I like the story because I like to touch the goats and I like the horns of the goat。I like the story because it was very very easy to read and I like the cover。And I like the stories of monsters like the troll。

As a young boy my first acquaintance with 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff' was when listening to the 'Children's Favourites' programme on a Saturday morning in the 1950s。 Just recalling it reminds me vividly of how I sat petrified when Derek McCullough, alias Uncle Mac, described the billy goats crossing the bridge to be met by the troll。 Well, here it is now in book form in a 'Read it yourself Level 1' edition from Ladybird Books。The story, Norwegian in origin and first published in England in 'Po As a young boy my first acquaintance with 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff' was when listening to the 'Children's Favourites' programme on a Saturday morning in the 1950s。 Just recalling it reminds me vividly of how I sat petrified when Derek McCullough, alias Uncle Mac, described the billy goats crossing the bridge to be met by the troll。 Well, here it is now in book form in a 'Read it yourself Level 1' edition from Ladybird Books。The story, Norwegian in origin and first published in England in 'Popular Tales from the Norse' in 1859, is still the same; three billy goats decide to cross a bridge to eat the grass on the other side where a nasty old troll is waiting for them。The troll decides to eat each one in turn but the first two to cross persuade him that the third billy goat will make the best meal。 But that third billy goat is no easy meat and he takes on the troll with drastic consequences - for the troll that is。A very readable story and nicely illustrated by Graham Percy, making it just right for the younger audience to get their teeth into, as it were! 。。。more
