Copy provided by the publisherFinley is attending a prestigious private school in Connecticut。 Boarding there is a way to escape life in Christmas， Oklahoma， where she thinks her opportunities are limited。 Even if private school will set her up to attend a good university， life there is lonely and difficult。 She was a top notch student in Oklahoma， but just average in terms of prep school students。 She decides to go home for Christmas and help out her grandmother at her Hoyden Inn， but things go Copy provided by the publisherFinley is attending a prestigious private school in Connecticut。 Boarding there is a way to escape life in Christmas， Oklahoma， where she thinks her opportunities are limited。 Even if private school will set her up to attend a good university， life there is lonely and difficult。 She was a top notch student in Oklahoma， but just average in terms of prep school students。 She decides to go home for Christmas and help out her grandmother at her Hoyden Inn， but things go badly wrong。 Her mother is off visiting Finley's aunt， her father is living at the inn， her former best friend is dating her former boyfriend， and an academic rival is working for her grandmother。 If all of that isn't enough， Arthur Chakrabarti Watercress （of the British construction equipment international conglomerate Watercresses） a classmate from the private school， has arrived in Christmas with his Aunt Esha to experience a traditional US Christmas。 The problem？ Finley may have posted some things on the town website that weren't exactly true， and Arthur and his aunt are bound to be disappointed by her deception。 She's not fond of Arthur; he is snooty and hangs out with people who are unkind to Finley， but to uphold the honor of her grandmother's inn and the town in general， she needs to make the visitors' experience as good as she can。 She embarks on a lot of projects that don't end well; visiting the local reindeer farm， baking cookies， and going to the local parade。 Arthur is angry at the deception， but still wants to optimize his aunt's experience， since she has stuck by him when his busy parents have all but abandoned him。 Finley has problems of her own， since she is worried that her parents are divorcing and is debating whether she will go back to the boarding school。 She also starts to find Arthur rather attractive。 The two manage to have a decent enough holiday， but there are some complications。 Arthur and his aunt head back to Connecticut， and Finley wonders if she will ever see him again。 Will a Christmas miracle， in an unlikely Christmas venue， bring them back together？Strengths: I haven't watched many Hallmark Christmas movies， but I understand that Andreen has written for many of them。 So， This is Christmas seems to have some similarities to these （small town setting， addition of attractive potential suitor from outside the town， Christmas activities， complications， happy ending）， but also seemed more complex than the majority of them。 This was solidly young adult， and included some facets of teen life that will definitely speak to high school readers; trouble fitting in at school， struggles with academic content， desire to go to a good college and leave one's hometown， parents having marital difficulties， drama with ex-boyfriends and friends。 All of these topics make this a great read。 The Christmas details are not lacking， and the romance develops fairly naturally。 Arthur is a bit formal， but fully embraces the quirky Christmas experience， even if it wasn't what he expected。 If this were ever made into a holiday movie， I might even watch it！ （Still need to hunt down Suzanne Nelson's You're Bacon Me Crazy！）Weaknesses: What is a weakness for middle school is a strength for Young Adult audiences。 I enjoyed that fact that the plot got a bit complicated at the end with the grandmother coming out as a lesbian。 The fact that the storyline with Ayisha ramped up to include the fact that she applied and was accepted to the private school Finley attends， but her mother wouldn't let her go was also a great addition。 This shed a lot of light on why Ayisha always seemed irritated with Finley， especially once she started talking about not going back to the school。 Both of these subplots added some diversity and interest to the story that was welcome， but also added to the length and complexity。 The readers I have who want Christmas stories， however， are often struggling readers who would be happier with just the romance and the mixup about the commercial viability of Christmas， Oklahoma。 What I really think: I did find it hard to believe that Finley couldn't make a simple batch of Christmas cookies and that Arthur didn't own a parir of jeans， but otherwise thought this was a great Young Adult holiday read。 I enjoyed it a lot， but given the length （350+ pages） and the inclusion of several f-bombs， I think I will pass this on to the high school。 。。。more

