This is a review of the digital early release of the second edition。 I've read several of this type of book recently, collections of photos of various game systems with a small blurb about the system。 Where this one suffers from the same problems the others all have, limited photos, limited info about the system and missing systems, this book is probably the best of them so far。 I do question some of the reasons some systems were left out as one reason given is lack of access to original hardwar This is a review of the digital early release of the second edition。 I've read several of this type of book recently, collections of photos of various game systems with a small blurb about the system。 Where this one suffers from the same problems the others all have, limited photos, limited info about the system and missing systems, this book is probably the best of them so far。 I do question some of the reasons some systems were left out as one reason given is lack of access to original hardware to photograph。 Given the number of collectors out there with those systems, I'm sure he could have worked out an opportunity to take said photos。 Lack of space is given as well but some items get a small brief mention in the end and the other missing systems could have benefited from a similar entry。 My real issue with the book and others of this type is the very brief information given on a system。 Later newer systems get more info than older systems which people would be less likely to be familiar with and thus should get more。 It also felt like more images of the systems from different angles would have helped as well。 Getting one image from the same basic angle as every other seemed a bit limiting。 Some sample game screens would be nice as well。 It all boils down to space I suppose and given the coverage in this book is more comprehensive than most I've seen, future editions may have to break up into volumes。 Which might be a good thing as then there would be more space to flesh out the entries。 In the end, if you enjoy classic gaming systems or games, this new updated edition is worth checking out。 。。。more
