Tengo algunas pegas, pero definitivamente una lectura con ideas sumamente interesantes。 Particularmente recomendado a aquellos (como yo) que no son de la rama de humanidades y buscan una introducción a estos temas。

This was a really interesting read。 I think it started strong and then slowed down a bit towards the end。 It seemed the modern history/ future history bits were just a tad too speculative。 Still quite interesting。

Mind altering and opening read, all part historical, anthropological, and future curiosity。 Phenomenal read。

I might give this 3。5 stars but I guess not。 On one hand, I’ll give the author credit for summarizing an incredibly huge topic。 But on the other hand, I’m like why are you talking to me like I’m still stupid by the time I’m 3/4 of the book through? Like sometimes it seems like it’s for people who have never thought about human beings or history ever in their life。 My fave parts were about Hunter gatherers and learning about how it’s human nature to gossip。 Ultimately though, this book seems to e I might give this 3。5 stars but I guess not。 On one hand, I’ll give the author credit for summarizing an incredibly huge topic。 But on the other hand, I’m like why are you talking to me like I’m still stupid by the time I’m 3/4 of the book through? Great book。 It's quite long, but it needs to be because it systematically covers all the "myths" that make humanity the species it is today。 The chapter separation in chronological revolutions is very useful。 I am also glad the author identifies the major problem of animal agriculture。 Great book。 It's quite long, but it needs to be because it systematically covers all the "myths" that make humanity the species it is today。 The chapter separation in chronological revolutions is very useful。 I am also glad the author identifies the major problem of animal agriculture。 。。。more

I am slow to reading Sapiens。 The main reason is just that it was what I studied in college so didn't feel significantly lacking in the subject matter。 I mention this because I do think it probably affects how I read and understand the book。 It is a complicated subject and to dispel all the information would be volumes upon volumes。 It is tricky to condense this subject。 When talking with others about the book I heard similar issues as with other books like Guns, Germs and Steel。 It's just a lot I am slow to reading Sapiens。 The main reason is just that it was what I studied in college so didn't feel significantly lacking in the subject matter。 I mention this because I do think it probably affects how I read and understand the book。 It is a complicated subject and to dispel all the information would be volumes upon volumes。 It is tricky to condense this subject。 When talking with others about the book I heard similar issues as with other books like Guns, Germs and Steel。 It's just a lot。 Still。。。an amazing book。 。。。more

Best explained。。。 if an alien spoke perfect english, this would be a great book to read to get an understanding of how humans have developed over the last few thousand years。

I couldn't bring myself to love this book。 It adds nothing new to what's know about human history and evolution theories。 At times, i felt that the writer was oversimplifying facts。 I am generally not into big picture history books, so it wasn't this book's fault that I couldn't bring myself to like it。 I couldn't bring myself to love this book。 It adds nothing new to what's know about human history and evolution theories。 At times, i felt that the writer was oversimplifying facts。 I am generally not into big picture history books, so it wasn't this book's fault that I couldn't bring myself to like it。 。。。more

This book is 'n must-read for anyone who is interested in the history and future of mankind。 Especially how loyalty to a narrative can facilitate cooperation on a massive scale and also steer "us" into a progress trap without us knowing。 This book is 'n must-read for anyone who is interested in the history and future of mankind。 Especially how loyalty to a narrative can facilitate cooperation on a massive scale and also steer "us" into a progress trap without us knowing。 。。。more

Some criticisms of this book seem to boil down to "This is not a complete course in evolutionary biology, history and anthropology。"。 Which, fair。 It is a brief history of mankind told by one historian。 Clearly not the only or final authority on the expansive topics he presents。 That said, I found it an interesting read。 Textbook lite。 Enjoyed the photos and graphics。 He presented some persuasive theories and made some arguments I hadn't previously contemplated。 I took a lot of notes on ideas I Some criticisms of this book seem to boil down to "This is not a complete course in evolutionary biology, history and anthropology。"。 Which, fair。 It is a brief history of mankind told by one historian。 Clearly not the only or final authority on the expansive topics he presents。 That said, I found it an interesting read。 Textbook lite。 Enjoyed the photos and graphics。 He presented some persuasive theories and made some arguments I hadn't previously contemplated。 I took a lot of notes on ideas I want to explore further and quotes I found intriguing。 Chapters are 20-35 pages long, so easy to finish one between tasks。 。。。more

Listened on audiobook。 Very interesting and thought provoking。 Some interesting perspectives and conclusions。 At times, the author attempts to clarify a point, give an analogy, etc and belabors the point。 Still an decent book。 3。5

Maybe it’s a bit dated now as many of the ideas presented are not novel but in the mainstream。 I found the beginning much more interesting and the more modern parts boring and preachy。

Another fabulous nonfic read to remind me that humans invented everything we know。 All that imagination and sapiens invented credit scores, racism, and diet culture。 Take a dive in, be humbled, learn something。 I doubt you'll walk away from this text without learning SOMEthing new。 Another fabulous nonfic read to remind me that humans invented everything we know。 All that imagination and sapiens invented credit scores, racism, and diet culture。 Take a dive in, be humbled, learn something。 I doubt you'll walk away from this text without learning SOMEthing new。 。。。more

This book gives a great comprehensive view of humanity with Yuval's unmistakable personal voice and matter-of-fact tone and personality。 I didn't expect this, but I found the parts about Buddhism the most intriguing, a nice gem in the middle of this inevitable doom into which our species seem to be heading to。 I also liked the comparison to Gods at the very end, which I'd never thought about before, or how the agricultural revolution was the worst thing to happen to humanity。 Never did I think t This book gives a great comprehensive view of humanity with Yuval's unmistakable personal voice and matter-of-fact tone and personality。 I didn't expect this, but I found the parts about Buddhism the most intriguing, a nice gem in the middle of this inevitable doom into which our species seem to be heading to。 I also liked the comparison to Gods at the very end, which I'd never thought about before, or how the agricultural revolution was the worst thing to happen to humanity。 Never did I think that the hunter-gatherers had a much better work-life balance than we do today。 Like most of my favorite books, when the lesson is slow down and appreciate the pauses in your life, I'm there for it:)Highly recommend。 。。。more

A great read! An absolute must for anyone with historical / anthropological / sociological the interests。 Very thought provoking。

An interesting take on the history of our species, Sapiens shows how we went from just one of many human species to the dominant species on the planet。 It is well written, easy to follow and gives you plenty to think about。
