The worst Christie book I’ve read so far。 It seems more like a draft than an actual finished story。 Some bits are entertaining, but everything is very random and the ending is not really an ending where things are tied up or explained, it simply stops in a random way。

Before I began reading, the rating had me wondering how this book could be rated so low; when I read it, I could understand why。 I couldn't believe it was written by Agatha Christie。 The 6 pages of introduction was better than the entire plot put together。 There is a lot of politics, talk of anarchy, factions who work together, but nothing seemed to be well explained even by the end of the book, which is atypical of Ms。 Christie。 It was vaguely reminiscent of The Big Four, of which I only rememb Before I began reading, the rating had me wondering how this book could be rated so low; when I read it, I could understand why。 I couldn't believe it was written by Agatha Christie。 The 6 pages of introduction was better than the entire plot put together。 There is a lot of politics, talk of anarchy, factions who work together, but nothing seemed to be well explained even by the end of the book, which is atypical of Ms。 Christie。 It was vaguely reminiscent of The Big Four, of which I only remember one too many political intrigues。 I was sorely tempted to abandon Passenger to Frankfurt halfway, but I felt there must be something to redeem it - I was disappointed。 The starting, where Stafford Nye decides to give his passport to an unknown woman on a whim was the only part of the entire book that I genuinely liked。 。。。more

The story was proceeding ok and then so many new characters got introduced that I lost all track of the plot。 I think this one was printed at the end of Agatha’s career。

Honestly the worst Agatha Christie book I’ve read yet。 The plot made no sense to me, and felt very odd。 The main character disappears with no mention for large portions of the book。 It’s hard to pick a favorite character because I lost track of who was who during the whole story 🤦🏼‍♀️。 I kept expecting things to come back together, they would briefly and then I’d get lost again。

One of the weakest books Agatha Christie ever wrote。A mess that starts out as a moderately well written thriller, and the runs out in the sand and into God knows what。

Agatha Christie at her most racist, paranoid, and misanthropic。

This is one of the very worst books I have ever read。 Agatha Christie seems to have despised the ‘swinging sixties’ and used this story of anarchist Nazis (yes, anarchist Nazis) to vent her numerous complaints with that decade。 She has stretched the cliched refrains of ‘kids these days …’ and ‘things were much better in my day’ into a story that is entirely implausible from start to finish。 The dialogue is implausible too – I laughed out loud more than once at the ridiculousness of some conversa This is one of the very worst books I have ever read。 Agatha Christie seems to have despised the ‘swinging sixties’ and used this story of anarchist Nazis (yes, anarchist Nazis) to vent her numerous complaints with that decade。 She has stretched the cliched refrains of ‘kids these days …’ and ‘things were much better in my day’ into a story that is entirely implausible from start to finish。 The dialogue is implausible too – I laughed out loud more than once at the ridiculousness of some conversations – and no sane person would ever make many of the decisions that the poorly drawn characters in this novel make。 In the first half the plot is, at least, seemingly clear but it disintegrates into a tangle of disjointed, half-baked narrative threads that are riddled with vague conspiracy theory-esque events。 There’s also no tension, no mystery, and no real ending。 I’m going to try and expunge the knowledge of this abomination of a book from my memory so that it doesn’t taint my love for Christie’s other novels。 。。。more

One of Agatha's espionage thrillers。 The beginning had so much promise but it then kind of deteriorates into a tangled mess。 It probably didn't help that I was listening to the audio book which made it difficult to keep all the politicians and military men straight。 Plus, there was no way to "flip back" and look them up like if I had been reading the book。 It was interesting to see what some of the political concerns were in the 60s especially in light of the resurgence of white supremacy today One of Agatha's espionage thrillers。 The beginning had so much promise but it then kind of deteriorates into a tangled mess。 It probably didn't help that I was listening to the audio book which made it difficult to keep all the politicians and military men straight。 Plus, there was no way to "flip back" and look them up like if I had been reading the book。 It was interesting to see what some of the political concerns were in the 60s especially in light of the resurgence of white supremacy today too。 History does indeed repeat itself。 。。。more

Considering the date this story was written; The political and global background is eerily side by side with todays current events。 I really enjoyed this one by Dame Christie!

