This is a well written, accessible and engaging book。 It covers a broad range of topics and included some materials that I have not often seen in change management books before (for example some of the material in chapter 5 and chapter 9)。 It’s practical and as you read it you sense that the author has real hands-on experience of doing the things noted in the book。 I suspect she is an excellent change practitioner。 The templates and forms all seem useful and reflect solid change management pract This is a well written, accessible and engaging book。 It covers a broad range of topics and included some materials that I have not often seen in change management books before (for example some of the material in chapter 5 and chapter 9)。 It’s practical and as you read it you sense that the author has real hands-on experience of doing the things noted in the book。 I suspect she is an excellent change practitioner。 The templates and forms all seem useful and reflect solid change management practice。Where I felt the book was less strong is that in many ways it feels quite old fashioned。 Although what it says is well explained, it says little that is new or not covered in other books。 I felt it was the author writing purely from the author’s experience and there is a lot of development in change management over the past decade which goes wider than any individual’s experience。 This book could have been written 10 ago and it would have reflected good change management practice then。 There is very limited reflection on the implications of thinking like Agile, and the plethora of new management approaches surrounding it, on change management – it is mentioned, but not really woven into the approach。 Nor is the advent of digital transformations in all their various guises reflected。 It presents change through the transaction lens of a traditional project-based approach。This would suit someone looking for a practical tried and tested approach to change。 A project-based approach is still a common form of driving change in organisations。 Given the subject matter this book would suit a project manager trying to get their head around change manager, or vice-versa a change manager looking for a more structured way of working in a project-based environment。 In both cases the book could be extremely helpful。 Where it would be less helpful would be in directing change that happens outside of projects, running larger scale transformational change, or someone seeking to understand agile change management approaches。 。。。more
