Una lectura muy emocionante， sin duda。 Aunque hacia el final le estaba batallando un poco por la forma en la que se comporta Bastian， los últimos tres capítulos vuelven a ser sumamente emocionantes y nostálgicos， pues es el fin de la aventura。I LOVE IT， se va a quedar conmigo por siempre。 （+ hace mucho que no me sentía así con un libro🥺）

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 First of all， I DNFed this。 I'm sorry！ I thought the first part was genuinely wonderful， and I was able to relate to Bastain as a character。 I liked how he was almost。。。 below average。 Unlike a lot of children's fantasy stories， like Matilda or The Bad Beginning， which contain children who have beyond average intelligence， or have amazing talents， this book doesn't。 Bastian doesn't have amazing talents-- he makes Cs， he doesn't have friends， he's bullied a lot， none of his teachers quite like hi First of all， I DNFed this。 I'm sorry！ I thought the first part was genuinely wonderful， and I was able to relate to Bastain as a character。 I liked how he was almost。。。 below average。 Unlike a lot of children's fantasy stories， like Matilda or The Bad Beginning， which contain children who have beyond average intelligence， or have amazing talents， this book doesn't。 Bastian doesn't have amazing talents-- he makes Cs， he doesn't have friends， he's bullied a lot， none of his teachers quite like him， and he has no one who really CARES about him。 Which I really liked。 I think that was relatable！ And if child me had found a copy of this in my library， I know she would've been obsessed with this book。 But。。。 while I was totally enraptured with the beginning part， my interest did wane off towards the middle。 I say this because what made the first part so interesting was how Bastian， someone who isn't amazing， or special， gets to be a part of this fantasy world！ But then。。 this concept does get ruined。 （I also want to add that I had checked out this book for four weeks， and I didn't want to check it out again， so I thought it would be rude to recheck it out， so I didn't。 Maybe that played some part in why I DNFed it？） Instead of seeing Bastian get to earn being a hero， he just。。 doesn't do that。 I'm trying not to spoil anything but I doubt anyone will read this。 Bastian gets EVERYTHING he wishes for after he goes into fantasia， which to me， turned me off。 I hated how he just all of a sudden has a strong will， is incredibly handsome， is a perfect hero， and all of the journey that just happened before， ALL of it， gets thrown away。 Maybe as the book continues， that changes， but I didn't feel like sticking around for that change because all of the interesting bits that made it cool just。。 vanished。 I love the writing， I love the fantasy， but。。 the way it just goes from being a cool and unique concept， one of high fantasy and unlikely heroes， it then turns into somewhat of a cliché， I felt。 Which made me lose all interest。 I think maybe the combination of the lack of time for me to read this book， and the fact that Bastian changed so quickly， just made me not want to finish it。 I think I'll come back to it one day though， and finish it， and maybe my opinion and ranting will change。 Because all in all， it's an amazing and wonderfully creative book， but the whole。。。。。middle part， and the rest， didn't quite interest me。 Once Bastian turned into that prince dude， I just lost all interest。 Because， （and I feel like I'm sounding like a broken record at this point，） everything that made the story relatable and interesting just went away。 And instead， it became a side story that one would tell in a high fantasy book。 If that makes sense。 I'm open to giving it another chance， and maybe the next time I read it， my opinion will change， but for the most part， as of now， it's not my cup of tea。 。。。more

I watched the movie several times when I was a child and it's still one of my all-time favorites and I remember loving the book when I was younger so I decided to re-read it after about 20 years to see if my enjoyment of it held true。Unfortunately， I made a discovery that I managed to completely forget about and it's this: the movie only covers the first half of the book。。。and that's for good reason。 Because the first half of the book is interesting and involves interesting characters， but the s I watched the movie several times when I was a child and it's still one of my all-time favorites and I remember loving the book when I was younger so I decided to re-read it after about 20 years to see if my enjoyment of it held true。Unfortunately， I made a discovery that I managed to completely forget about and it's this: the movie only covers the first half of the book。。。and that's for good reason。 Because the first half of the book is interesting and involves interesting characters， but the second half is a boring teenage-boy-fantasy-come-to-life。The first half of the book has the narrator being Atreyu， who is a flawed but likeable young boy who is randomly chosen to do an impossible task。 He has no idea what he's doing or where he's supposed to go and his frustration was understandable。 There are also several situations where he makes the wrong choice due to his lack of experience or impatience and sometimes those decision have devastating consequences。 Whenever I think about the scene where （view spoiler）[Artax， Atreyu's beloved horse， drowns in the swamp （hide spoiler）]， I always tear up because that's one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever read or seen。 Because Atreyu is such an interesting character， his journey is interesting and we're all rooting for him。However， the second half completely switches gears。 Bastian ends up coming to Fantastica and takes over as narrator。 Bastian is a bland， boring boy who is suddenly given the chance to literally create a fantasy world that includes everything he wants。 What follows is Bastian turning himself in a Gary Stu （he's suddenly the best looking， strongest， smartest person in the entire land） and he strolls around with the author info-dumping irrelevant information about the people and lands he sees。 I was bored to tears， especially after having loved Atreyu's journey。 This was such a jarring change that it left me reeling。 But I have to applaud the movie producers who recognized that the second half is boring and pointless， which is why they ended the movie when the first half of the book was done。 That was a brilliant decision and I wish I had done the same。 。。。more

Το διάβαζα με τον γιο μου τις τελευταίες μέρες… ένα πολύ ωραίο ταξίδι στην ονειροφαντασια όπου ο γιος μου μαγεύτηκε αλλά εγώ κουράστηκα。 Βέβαια αυτό που κατάλαβα είναι ότι όλες αυτές οι περιττές για μένα επεξηγήσεις και αναλύσεις ήταν πολύ βοηθητικές για τον γιο μου που ξεχνάει τι έχουμε διαβάσει。 Η βαθμολογία είναι δίκαιη λοιπόν γιατί είναι ένα παιδικό βιβλίο και το σύμπαν που έχει δημιουργήσει ο Εντέ είναι εκπληκτικό。

When I first started this book I thought it was great， but about half way through my interest started to lag。 I found that there were several spots that would have made a fantastic ending。。。unfortunately the book stretched on until it really did seem never-ending。 I kept starting and stopping this book over a few weeks。 I kind of gave up on trying to finish it， as it began to feel like a chore trying force myself to continue。

As a huge fan of the movie I was excited to read this。 In ways the result was both good and not as good。 First off the movie only adapted the first half or so of the book， which is understandable as you start to lose some sympathy for Bastian in the second half。 The second half goes into some pretty impressive world bending but gets a bit preachery at times。 Still the whole thing makes for an exciting dive into Fantastica （Fantasia）。
