4。5You see。。。 I have no children， so why did I read this book？Maybe I was bored， or maybe I thought that a book for kids might have words that I've never heard of and thus I could enhance my vocabulary alongside the very remainder of little literacy skill I have left in me。If in the near future I happen to have children （not very likely， just saying， I'm pretty childfree） then this would be a perfect book for them to learn some words。I'd give this a 5 if there were more words to go through， alth 4。5You see。。。 I have no children， so why did I read this book？Maybe I was bored， or maybe I thought that a book for kids might have words that I've never heard of and thus I could enhance my vocabulary alongside the very remainder of little literacy skill I have left in me。If in the near future I happen to have children （not very likely， just saying， I'm pretty childfree） then this would be a perfect book for them to learn some words。I'd give this a 5 if there were more words to go through， although the 64 pages were packed with different kinds of words that would be very useful for a kid to describe people， things， and etc。 。。。more

An amazing book for young children who are learning new words。 Due to the selection of words along with puzzles， games and other fun features， this colorful and vibrant book is a great item for the non-English speaking kids as well。

What a delightful bumper book of early words。 From the super-busy bright yellow hardback cover art， you can tell that why this book will be a firm favourite。 There are lots of "my first word books" and from experience， they are adored by inquisitive early readers （and before）。What DK have added to the usual approach is a smart way of embedding further learning， in line with early curriculum/learning guidelines。 This is not just as laid out in an explanatory page at the front， but is added throug What a delightful bumper book of early words。 From the super-busy bright yellow hardback cover art， you can tell that why this book will be a firm favourite。 There are lots of "my first word books" and from experience， they are adored by inquisitive early readers （and before）。What DK have added to the usual approach is a smart way of embedding further learning， in line with early curriculum/learning guidelines。 This is not just as laid out in an explanatory page at the front， but is added throughout the book beyond the initial contents。 As an example， there are questions that allow a child to look for groups of items （clothes suitable for hot or cold days， places to eat or places to visit）， noises are used to bring pictures to life and questions that allow further expansion of the items with feelings or extra description。 These allow for extra expansion of vocabulary and children love repetition and being able to further build on existing knowledge。 A well though out approach。The pictures are all very colourful and easy to identify。 The sheer volume allows for a diverse range too。 On the sea animals there's a pretty sunstar。 A what？ Even I learned something。 Many of the animals use photographic imagery， cropped on to the scene to enable recognition and bring them to life。 A lovely idea。 Near the end are shapes， colours and numbers to aid learning in those areas and after that section are a few pages on building your own stores， which is a clever way to bring the book to life even further。A marvellous early learning book from Dorling Kindersley， capturing all the great bits of many books before it and adding new and worthwhile content in abundance。 。。。more