This was a great book。 It’s about a girl named Finley who comes back to Christmas， Oklahoma where everything changed but has also told a buy that Christmas is a paradise city which now she has to prove to him。 I have to be honest， that when I started this book I totally forgot that Christmas was a city and was thinking of the holiday of the holiday which made this book confusion during the first 30 so pages。 I do have to say once I understood the concept of the story I did start to enjoy it。 I l This was a great book。 It’s about a girl named Finley who comes back to Christmas， Oklahoma where everything changed but has also told a buy that Christmas is a paradise city which now she has to prove to him。 I have to be honest， that when I started this book I totally forgot that Christmas was a city and was thinking of the holiday of the holiday which made this book confusion during the first 30 so pages。 I do have to say once I understood the concept of the story I did start to enjoy it。 I loved the setting as I thought it was amazing and the pacing was well done。 I enjoyed the conflicts in the story and to be honest this was an ok Christmas book。 The main character is Finley in the book and I have to say that she kind of annoyed me a little。 I didn’t like her but she did have a good character development。 The side characters were well done and I loved the involvement of Finley’s family。 There was one part that confused me which was when she was calling Arthur’s aunt AUNT。 I was confused at first if they were related because of the way the story was going and made it a little disturbing that Arthur could be her cousin and she has a crush on him。 Then there was the “friends” to lovers trope which was ok not the best romance in all books as there really wasn’t much romance。 It was mostly towards the end which kind of disappointed me。 There is also a lgbtq romance between the side characters。 The ending was good not the best。 This book was an okay read but honestly it could have been better。 Mostly for me it was about the character part of the story but I enjoyed the whole concept of the book。 I think readers who love hallmark movies will love this book。 *this arc was sent to me by the publisher to give an honest review* 。。。more

So， This is Christmas was a cute YA romance with a definite small-town holiday feel。 Family tension， an ex-boyfriend， friendship drama， and a new crush mixed with some Christmas activities and winter fun…this was an easy read that I think teens would especially enjoy。

This was super cute， fun and cozy！ Although I expected this to be more full of Christmas-y antics and shenanigans， I still enjoyed it so much！ I think the focus was more on the different relationships we have in this book as our main character， Finley goes back home to her hometown， Christmas， Oklahoma for the holidays。 There she discovers that her best friend is now dating her ex-boyfriend， her former rival in high school is working at her grandma's inn， her parents are separated。 On top of all This was super cute， fun and cozy！ Although I expected this to be more full of Christmas-y antics and shenanigans， I still enjoyed it so much！ I think the focus was more on the different relationships we have in this book as our main character， Finley goes back home to her hometown， Christmas， Oklahoma for the holidays。 There she discovers that her best friend is now dating her ex-boyfriend， her former rival in high school is working at her grandma's inn， her parents are separated。 On top of all that， a classmate of hers shows up at her grandma's doorstep demanding that Finley give him the idyllic Christmas holiday she unknowingly tricked him about。 I loved the exploration of familial love but also love between friends and romantic love。 Finley grows a lot in this book and so does her family。 It was really heartwarming to read。 。。。more

