I never read the original， so I’m not able to determine the fidelity of this comics adaptation （and the introduction touted this as a faithful adaptation）。 I assume it is， especially since this work is so text heavy。 That， I feel， is one of the limitations of this book， a reliance on the words at the expense of letting the image telling the story。

I obtained a copy of this ebook via Netgalley for my true and honest opinion。 Ian Fleming’s literary debut featuring British Secret Service agent 007 – Casino Royale but in a Graphic Novel format！ I am definitely a fan。 The illustration was lovely and would recommend for all James Bond fan。 3 stars

Brilliant。 Beautiful。 Bond。 I have long harbored the ridiculous hope that the Fleming people would produce for television （Cable？ Netflix？ Amazon？） what could be called Classic James Bond -- new films that would be faithful adaptations done in the proper period of Flemings novels。 Until they get smart enough to do that， this graphic novel adaptation of Casino Royale （and hopefully the rest of the novels in the very near future， please， please， please！） is a damn good substitute。 Not that it real Brilliant。 Beautiful。 Bond。 I have long harbored the ridiculous hope that the Fleming people would produce for television （Cable？ Netflix？ Amazon？） what could be called Classic James Bond -- new films that would be faithful adaptations done in the proper period of Flemings novels。 Until they get smart enough to do that， this graphic novel adaptation of Casino Royale （and hopefully the rest of the novels in the very near future， please， please， please！） is a damn good substitute。 Not that it really is a substitute， for it certainly stands on its own as an incredibly good adaptation。 Possibly it might even be superior to any film adaptation because the creators have very wisely -- despite this being a "graphic" novel -- let Fleming's prose take the lead， displaying beautifully his fine way of describing things， both exterior space and interior thoughts and emotions， his unique similies， his evocation of mood， tone， and atmosphere。 All while not sacrificing the power of the image。 Kudos to illustrator Dennis Calero and the coloring of Chris O'Halloran。 And love to Van Jensen for his adaptation。 。。。more
