There was an astonishing lack of wrath in a book about a girl marrying the murderer of her best friend to take revenge。 I could unfortunately not summon enough suspension of disbelief of really enjoy this read。

Great? Bad? I DONT KNOW。 There are only a handful of books that left me on the fence like this。 The very beginning had me but a few more chapters past that it’s seem I started to put down the book multiple times。 Then I made my way to the middle which seem to pick up and I thought maybe something fun and interesting was going to happen but nope。 Everything was expected in the love part。 The love triangle if you could even call it that was, well, I wasn’t a fan to say the least。 She had very little reason to love him that I can think of。 After so many nights and other girls you think he be harder to win over。 It seem I cared more for the side characters more then anything which is why I rated it three not two stars。 Overall, it’s seem I expected to much from the main character。 I did actually like her a lot but idk。 I was really hoping for her to at least go past the point of chapters of planning and dreaming。 Does she really do anything close to revenge?!? I mean if her thoughts counted her poor friend was avenged 1001 times over but yeah that’s about it。 Skip over her whole point of actually being there and making her family being the ones who seem to actually do anything close of what she claimed to set out to do。 Cause that’s like 1/5。 And just the whole thing of her saying she wasn’t anyone’s possession was fine, I guess, to be fair I thought it was a nice change to the argument of “I cannot live with myself if my life chooses got you hurt” she said he doesn’t own her and he agrees and there’s no big annoying blow out and chapters of a mess that could have been settled if you just let the girl make her own choices (even though in some cases it’s stupid choice)。 But did think it was unfair for her to turn around to say she owns him。 Theres probably so much more I can say but this was the one staring me in the face the most。 Was the book the worse book ever ? No。 Was it my favourite? Not really。 But it did have parts where I got my sticky notes out because I absolutely loved the lines? Yup, more then some of my favourite books。 I really did like the writing and that’s probably why I keep jumping back and forward between it’s bad cause of this but it makes up for it because of this。 So will I read the next one? Maybe。 I just hope it gives me more then this “I love the monster even though I had no reason to and he killed my best friend but don’t worry cause he was a reason to and my best friend was very forgiving? Like be honest man didn’t need a reason you already love him AND even though you already said you don’t know him at all!!!! Whatever I can write pages of how I see no reason for these two to get together so I end it here。 Love to hear your (most likely better formed😂😅) opinions if you make it this far。 。。。more

This was a bit slow in the beginning but definitely picked up in the second half。 The book ends with a perfect mix of tying up loose ends and more questions to lead into the next book。 I ended up enjoying this one in the end。

okay so this book was good, but the delivery wasn’t the best。 let’s start off with shahrzad, she’s just not a likable character really。 she says that she is gonna avenge shiva, kill the king, blah blah blah, but has no real plan to do so? she never even comes close to following through with it。 next, the love story between her and khalid。 it’s just kinda well… dull。 i just feel like it was all a little rushed and there wasn’t like any slow burn (which i NEED)。 i feel like their relationship shou okay so this book was good, but the delivery wasn’t the best。 let’s start off with shahrzad, she’s just not a likable character really。 she says that she is gonna avenge shiva, kill the king, blah blah blah, but has no real plan to do so? she never even comes close to following through with it。 next, the love story between her and khalid。 it’s just kinda well… dull。 i just feel like it was all a little rushed and there wasn’t like any slow burn (which i NEED)。 i feel like their relationship should have been developed more。 literally the only thing i liked about this book was khalid。 even though his character wasn’t that deep, i still enjoyed him as a character and had this desire to fix him。 i think that this book would have been so better if the characters were more developed, but i didn’t completely hate it。 。。。more

A very interesting take on Shahrzad and the 1001 nights。 I think I'd cut a little of the romance or introspection for more storyline explanation, but it's good enough that I'm picking up book 2! Very easy and fun summer read, only took me about 3 days and it truly was one of those books that you don’t want To put down。 It had a solid storyline, strong characters and good flow。 Not too heavy on details。It was one of the first Arabic culture books I’ve ever read and I enjoyed very much so。 I would love to read more like this。

Before I review this book, lemme give you some backstory。 There are a ton of covers for this book, and in my country, the cover available just isn’t it。 And so I waited。 I waited through the entire friggin pandemic to go and visit my family to get the version of this book with the pretty cover。 And I get there。 I’m in Barnes and Noble for the first time in MY LIFE!…and they don’t have the right cover。 TWO FRIGGIN YEARS AND FOR WHAT。 But you know what? I’m not gonna be disappointed in that trip。 I got over 200$ worth of books! Possibly the best day of my life。 No exaggeration。 Now onto the book。 You don’t read this book for the plot。 You don’t read this book for the romance。 You don’t read this book for the characters。 You don’t really know why you read this book, and if asked you couldn’t name a single big event。 But still, you ENJOY this book。 It was a perfect holiday read for sure。 Still fantasy, but with none of the high stakes to put you on edge。 Gosh I am making it sound like I hated this book。 I didn’t! 4 stars people!! It was just…tame? Still I am really excited to see where the sequel takes this series。 Yes, I’m pretty sure how I know this series will end。 But HEY, I’m still here for it。And a lil’ credit where it’s due: Khalid was a hard character to write for sure。 We know going in he will be a minster with a ‘reason’, that is a given for any enemies to lovers set up this way。 But here Shazi didn’t just accept it? Didn’t just shrug it off and forgive him? She actually acknowledges it was a selfish decision and has to reflect on how she feels about this?! Like woah。 A lot of reviews say Shazi was set up to be this strong character that fell flat, but y’all are wrong。 That girl was morally strong and that is something most MC’s don’t get to say。 。。。more

This is one of those books that I thought I really liked at first。 After I finished and thought about it, though, I realized I had some issues with it。 I wish the author would have made the h fight the H a bit longer…I felt like she just fell for him super fast considering his misdeeds。 Still kind of liked it, though。

I rate books based on delivery of what was promised。 I do not require High Literature from teen romances。 Therefore, I'd be perfectly happy if this had admitted to itself that it was arabic twilight。 Because it is。 And it didn't。If I hadn't bought the ebook I wouldn't have passed the 20% mark because it was so unbelievably nonsense!! Well, surprisingly, I don't。 The last few pages were satisfying。 It's like a domino effect where those build-ups, revelations, and twists finally make sense and things fall in the right places。 Still, there are plenty of materials left for the second book and I think the end of this first novel was a great way to set them all up。I previously thought of not reading the sequel, but now, I think I should give it a try 😄#niellreviews 。。。more
