If you're a fan of Jeffrey Archer you've heard the name William Warwick （The Clifton Chronicles）。 And you also know that Archer is simply an awesome author。 Always intricate plotting and deep character development。 I received a copy of this book from goodreads。com and of course， read it immediately。 Now I know I must have the first three in the series。 If you can read them in order， it will enhance your enjoyment but this one certainly can be read as a standalone。 If you're a fan of Jeffrey Archer you've heard the name William Warwick （The Clifton Chronicles）。 And you also know that Archer is simply an awesome author。 Always intricate plotting and deep character development。 I received a copy of this book from goodreads。com and of course， read it immediately。 Now I know I must have the first three in the series。 If you can read them in order， it will enhance your enjoyment but this one certainly can be read as a standalone。 。。。more

Archer is losing it again here， after three excellent books in the series。 Murder 1 is disconnected from all others。 Since Warwick is well established as a detective the point of the murder and deduction are not clear。 Somewhere after the 3/4 mark the hero is suddenly Ross。 The assignments were to different members of the team， so why does Ross take them all up even though they are not connected to his loss？ Also over whose dead body and what？ If it was the murderers getting away， they did for a Archer is losing it again here， after three excellent books in the series。 Murder 1 is disconnected from all others。 Since Warwick is well established as a detective the point of the murder and deduction are not clear。 Somewhere after the 3/4 mark the hero is suddenly Ross。 The assignments were to different members of the team， so why does Ross take them all up even though they are not connected to his loss？ Also over whose dead body and what？ If it was the murderers getting away， they did for a long time and if they could be solved at the speed at which they were， why were they not earlier。 Fast read but disappointing。 。。。more

Mixed emotions about Over My Dead Body， the fourth book in the Detective William Warwick Series。 I am a fan of author Jeffrey Archer。 I thoroughly enjoyed the seven book Clifton Chronicles and the first three books in this series。 The first thirty-five percent of the book was very good。 I enjoyed being on the cruise ship with Beth and William。 I also enjoyed the introduction of James Buchanan who aspires to be Williams counterpart in the FBI some day。 Someone dies on the ship and James helps Wil Mixed emotions about Over My Dead Body， the fourth book in the Detective William Warwick Series。 I am a fan of author Jeffrey Archer。 I thoroughly enjoyed the seven book Clifton Chronicles and the first three books in this series。 The first thirty-five percent of the book was very good。 I enjoyed being on the cruise ship with Beth and William。 I also enjoyed the introduction of James Buchanan who aspires to be Williams counterpart in the FBI some day。 Someone dies on the ship and James helps William。 After the ship arrives in New York。 Everything shifts and we do not hear from James except for a phone call in the latter part of the book。The plot then shifts to introducing the new Unsolved Murders Unit with Warwick now Chief Inspector with a team of four officers。 Each are investigating different crimes。 And of course we have the plot thickening in the chase to capture Miles Faulkner now Captain Ralph Neville。 This book appears to be a transition book in the series that seems to take on too much。 My thoughts are that the focus going forward will be the Unsolved Murders Unit， and Miles will sink to the background。 I missed not having William’s father and sister heavily involved in the story。 It will be interesting to see what happens in the next book。 My thanks to Harper Collins and NetGalley for an ARC of this book。 The opinions in this review are my own。3。5 stars raised to 4 。。。more

a nice Twist in the TaleGood to see Miles where he belongs again， and a great story to work through， with lots of planning to deal with more than one criminal。 Now， I have to wait for my next Archer to surface， but I know that it will be worth it。 I still remember reading Kane and Abel in one sitting years ago， and I alway enjoy sitting back with a “good friend” as I commence each new book from Jeffrey！

Was very readable and got through it quickly but I felt the first part with the American wannabe detective was superfluous。 Some of the police talk etc seemed a bit 1960’s。 I expected one of the cops to talk about the villains as “Chummy”！ But overall quite entertaining。

3。5 STARS - In this fourth installment of his Detective William Warwick series， Jeffrey Archer once again shows his readers why he's known for his detailed， compelling， and layered story lines。 I had read the first book in this series years ago but remember very little of the characters and plot。 Now I wish I had read books two and three because of larger story arcs and returning characters。 Over My Dead Body could be read as a standalone but if you want to understand the whole picture in terms 3。5 STARS - In this fourth installment of his Detective William Warwick series， Jeffrey Archer once again shows his readers why he's known for his detailed， compelling， and layered story lines。 I had read the first book in this series years ago but remember very little of the characters and plot。 Now I wish I had read books two and three because of larger story arcs and returning characters。 Over My Dead Body could be read as a standalone but if you want to understand the whole picture in terms of plot and characters， I suggest starting at the beginning with Nothing Ventured。 The story kicks off with a murder on a NYC-bound ocean liner。 I was quite enthralled with this plot which introduces readers to 17-year-old James Buchanan （who I can't help but think will make appearances in future books）。 One murder isn't enough for Warwick so readers are then whisked back to London when Warwick learns that his nemesis - millionaire art thief and collector Miles Faulkner who was presumed dead - may still be alive。 A cat-and-mouse story ensues， and other cases are added to the docket stemming from Warwick's cold case squad at The Met。 There is a lengthy list of well-drawn characters - both friend and foe - and with the multiple cases， things get a bit confusing at times but through it all Warwick shines as the main character。 I loved his banter with his Mrs。 which added levity， but it was ex-undercover agent Ross Hogan who stole the show for me with his mad skills and penchant for not following the rules。 Gotta love a good bad boy， right？This was an interesting story and while the telling is a bit choppy as we jump from case to case， I think readers will enjoy this layered novel and its many different locales。 Look for this book in stores October 19th in Canada！Disclaimer: My sincere thanks to HarperCollins Canada for my advanced copy given in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more
