Summary

Guts, the feared Black Swordsman, is on the rampage — and it's personal。 Mozgus, the malefic master Inquisitor of the Holy See, in his murderous campaign against heretics, has captured Guts' former lover Casca and has her at the ready to be burned at the stake in the Tower of Conviction, little knowing that Casca's demonic Mark of Sacrifice is drawing hideous dark powers to the Tower。 It'll take everything Guts has and more to defeat Mozgus — who is much, much more than a man — and even if he can, will he be able to save Casca from the hordes of Hell amidst the inquisitor's disintegrating citadel?

Maybe。I need to put this away for a while if I ever hope to return to it。 3/5OmniBen。 。。。more

Anything that tries to follow up something as unbelievably amazing as the golden age arc will suffer a bit in comparison。 But that by no means makes the Conviction arc bad。 It is still very good with a lot of amazing moments and chapters。 I think this made me appreciate Puck more。 Because if I'm being honest, without a character like that。 This might get too dark for even someone like me who loves grimdark。 Anyway, I'll rate this: 7,8/10。 Anything that tries to follow up something as unbelievably amazing as the golden age arc will suffer a bit in comparison。 But that by no means makes the Conviction arc bad。 It is still very good with a lot of amazing moments and chapters。 I think this made me appreciate Puck more。 Because if I'm being honest, without a character like that。 This might get too dark for even someone like me who loves grimdark。 Anyway, I'll rate this: 7,8/10。 。。。more

Se cierra este arco con un final apoteósico。 Hasta en el final de los tiempos, Odio hace su aparición en el corazón humano。

AAAA another arc went by, so many new characters, so many new (weird) adventures, ive lost count of all the times ive seen zodd and the skeleton guy on a horse, griffith fuckin sucks now and casca's oblivious of anything that's going on 90% of the time。 also shes a witch? idk。 also RIP kentaro miura, his beautiful works will always be in everyones hearts。 berserk really is amazing。 AAAA another arc went by, so many new characters, so many new (weird) adventures, ive lost count of all the times ive seen zodd and the skeleton guy on a horse, griffith fuckin sucks now and casca's oblivious of anything that's going on 90% of the time。 also shes a witch? idk。 also RIP kentaro miura, his beautiful works will always be in everyones hearts。 berserk really is amazing。 。。。more

some things im noticing1。 nosferatu zodd's intact horn is way bigger than the stump of his lopped-off horn。 so much bigger that it has to be an intentional choice。。。 but why? also, we've seen the apostles regenerate limbs with ease, so why can't zodd regenerate his horn, a part of the body that naturally regenerates in most animals? miura, of course, is dead, and conveniently can't answer this question。。。2。 guts could probably win fights a lot quicker if he used his mechanical arm gadgets more。 some things im noticing1。 nosferatu zodd's intact horn is way bigger than the stump of his lopped-off horn。 so much bigger that it has to be an intentional choice。。。 but why? also, we've seen the apostles regenerate limbs with ease, so why can't zodd regenerate his horn, a part of the body that naturally regenerates in most animals? miura, of course, is dead, and conveniently can't answer this question。。。2。 guts could probably win fights a lot quicker if he used his mechanical arm gadgets more。 i guess he loves fighting so that's why he doesn't do it。 okay, makes sense。 。。。more

I was rather quiet confused with how Griffith came to be again。 Did he leave the Five? We know that the demon baby protected Casca, which isn't what Griffith would do。 Either way, I can now see where this is gonna go。 I was rather quiet confused with how Griffith came to be again。 Did he leave the Five? My god this portion of the story is staggeringly good。 I don't have any words that could do it justice。 When Miura is good, he's the best。 I wish he was this good all the time, though。 My god this portion of the story is staggeringly good。 I don't have any words that could do it justice。 When Miura is good, he's the best。 I wish he was this good all the time, though。 。。。more

We've hit review dump #2。 After Vol 8 it was going so well。 I had a slight trepidation about what was about to transpire because I could tell something was about to severely wrong。 However, the characters and the plot were so enticing that I trudged forward。 By all accounts, the plot has been so interesting and has not failed me。 Although, I will say that I wish Miura was a little more transparent about the basis for his world-building because I literally have no idea what the fuck is going on。 We've hit review dump #2。 After Vol 8 it was going so well。 I had a slight trepidation about what was about to transpire because I could tell something was about to severely wrong。 However, the characters and the plot were so enticing that I trudged forward。 By all accounts, the plot has been so interesting and has not failed me。 Although, I will say that I wish Miura was a little more transparent about the basis for his world-building because I literally have no idea what the fuck is going on。 I'm trying to figure out how all various kingdoms and the demon creatures fit in。 Not to mention, where the fuck the egg is coming from。 (And why an egg)。 But it's an interesting story。 And the cast has been fairly good as well。 [image error]I think I started to tap out around vol 12。 I'm always here for a good lil bit of depravity, but after vol 12, I think gore and the bloodshed took up more of the space than the plot itself。 At some point, the series just started contending for the award for the most amount of bloodshed one can fit in a volume。 The bloodshed wasn't getting us anywhere, there seemed little direction the MC's thoughts (view spoiler)[And quite frankly, I don't buy the narrative that the MC only knows bloodshed so he continued fighting battle after battle。 (hide spoiler)] It is possible I've gotten soft。 That being said my frustrations in the series are starting to spring as the bloodshed seems so purposeless。 The MC's actions are so out of scope and there's so little direction for where the book will go (I don't mean in an arc, but rather what the conclusion of the story will be)。 Some of the characters just lost their flavor and at this point, the whole series seems to be bent off vengeance。 And for a lot of the story, I'm just confused because I really can't wrap my head around the world-building。 I do want to say this series probably isn't my cup of tea, but will I continue? Maybe, just not for the next couple of days。 ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]> 。。。more

The conclusion of the Conviction Arc was disappointing to me。 There's a particular character that Kentaro has created that is the the equivalent 'magic chair syndrom' aka time travel, magic, the flash。。。。 basically, the ability no matter what to 'get out of jail free'。 I greatly dislike presence of these, as it just takes away from consequences and choices made throughout the story when you can just take everything away by sitting in your magic chair and righting all the wrongs in a snap of a fi The conclusion of the Conviction Arc was disappointing to me。 There's a particular character that Kentaro has created that is the the equivalent 'magic chair syndrom' aka time travel, magic, the flash。。。。 basically, the ability no matter what to 'get out of jail free'。 I greatly dislike presence of these, as it just takes away from consequences and choices made throughout the story when you can just take everything away by sitting in your magic chair and righting all the wrongs in a snap of a finger。 Even the death of one of my favorite new villians that was introduced within this arc was disappointing as well within this volume。 For one of the coolest bad guys in the series so far, he could have gone out with a little bit more of a bang。 And c'mon。。。 of course this isn't a spoiler。。。 Guts kills all that starts before him, we all know that after 20+ volumes at this point。 3/5 may be a bit too high。。。 I guess I can say this is a 2。5 with a round up。 。。。more

The series is damn good stuff。 It’s so visually spectacular and honed in on its core character and philosophy。 That is perhaps what I enjoy most, that and again the visual flair。The series is still damn good if your checking ahead to see if it nosedives。Damn good。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Griffith reborn。。。 whaaaaaaat? Interesting。 Excited to see what the whole Femto to deal was then。 Like does he not have obligations as a member of the Godhand? Maybe they just do their own thing。。。 because they’re demons。Nina’s arc ended better than I expected; her finding her equal in Joachim。I am hoping they’ll explain why the cave-dwelling egg boy birthed Griffith 2。 I’m sure they will。。。 He will, Miura。
