Summary

Hi, I’m Keshav, and my life is screwed。 I hate my job and my girlfriend left me。 Ah, the beautiful Zara。 Zara is from Kashmir。 She is a Muslim。 And did I tell you my family is a bit, well, traditional? Anyway, leave that。

Zara and I broke up four years ago。 She moved on in life。 I didn’t。 I drank every night to forget her。 I called, messaged, and stalked her on social media。 She just ignored me。

However, that night, on the eve of her birthday, Zara messaged me。 She called me over, like old times, to her hostel room 105。 I shouldn’t have gone, but I did… and my life changed forever。

This is not a love story。 It is an unlove story。

Light heart crime storyNow Chetan will be next desi Connon Doyle? Investigation details are sketchy。 However, quite a tight knit plot。 Luckily, Indian police are not as stupid and lame as it is made out。

Spoilers alert:Chetan had placed the lead couple in two extremes:Keshav, whose father is a senior RSS member, and Zara, a Kashmiri Muslim。Keshav's father, soon after he learns Zara was a Muslim, instantaneously accuses her to be a terrorist, just like every other Sanghi。 And guess what, it turns out it's not Zara, but her step-brother who in fact is a terrorist。 What a coincidence, ain't it? The purpose of this plot setting seems as if to imply that almost every RSS members' mindless accusations of Muslims are true。Zara's father, who is initially shown to be comparatively more progressive than Keshav's father, who accepts for their nikkah, forces Keshav to convert, and later threatens to harm Keshav if he disturbed Zara in the future。When we compare the two fathers: For a Hindu to hate and blindly accuse Muslims, he has to be a fundamentalist and also belong to RSS。 But a Muslim to demand conversion and threaten to kill, he need not be a fundamentalist, he just has to be rich。 What's your agenda, Chetan?Zara, who is introduced to us to be a politically active person, clever debater, and peace activist, is also one who laughs at racist comments about her nerd fiancé, cheats on him, although later, settles for that nerd to lead a comfortable life。Wow, how better can a best-selling author characterize Muslims in his story and strengthen the stigma around them?!Throughout the story, there were several conversations about Pakistan, Kashmir, and India。 But nothing clearly described the background of the issue that's burning since India got its so-called "political independence。" Keshav and his close friend Saurabh are shown to be apolitical, at least less political, yet they are patriotic towards India somehow。 This shows us that you can be apolitical and patriotic at the same time, lol。 They both keep wondering what this conflict between Pakistan and India over Kashmir is all about, yet they make no effort to properly understand it。 They couldn't tolerate any Kashmiri criticizing India and its army。 If the author wanted to educate the readers on this issue, I'd say, he did a poor job。 Rather if he merely wanted to give his novel a pan-India perception to induce filmmakers to buy rights of his book, sure, he did a great job。I found something interesting related to this。Narendra Modi assumed Prime ministerial office on 26 May 2014。On the next day (27 May 2014), Chetan's tweet:"Article 370 has to go。 One country, one system。 However, we must first convince Kashmiris about it。"This was part of BJP's 2014 manifesto too。In October 2018:The Girl in Room 105 book was released。In October 2019:Article 370 was abrogated。I thought to myself, "Was Chetan preparing Indians one year prior to abrogation of Article 370, to create an opinion amongst his readers on the Kashmir issue, and that opinion was to make people believe that Kashmir entirely becoming part of India and losing its special status was the only solution?"There was no proof that abrogating Article 370 would make Kashmiris' lives safer and better。 In fact, the reality check shows that it's the opposite。I understand Chetan's love for black humor。 But I don't get why it should often surround body shaming and overeating。 Source: refer Keshav-Saurabh conversations at the end of each chapter of the book。And finally, this cannot be neglected。 In this story:"A Brahmin MAN agrees to convert to Islam。"Bottom line: A predominantly Islamophobic and bit racist novel with no political cognition that should be avoided。 。。。more

The Girl in Room 105 is one of the best books of Chetan Bhagat。The plot was the story of a broken heart IITian, Keshav who loved a Kashmiri Muslim girl, Zara。 The story was really well-knitted with a lot of nail-biting twists。 Keshav's father didn't agree for their marriage due to religious differences。 They parted away。 But Keshav continued to love her。 Meanwhile, she agreed to marry another person,Raghu。Later, when Keshava went to Zara's room, he found her laying dead on the bed。 The twist was The Girl in Room 105 is one of the best books of Chetan Bhagat。The plot was the story of a broken heart IITian, Keshav who loved a Kashmiri Muslim girl, Zara。 The story was really well-knitted with a lot of nail-biting twists。 Keshav's father didn't agree for their marriage due to religious differences。 They parted away。 But Keshav continued to love her。 Meanwhile, she agreed to marry another person,Raghu。Later, when Keshava went to Zara's room, he found her laying dead on the bed。 The twist was vulnerable and the murderer was unable to guess!!Firstly, in this story I liked the friendship between Keshav and Saurabh。 Saurabh was very much concerned for his friend。 The way he handled his friend's emotional situation impressed me。 It also depicted the political circumstances in the state of Kashmir。The story was bonded together in very simple English。 This is what I liked the most。。。。😇 。。。more

