A heart to protect。 A debt to repay。 A game to win。

After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage。 The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free。 She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name。

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's。 Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice。 But now the game is asking for more。 If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life。 But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever。

Welcome, welcome to Caraval。。。the games have only just begun。

Actual rating: 4。5 stars! Everything was a bit predictable for me, but it was still super exciting and magical!! I love this world and it was so fun to be able to dive back into everything。 I can’t wait to read Finale and dive into OUABH!!

This book didn’t hold my interest as much as the first。 It seemed really repetitious, much like the first book but with differences in the minute details。 It did end on an interesting note though, so I’ll read the third to see where the story goes。

I finished this beauty last night and completely forgot to uploaded my progress in here。 If you were curious, I basically had a melt down over the ending and every time something related to Legend came around。 But honestly can you blame me, folks? Also, I bought the paperback edition of this series and so I got to read the annotations Stephanie made over some chapters… let me tell ya, that made this gal very happy 🤩 And on that topic, just wanted to say that this author is SO funny and relatable I finished this beauty last night and completely forgot to uploaded my progress in here。 If you were curious, I basically had a melt down over the ending and every time something related to Legend came around。 But honestly can you blame me, folks? Also, I bought the paperback edition of this series and so I got to read the annotations Stephanie made over some chapters… let me tell ya, that made this gal very happy 🤩 And on that topic, just wanted to say that this author is SO funny and relatable I laughed out loud a couple of times with her remarks over her own past drafts of this stunning book。In other news: Donatella is the new love of my life but just don’t make me get into Jacks and Dante。 Like, even if I wanted to I don’t think I could describe everything I feel for these two characters。 I would let them end me ANY day of my existence。Needless to say, I cannot wait to get (and inhale) the third one! 。。。more

I finished Legendary yesterday and I clearly needed some time to process this majestic second book of the Caraval series before writing a review。 I loved every single chapter of this book and I have to restrain myself from reading finale right now ! I found Donatella’s character much more interesting than Scarlett’s because she dares to say what she truly thinks which lead to a lot of very interesting discussions…Still can’t choose between Jacks and Dante though。

These stories are full of such brilliant intrigue, always questioning what is real, wondering if you can truly trust these characters, while rooting for them all the same。 And the journeys of the MCs Scarlet and Donatella are brilliant, as we watch them constantly facing their fears and seemingly impossible choices, rising stronger as truly free and independent women through the strength of their choices and sacrifices。"The safe choice often felt like not making a choice at all, like politely stepping back and allowing others with more power to do what they saw fit。""She was finally the hero。 All it had cost her was everything。" I cannot put these books down and my workouts and housekeeping have been suffering as a result。 😂 I cannot recommend them enough and I am desperately waiting for my request of the third and final book to become available! 。。。more

This book is brilliant。 It took two days to read and was way better than Caraval。 In Caraval I didn't like Donatella, but now I know more about her she is quite likeable。I was once again wrong with my predictions as to who Legend was。 This book is brilliant。 It took two days to read and was way better than Caraval。 In Caraval I didn't like Donatella, but now I know more about her she is quite likeable。I was once again wrong with my predictions as to who Legend was。 。。。more

Sentences along the lines of “the street smelled of flutes and long lost loves” just make this book jarring to me。 I just don’t know if it’s trying too hard with the fantasy descriptions。 Add to that the author uses the main character’s name every other sentences and it’s so distracting。 I enjoyed the first book much more but this one was a chore。 Tella felt that if tella felt too strongly tella would upset tella。 I’m going to power through the third book and hope it grips me more。 I kinda just Sentences along the lines of “the street smelled of flutes and long lost loves” just make this book jarring to me。 I just don’t know if it’s trying too hard with the fantasy descriptions。 Add to that the author uses the main character’s name every other sentences and it’s so distracting。 I enjoyed the first book much more but this one was a chore。 Tella felt that if tella felt too strongly tella would upset tella。 I’m going to power through the third book and hope it grips me more。 I kinda just wanna get it over with。 I love fantasy and magic but something is just not clicking with me and this author。 I don’t feel connected to the characters, the overly flouncy descriptions of smells and people bothers me but… I will see what happens。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I enjoyed this story a lot- took me a little bit to get into because I wasn’t very interested in Tella after reading the first book, but I ended up liking her more than Scarlett。 A lot of the twists were predictable, and Dante leaving Tella right at the end just didn’t sit right with me, so I ended this book a little frustrated since I, too, had fallen in love with Dante。 But overall, I liked the magic and the heightened risk that came with this book!

