Summary

After having just graduated with a degree in shoe design, and trying to get her feet on the ground, Cindy is working for her stepmother, who happens to be the executive producer of America's favorite reality show, Before Midnight。 When a spot on the show needs filling ASAP, Cindy volunteers, hoping it might help jump-start her fashion career, or at least give her something to do while her peers land jobs in the world of high fashion。

Turns out being the only plus size woman on a reality dating competition makes a splash, and soon Cindy becomes a body positivity icon for women everywhere。 What she doesn't expect? That she may just find inspiration-and love-in the process。 Ultimately, Cindy learns that if the shoe doesn't fit, maybe it's time to design your own。

Well that was absolutely adorable。 The pop culture references, the amazing and diverse cast of characters, the body positivity, the fashion, and THE ROMANCE。 CANNOT EVEN。 I have been in such a slump lately and I am SO GLAD I decided to pick this up today because my heart is so so so so happy!

Really enjoyed this book and the message that she learned from her mom, choose you。 It was a bit of a slow start for me but the book overall was really good I think。 I love all the characters except maybe for Addison, but even she played her part well。 I liked that the leading lady was a plus sized lady who dressed sexy despite feeling insecure at times and spoke about her weight with no shame。 Definitely a nice change! Also liked the peek into the fashion industry and reality tv!

Such a cute fun read! This was a cross between The Bachelor and Cinderella。 I loved all the characters in this one and it was really nice to see the “princess” as a plus sized woman。

Audio version was the right choice for this book。

This book was really cute! I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but it was better than I thought。 I wish we had gotten to know Henry a little better but that’s the trouble with a single POV。 I enjoyed “The Bachelor” premise and the plus size representation。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh my god I loved this so much! Worth the no sleep! A Cinderella retelling where the step mother & sisters are massive a-holes and featuring a bacheloresque type show?! Plus a plus sized heroine?!!! Quilty pleasures overdrive!

I love that we finally got a plus-sized MC and the premise sounded great。 However, the story itself was painfully boring and I haven't seen the "floor is lava" thing since 2016。 I love that we finally got a plus-sized MC and the premise sounded great。 However, the story itself was painfully boring and I haven't seen the "floor is lava" thing since 2016。 。。。more

This was fun。 I have a fondness for "behind the scenes" reality tv stories so this was right up my alley。 I feel like I've read a few Bachelor inspired stories and they are usually good to pass the time。 I liked the fashion angle here though I think with time this book will probably blend with similar stories I've read 🤷🏻‍♀️。 This was fun。 I have a fondness for "behind the scenes" reality tv stories so this was right up my alley。 I feel like I've read a few Bachelor inspired stories and they are usually good to pass the time。 I liked the fashion angle here though I think with time this book will probably blend with similar stories I've read 🤷🏻‍♀️。 。。。more

This was such a fun adult romance! I really love our main character Cindy。 I related with her a lot throughout the book and was rooting for her the whole time。 I adored the love interest too! AHHH it was so fun。 I will say, I was expecting this book to be a bit steamy but it is very PG (maybe even G, honestly)。 So if you are not a fan of steamy scenes in your romance, this would be a great book to pick up! 4。7 stars I love this book。 The whole concept of retelling the iconic story of Cinderella is so cool and it was not in the obvious “Cinderella remake” type of way。 Whenever I have watched modern versions of Cinderella, I have thought the story was not that interesting because I was expecting what was happening。 However, that was not the case at all with this book。 While Julie Murphy did brilliantly play homage to the traditional story, she also added something very new and enticing to it。 Overal 4。7 stars I love this book。 The whole concept of retelling the iconic story of Cinderella is so cool and it was not in the obvious “Cinderella remake” type of way。 Whenever I have watched modern versions of Cinderella, I have thought the story was not that interesting because I was expecting what was happening。 However, that was not the case at all with this book。 While Julie Murphy did brilliantly play homage to the traditional story, she also added something very new and enticing to it。 Overall, this is such a cute, romantic, feel-good read and I highly recommend it! 。。。more

This book was amazing! A clever retelling of an old classic。 This book felt like a warm hug, or like you were enjoying a delicious piece of chocolate cake。 A cake that you just wanted to eat slowly, and enjoy every bite, right up until the end where you had to savor the very the last bite。 I loved the messages of body positivity and believing in yourself。 Murphy reminds us of the famous Cinderella quote in closing, "a dream is a wish that your heart makes。" And, maybe happy endings are not so fa This book was amazing! This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed this modern Cinderella-ish retelling。 Cindy, a plus-sized shoe designer works for her step-mother, who produces a reality dating show。 When a spot needs filling, Cindy volunteers not realizing how her life is about to change。 She becomes the iconic contestant and may even find love。。。Thank you Julie Murphy, Disney Publishing Worldwide and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback。

Somewhat predictable but that's why we love。 This book reminded me of One to Watch but not quite as good。 That being said it was an enjoyable read and I enjoyed the modern day nods to Cinderella。 Somewhat predictable but that's why we love。 This book reminded me of One to Watch but not quite as good。 That being said it was an enjoyable read and I enjoyed the modern day nods to Cinderella。 。。。more

A fun read, great retelling/modernisation of Cinderella - enough clever choices that it felt like a unique take (hard to do with this fairy tale!)。 Breezy, a good beach read, and avoided the cliche misunderstanding ending (though YMMV)。 Some aspects could have been deeper, but overall the interactions with 'Prince Charming' were nice A fun read, great retelling/modernisation of Cinderella - enough clever choices that it felt like a unique take (hard to do with this fairy tale!)。 Breezy, a good beach read, and avoided the cliche misunderstanding ending (though YMMV)。 Some aspects could have been deeper, but overall the interactions with 'Prince Charming' were nice 。。。more