I only read this book as it was part of a set of Agatha Christie books that I bought。 The read was sometimes very confusing and I struggled to follow the story at all times。 Based on other reviews, it seems as if others had a similar experience。 I will only recommend this book to proper Christie fans。 I still gave it 2 stars as I really liked Stafford Nye's character I only read this book as it was part of a set of Agatha Christie books that I bought。 The read was sometimes very confusing and I struggled to follow the story at all times。 Based on other reviews, it seems as if others had a similar experience。 I will only recommend this book to proper Christie fans。 I still gave it 2 stars as I really liked Stafford Nye's character 。。。more

First 1/3 was a thrilling mystery, but the back 2/3 left a lot to be desired。 More of a social or political commentary of the 60’s than the classic mystery Christie is famous for。

Okay, I think this goes down as solidly my least favorite Agatha so far。 And I've read all of Miss Marple, most of Poirot, and a lot of the standalones。 This one was, dare I say, boring。I kind of get what she was trying to do here。 There was a lot going on during this time in the world。 She was trying to sort through it。 So many things were changing。 It was all so uncertain。But ugh。 This vague threat, this vague villain, this amorphous case, the cloudy denouement, it all fell flat。 This was perh Okay, I think this goes down as solidly my least favorite Agatha so far。 And I've read all of Miss Marple, most of Poirot, and a lot of the standalones。 This one was, dare I say, boring。I kind of get what she was trying to do here。 There was a lot going on during this time in the world。 She was trying to sort through it。 So many things were changing。 It was all so uncertain。But ugh。 This vague threat, this vague villain, this amorphous case, the cloudy denouement, it all fell flat。 This was perhaps one Agatha that did not give me comfort。 It confused me。 It was a lot of political mumbo jumbo, and a lot of theory。 I wasn't sure if they were saying the things going on in the book were actually happening, or were likely to happen。 There were so many background characters, and it was never clear who was to be trusted。 Even of the main characters, that was not clear。 Whatever came of Aunt Matilda - who I liked! - going to visit Charlotte? What was the point of that? I don't know。And Mary Ann or the Countess or whoever she was, and Stafford。 Okay。 At the end (and here is one time that I am going to be a little spoilery because really it had NOTHING to do with the rest of the book, at all), the telegrams going back and forth gave a tiny surprise。 But you know why it was a surprise?? Because it was so far out of character for BOTH of them, and so far out of left field for the whole rest of the story。 Just, what? Okay, that happened。At first, I felt like that redeemed the book, but after thinking on it, I get no inkling of that throughout the whole rest of the book, and certainly not that Stafford (who I also liked) would jump to such an audacious action。 Nope。 I do not see it。 I mean, good for him。 But nope。Poor confused Agatha, who was wrestling, as we all do, with the changing of the world as we get older。 I know this is one of her later titles and I can absolutely see it。 Definitely not her best work。 。。。more

This just proves that even the great ones can write a dud。 2 stars: one for Hugh Fraser for reading this and not going “what the heck am I reading?” and one star for the brief glimpse of Sybil at the end。 She was adorbs, “please God make nanny nice!”

I got worried about this book right at the beginning when I saw that Agatha Christie had written the foreword explaining her reasoning behind writing this international intrigue。 My first thought was why did the author feel the need to do this。 I could not get into the story at all。 It took me 2 weeks to finish this book。 There was, to me, no proper plot。 I could not make any sense of this book at all。 I was hoping for something to happen and it never did。 As for the end, I have no idea how Agat I got worried about this book right at the beginning when I saw that Agatha Christie had written the foreword explaining her reasoning behind writing this international intrigue。 My first thought was why did the author feel the need to do this。 I could not get into the story at all。 It took me 2 weeks to finish this book。 There was, to me, no proper plot。 I could not make any sense of this book at all。 I was hoping for something to happen and it never did。 As for the end, I have no idea how Agatha Christie came to it。 I really have no idea what she was trying to do with her characters and the story。 It has to be my least favourite book by the author。 。。。more