The book utterly failed in carrying out the killers identity。 Period。 I feel most people who read the book found the killer sooner than the author did。 Duh。I picked this book seeing the buzz going on and on about it and right around the beginning I knew who the killer was (well I think all of you readers guessed it right) so I think this was an utter failure for Bhagat and not worth the time。 If you want to know about kashmiri khawa and a hopelessly Romeo sulking about his ex girlfriend then go The book utterly failed in carrying out the killers identity。 Period。 I feel most people who read the book found the killer sooner than the author did。 Duh。I picked this book seeing the buzz going on and on about it and right around the beginning I knew who the killer was (well I think all of you readers guessed it right) so I think this was an utter failure for Bhagat and not worth the time。 If you want to know about kashmiri khawa and a hopelessly Romeo sulking about his ex girlfriend then go ahead。Either way I stayed up all night and read the book picking up errors and just to tell myself yeah you guessed it right。 。。。more

Very gripping storyThe book really feels like your binge watching a triller series。 Also, the romantic story that has been woven into the triller just takes it to the next level。

I'm giving this a 3。 Because this was the only book I liked from this author。 I was 15 when I read。This was my first mystery novel。As a new reader,I felt this was a nice book with mystery。Now being 18 I realized a lot of things about this book。1。why does Chetan bhagat think that life of everyone is surrounded around IIT。seriously, the world outside it。2。why does he always write female leads in the worst way。he always makes sure the woman is very attractive and she cheats on her current boyfriend I'm giving this a 3。 Because this was the only book I liked from this author。 I was 15 when I read。This was my first mystery novel。As a new reader,I felt this was a nice book with mystery。Now being 18 I realized a lot of things about this book。1。why does Chetan bhagat think that life of everyone is surrounded around IIT。seriously, the world outside it。2。why does he always write female leads in the worst way。he always makes sure the woman is very attractive and she cheats on her current boyfriend or(this book, revolution 2020)has an affair(one Indian girl)。it's so disgusting how he views woman。a fake feminist。 。。。more

Zara, who first fell in love with Keshav and later with Raghu, is seen being killed on his birthday。 It was Keshav who found out who the killer was。 Who the killer is and the reason for the murder is shocking。 A composition that deviates from the usual style of Chetan Bhagat。 It was very comforting not to add too much spices。

A lovely tragic story。 Main one Who becomes detective like Sherlock Holmes。 Keep your mind open and have the will to do things, it does take you to the final destination for sure。 。 Chetan Bhagat stories are simple fine one , you just go with flow as you continue reading it and I did get full imagination。 So not so bad I guess。

An unexpected unputdownable thriller by Chetan Bhagat ! I have been reading Chetan for quite a some time now and I really feel that he has changed his writing plot 。 I have read a total of 5 Chetan novels。 This was my sixth one and I completely forgot that it is a Chetan novel。 Coming on to the book, it is a golden escape from reality for Thrill / Mystery / Crime lovers。 The essence of Bromance is beautifully disclosed。 Again a bit of foul language is used but I hope we can ignore it because the An unexpected unputdownable thriller by Chetan Bhagat ! One of my favourite quote from the book - “One shows more warmth before ending a wrong number call。”If you've been reading Chetan Bhagat for so long, this is a breathe of fresh air for you。 Even though the protagonist feels like a typical Chetan 'five-point-someone' average joe, he has written a good murder mystery with a nice tadka of romance and humour。 I loved how the author brings subtly addresses the tension in Kashmir, prejudices that prevail in the society, and the problems with the law and order system without attracting much controversy。 It is not a love story but an unlove story but you will understand at the last page how it is unlove for someone to someone by someone 。❤️ Chetan bhagat writes uptodate issues and psyche of modern day lovers 。From youth love problems to Kashmir problem and also touch of detective 。。。more

A light read rather than a suspense thriller。 I was so so disappointed with the book, too much information is given (which i found irrelevant)。But i had to finish it bcoz i dont left a book half read(and it took much much effort to complete it)。 At last i would say, if you wanna read then read。

Living In A Imaginary World ❤

Not good or not bad too。 I can say it was a nice read。 The suspense was good and the end was okay too。

Typical chetan bhagat writing that roams around a high class family。