Oh my God the way this completely TRUMPED Caraval。 I LIVED for Tella's personality and character development。 Some of it became repetitive like traits of Scarlett did in Caraval but regardless the STRENGTH of Tella。 Her cunning and wit。 I loved all of her and found her narrative far more relatable than Scarlett。 The TWIST AT THE END!!!! It took me a while to get into this story。 Having loved the first book so much this felt a bit slow at the start。 However, from about 1/3 of the way in I was engrossed in the whole magical world again。 The ending sets everything up really well for book 3。 Looking forward to reading it!

This book wasn’t as exciting and enticing as the first book in the caraval series。 So many plot twists and sacrifices happen throughout the whole novel。 And I can’t lie that it was pretty good and that i did enjoy it。 Although some moments were as dull as being stuck in traffic。 It made me lose my mind and even skip through some words。 A lot of the scenes were descriptions and not dialogues and that’s one thing I absolutely hate about books。 The book was pretty good tho, it did end on a cliffhan This book wasn’t as exciting and enticing as the first book in the caraval series。 So many plot twists and sacrifices happen throughout the whole novel。 And I can’t lie that it was pretty good and that i did enjoy it。 Although some moments were as dull as being stuck in traffic。 It made me lose my mind and even skip through some words。 A lot of the scenes were descriptions and not dialogues and that’s one thing I absolutely hate about books。 The book was pretty good tho, it did end on a cliffhanger so i will jump on to reading the final book in the trioligy right away。 。。。more

I have to be honest: at first I didn't like the idea of the story being told from Tella's point of view。 After "Caraval", I developed a kind of dislike for her for the way she had behaved with Scarlett。After a while, however, I began to glimpse in her a great courage, the desire to live and adventure, stubbornness and the desire to finally be loved by someone。 I'm glad I didn't listen to the first impressions!I loved Dante much more than I loved Julian in "Caraval" and I did really like Jacks! 4/5It was actually really good, but it was the type of book where I didn’t read it all at once。 The one weird thing about this book was Scarlett, I felt like she was acting really off throughout the whole thing…

I didn't expect to enjoy it this much。 I don't remember much about how I felt reading the first one since it was so long ago, I just remember overall enjoying it。 The worldbuilding is so interesting and the whole atmosphere is very beautiful。 I think I enjoyed reading from Tella's perspective far more than I did from Scarlet。 The audiobooks are good as well。 I am very interested to see where the story goes and to read Once Upon a Broken Heart since it is also dealing with the same mythology。 I kinda gave me Starless Sea vibes and I have no idea why since they so different。 Maybe its because I read both of them around this time of year。 I do have to say though and this might be just because I am getting older but this I feel would have benefitted from being an adult book。 The descriptions for the kissing scenes feel very surface level to what is being implied to the whole atmosphere。 I don't know it just feels like it would have been better if they were over twenty, the descriptions and the emotions an stuff just don't match up with just kisses in my opinion。Anyway I personally really enjoy this series and am already in the middle of the next one。 。。。more

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as Caraval。 It felt like the magic and wonder in book two lost its shine。 It was the repetitiveness of the game, and the stagnant chunk in the middle, that were tedious and slow。 But I loved Tella - she is spunky, confident, and witty, and so easy to adore with her firey spirit。 And…where was the lust? I was very bored with the ‘kisses that ended all kisses’ and the image that every man was ‘so beautiful it could cause damage’。 The lack-lustre descriptions of chas I didn’t enjoy this one as much as Caraval。 It felt like the magic and wonder in book two lost its shine。 It was the repetitiveness of the game, and the stagnant chunk in the middle, that were tedious and slow。 But I loved Tella - she is spunky, confident, and witty, and so easy to adore with her firey spirit。 And…where was the lust? 3。5*In a lot of ways, this was much better than the previous book。 (Spoilers for Caraval) Tella is so much more interesting of a character than Scarlett。 Tella really felt more like the underdog, which are the stories that I always love。 The love story didn't feel as unnecessary and I even liked the setting better。 There was more stakes and more action that added to the tension of the story。Jacks was actually a pretty compelling character by the end of the book。 I wasn't entirely sure about him 3。5*In a lot of ways, this was much better than the previous book。 (Spoilers for Caraval) Tella is so much more interesting of a character than Scarlett。 Tella really felt more like the underdog, which are the stories that I always love。 The love story didn't feel as unnecessary and I even liked the setting better。 There was more stakes and more action that added to the tension of the story。Jacks was actually a pretty compelling character by the end of the book。 I wasn't entirely sure about him at first but I'm excited to see what makes him such a fan-favorite。Unfortunately, I really despised Scarlett in this book。 My dislike for her was especially solidified by her ending decision。 (view spoiler)[Why the hell is Scarlett pitting her random fiancé she's never met and Julian against each other?!!