I don't watch the bachelor like some people, but obviously this gave me major bachelor vibes。 I did enjoy this book, I just wish I got a little bit more from it。 It felt a little lacking in certain scenes, and others were just fine。 I do wish there was more to this story, especially with how the story was ending。 I don't watch the bachelor like some people, but obviously this gave me major bachelor vibes。 I did enjoy this book, I just wish I got a little bit more from it。 It felt a little lacking in certain scenes, and others were just fine。 I do wish there was more to this story, especially with how the story was ending。 。。。more

I love Julie Murphy but I felt like i read this one already。 Between Cinderella, In Her Shoes by Jennifer wiener and One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London, they made this one almost redundant。 It got better towards the end, but this is not my favorite of hers because it didn’t feel like hers。

We don’t always read books to find our next 5⭐️ read。 Sometimes we read books to reinstate our belief in love, and maybe even in happiness。 Cause we often question the existence of these feelings when our hearts bleed and we’re distraught。 All we need is a bit of reassurance, even if that comes in the form of fiction。 Must we always dwell on reality ? Thanks to Netgalley and Disney-Hyperion for an ARC in exchange for an honest review。 I had this book sitting in my Kindle library for a while before finally cracking it open (proverbially) and it was a fun, quick read that I finished in a day。 If the Shoe Fits is a rom-com retelling of Cinderella that also offers a nod to the Bachelor franchise。 If you liked One to Watch or The Charm Offensive, you’ll probably like this。 I enjoyed Cindy’s character, her sense of humor and style, and the supporti Thanks to Netgalley and Disney-Hyperion for an ARC in exchange for an honest review。 I had this book sitting in my Kindle library for a while before finally cracking it open (proverbially) and it was a fun, quick read that I finished in a day。 If the Shoe Fits is a rom-com retelling of Cinderella that also offers a nod to the Bachelor franchise。 If you liked One to Watch or The Charm Offensive, you’ll probably like this。 I enjoyed Cindy’s character, her sense of humor and style, and the supporting cast of friends and family, and I especially loved how the author flipped the evil stepsister trope around and made them supportive friends。 I give this a 3。5 for a few reasons: I felt like there was some missing tension that would’ve made the ending more satisfactory, I didn’t buy into the fact that no one would care (or find out) that Cindy lied about her family on the show (especially with how fanatic Bachelor fans are), and I didn’t really feel invested in Henry or Cindy’s romance。 It was also very closed door, which makes sense as a Disney retelling but left me wanting more。 This one is a very minor complaint that doesn’t apply to the published version, but the unedited ARC had some incorrect names, plot errors, and general misses that took away from the overall reading experience。 Not docking a star for that, though, since I’m sure those were fixed before publication day! 。。。more

the perfect silly love story

This book is fun, quirky, lighthearted and embraced a full-figured main character。 I would recommend this as a quick feel good light romance。 No heavy or explicit love scenes so I would give romance and steaminess 1 flame。 The story itself was light。 Enjoy!

I adored this book! A total delight。 I love everything Julie Murphy writes, and this one did not disappoint。If the Shoe Fits made me actually laugh out loud and smile so many times。 Murphy writes an inclusive world with supporting characters who all deserve their own books。 What I loved about this modern take on Cinderella was how it didn't rely on tired mean girl tropes with the stepmom and stepsisters; the core conflict comes from the dating reality show and the choices the main character has I adored this book! OK, I want you to read this book。 Not because it was exceptional, but because it was normal。 It is a typical Cinderella-style love story。 Everything from our heroine "Cindy," to her obsession with shoes, and yes, the glass slipper is a part of the story。 But none of that is why I think everyone needs to read it。 What Julie Murphy does in this book is to "normalize" some very important concepts。 The first is that of removing our standard of "white norming。" When describing her characters Murphy a OK, I want you to read this book。 Not because it was exceptional, but because it was normal。 It is a typical Cinderella-style love story。 Everything from our heroine "Cindy," to her obsession with shoes, and yes, the glass slipper is a part of the story。 But none of that is why I think everyone needs to read it。 What Julie Murphy does in this book is to "normalize" some very important concepts。 The first is that of removing our standard of "white norming。" When describing her characters Murphy assigns a skin color, but not just for the brown and black characters, she does it for the white characters as well。 This is so important in our efforts towards equity and inclusion, and dare I say it is impossible to achieve without it。 When we only describe a character's skin color when it is different than white, we are saying that "white" is the norm and that anything else is a deviant skin tone。 Murphy is boldly stating that she believes in equity and inclusion and wow is that refreshing。 The second is that of pronouns for gender non-binary characters。 There isn't a long discussion about pronouns, there isn't any reaction to the fact that it might take a while to get used to "they/them" pronouns。 Murphy just uses them - get used to it。 Jay is fabulous, and we love them。 Finally, and perhaps of primary importance within this novel, is that of body positivity。 But, Murphy takes it a step further than other authors in this book。 Rather than diving into the psychological origins of big girl bodies as she did in Dumplin, Cindy is bold and unashamed。 Sure, Murphy discusses some issues surrounding fashion choices and availability of sizes, it is a story that is crafted around fashion after all。 But, Cindy isn't shocked that our gorgeous "Prince Charming" is falling for her。 Cindy never questions if he could love her because she is fat。 She doesn't psychoanalyze every action or comment, she just lives her life。 She is completely comfortable in her size 18 skin and it is beautiful。 I work in a High School library so I read a lot of teen fiction and I love it。 My favorite part, aside from the fact that every one of them is a page-turner, is that these fantastic authors are using their platform to create better humans。 So, Julie Murphy, thank you for your wonderful work。 I wish you had been around when I was a teen! 。。。more
