her insufferable。 The writing is childish and reads like a horrible fan fiction。 There are way better books I'd rather spend my time on。 Dnf'd at 59%。 I wanted to finish this because I spent money on it but I can't care enough to push through it。 I hate the MC and find her insufferable。 The writing is childish and reads like a horrible fan fiction。 There are way better books I'd rather spend my time on。 。。。more

The writing style really wasn’t my thing, and I enjoyed the beginning much more than the rest。 There was also no overall plot to this, which I didn’t like。 Persephone just really annoyed me, she acted very immature despite being 24。 Finished this book for Hades。 Rating 2/5 ⭐️

Spoiler Free Zone: I really liked this book, it really did well with the integration of Greek mythology and the modern setting。 Persephone is a nice character and has good development in the story and Hades charm and charisma is amazing。 I will not lie, there is smut and if you are not into that sort of thing, you should not read this book。 I do recommend it though if you love Greek mythology。 *Spoiler Alert*: Okay, I have so many questions about this book。 One, who is Persephone's father? In the original tale, Zeus is her father but this cannot happen in this book because Hades is Zeus' brother。 And if that fact is still true to the storyline, I cannot read anymore! Two, if she is the Goddess of Spring, how do her powers correspond to black vines? Has she had a link to Hades since her birth? I need more clarification, but maybe I read this too fast to see it。 Three, will she be trapped for six months out of the year like the original tale? Hades and Persephone's attraction seems real and you do root for them in the book。 Sure, Hades is possessive, but not too much for it to become stalker level。 I really hated how he didn't think much of Persephone's jealousy of Minthe but gets jealous of her with literally every guy she interacts。 The only thing good that comes out of this is when Adonis spikes her drink and try's to assault her, he saves her。 Also, the whole thing with Aphrodite gave me After vibes with the betting。 I hated it。 I still think that Persephone should have went home and let Hades think about what he has done, but I'll role with it for the time being。 It wasn't as smutty as I thought it would be, but honestly it made it better。 I rarely pick up adult romance fantasy novels because of this fact。 Don't get me wrong, some smut is okay。 But too much makes the romance less agreeable to me。 I'm really excited to start the next book to see where we are going with this relationship, and the relationship with the other Gods now that she is in a public relationship with Hades, being the proclaimed Goddess of Spring, and maybe finding out who her dad is? Please don't let it be Zeus! 。。。more