Yes， more Christmas tales！ I never grow tired of them。 :0） Tracy Andreen's newest book， So， This is Christmas， is a teen take on a Christmas tale。Finley Brown is happy to return home to her small town of Christmas， Oklahoma for the holiday。 Her first semester at an elite boarding school hasn't gone as she had hoped and she doesn't think she'll return。 Imagine her surprise when she finds out that a boy from school， along with his aunt， are staying in Brown family inn for the holiday。 Why in the w Yes， more Christmas tales！ I never grow tired of them。 :0） Tracy Andreen's newest book， So， This is Christmas， is a teen take on a Christmas tale。Finley Brown is happy to return home to her small town of Christmas， Oklahoma for the holiday。 Her first semester at an elite boarding school hasn't gone as she had hoped and she doesn't think she'll return。 Imagine her surprise when she finds out that a boy from school， along with his aunt， are staying in Brown family inn for the holiday。 Why in the world would he come to Christmas for - well， for Christmas？Could it have something to do with the town's website - that Finley may have tweaked a wee bit？ I did find Arthur's reason a bit of a stretch initially。 But go with it - there's more to his decision that the reader will discover later。 And it made much more sense。Andreen has created a great lead character in Finley。 She's so likeable and the reader can't help but be behind her as she navigates starting new chapters in life， returning home to find out that things didn't stand still while she was away and yes， maybe a bit of a romance as well！ It's no secret that this is a rom-com tale （evidenced by that cute cover） and Arthur is the other half of the will they， won't they equation。 He was just as well drawn as Finley。 The supporting cast is populated with a mix of young and old players， all with their own stories and dramas。 There's lot of Christmas activity in the book - baking， parades， light shows and more。 You might want to add a few to your own traditions。 And all of this activity only fueled my own list！ （Hmm， it's not too early to put the tree up - is it？） And I will be hunting down the teas and cocoa Andreen serves her characgters。 So， This is Christmas is charming， heartwarming seasonal fare， seasoned with friendship， family and of course - romance。 （And here's a fun fact - Andreen has also written a number of Hallmark Christmas movies！） 。。。more

A very gentle read， set in a town called Christmas， at Christmas。 Like reading a Hallmark movie and receiving a warm hug， there is nothing offensive about this in the slightest， and it would be a wonderful wintery read for anyone looking for that。 Obviously the main story centres around the fact it's Christmas， but I did like some of the side plot drama and the little twist that happens about two thirds of the way through。 There was also diversity， which is often overlooked in books like this， s A very gentle read， set in a town called Christmas， at Christmas。 Like reading a Hallmark movie and receiving a warm hug， there is nothing offensive about this in the slightest， and it would be a wonderful wintery read for anyone looking for that。 Obviously the main story centres around the fact it's Christmas， but I did like some of the side plot drama and the little twist that happens about two thirds of the way through。 There was also diversity， which is often overlooked in books like this， so that was lovely to see。 The only thing that I found distracting was how hilarious Arthur is written when you are reading as a Brit。 There are a lot of random cliches that just made him a little ridiculous and unbelievable， but did make me laugh。。。alot！！ Cute， cosy， christmassy fun！ 。。。more

So， This Is Christmas is a beautiful holiday romance set in a small town called Christmas。 It is an incredibly wholesome story full of festive fun， a hint of comedy and most importantly， a holiday romance （or two）。 I am a sucker for a Christmas romance， be that a novel or a movie， and this book did not disappoint。 It is told from the POV of Finley， who has come home from boarding school for the holiday season， she expects everything to be the same as she left it a few months previously， but that So， This Is Christmas is a beautiful holiday romance set in a small town called Christmas。 It is an incredibly wholesome story full of festive fun， a hint of comedy and most importantly， a holiday romance （or two）。 I am a sucker for a Christmas romance， be that a novel or a movie， and this book did not disappoint。 It is told from the POV of Finley， who has come home from boarding school for the holiday season， she expects everything to be the same as she left it a few months previously， but that is not the case。 For one， Arthur， a boy from Finley’s boarding school， and his aunt are spending the Christmas holidays at Finley’s Grandmothers inn and its up to Finley to make sure they have the perfect Christmas。 Finley and Arthur were so likable that it wasn’t hard to get sucked into this story。 I particularly enjoyed Finley’s fun narrative as it made it easy to get lost in the story。 Both Arthur and Finley have such a beautiful character growth throughout the story and it really warmed my heart to see the changes within the two of them。 I genuinely felt like I was watching a Christmas romcom play out in my head and I loved it！This is the perfect book for Christmas and I cannot wait for December so I can experience this story all over again。 Thank you to Penguin Random House for providing me with an ARC。 。。。more
