Summary

Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls in this adorable witchy rom-com with:

• A bisexual virgin baker with a curse
• A witch looking to avoid romantic entanglements
• And a chemistry between them that causes literal sparks

Danica Waterhouse is a fully modern witch—daughter, granddaughter, cousin, and co-owner of the Fix-It Witches, a magical tech repair shop。 After a messy breakup that included way too much family “feedback,” Danica made a pact with her cousin: they’ll keep their hearts protected and have fun, without involving any of the overly opinionated Waterhouse matriarchs。 Danica is more than a little exhausted navigating a long-standing family feud where Gram thinks the only good mundane is a dead one and Danica’s mother weaves floral crowns for anyone who crosses her path。

Three blocks down from the Fix-It Witches, Titus Winnaker, owner of Sugar Daddy’s bakery, has family trouble of his own。 After a tragic loss, all he’s got left is his sister, the bakery, and a lifetime of terrible luck in love。 Sure, business is sweet, but he can’t seem to shake the romantic curse that’s left him past thirty and still a virgin。 He’s decided he’s doomed to be forever alone。

Until he meets Danica Waterhouse。 The sparks are instant, their attraction irresistible。 For him, she’s the one。 To her, he’s a firebomb thrown in the middle of a family war。 Can a modern witch find love with an old-fashioned mundane who refuses to settle for anything less than forever?

If you like erotica and witchcraft, then I think you will really like this book。 I thought it was a good first installment in this series, and I wouldn't mind reading another book with these characters。 It was a bit off at points, but this could be because I listened to the audiobook rather than reading an e-book or physical copy。 Thank you Netgalley for giving me the chance to review this book! Ann Aguirre's Witch Please is a contemporary witch romance brimming with techy magic, baked goods, and family drama。 Danica is from a long line of powerful witches。 Between her coven/book club, witch family, and magic tech-repair shop, her life is brimming with charms and spells。 She is not, however, charmed when it comes to love。 Her last boyfriend from a witch line had everything her grandmother wanted for her, but when he breaks it off and marries a non-magical woman soon after, Danica commit Ann Aguirre's Witch Please is a contemporary witch romance brimming with techy magic, baked goods, and family drama。 Danica is from a long line of powerful witches。 Between her coven/book club, witch family, and magic tech-repair shop, her life is brimming with charms and spells。 She is not, however, charmed when it comes to love。 Her last boyfriend from a witch line had everything her grandmother wanted for her, but when he breaks it off and marries a non-magical woman soon after, Danica commits to a no-dating pact with her cousin。 Sworn off dating, and unable to marry a non-magical partner without losing her magic, she is unprepared for CinnaMan to walk into her life。 Titus is the new baker at Sugar Daddy's, a family bakery run with his sister。 His business has been thriving, but his personal life has been less than stellar。 After Titus's mother passed, his father quickly remarried a much younger woman and moved to live with his new family。 Not to mention his long string of girlfriends who moved to Alaska and boyfriends who left him for a job on a cruise。 At this point, Titus cannot help but think he is cursed to be single for the rest of his life。 But, when Titus meets Danica, both their family problems stand aside for their undeniable chemistry。Danica is a messy character dealing with family dating expectations and the prospect of a new guy who is perfect for her。 Her grandmother is a wild, emotionally abusive character who insists Danica and her cousin marry witches。 Something their mothers did not do。 This incredible family divide drives a majority of the plot and leads to Danica consistently flip-flopping between enthusiastically dating Titus and ghosting him。 It is honestly painful in the center。 If you are not a fan of characters who do not clearly communicate this is not the book for you。 Don't get me wrong, it is fun to be thrown around when you know they are going to end up together, but it is a wild ride。When you get to Titus's perspective the relationship rounds out。 His bakery, dog, and sister are all stellar, supportive figures in his life。 Unfortunately, he has consistently been abandoned by his partners and recently been abandoned by his father。 When you see how into Danica he is you have to root for him。 At times, his selflessness gets to him and he gets angry about it。 He is not a clean character, but he tries not to mess up the lives of people around him。 He is internally messy。 It is also fun that people in town call him the CinnaMan。 I am always down for a character who is unaware the entire town thinks he is hot。The book is one in a long line of witch romances being released this fall and I am down for the trend。 The coven is a fun way to integrate the magic system into the text without having to include blocks of explanatory information。 Also, the concept that her business is the best in town because she has tech magic is fun。 It is unfortunate that her grandmother is the worst, but all witches cannot be perfect。 If you are down for some casual magic in a contemporary setting Witch Please by Ann Aguirre might be fun。Thank you, Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley for providing the eARC of Witch Please by Ann Aguirre in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more

3。5 rounded up to 4。 Very cute and easy read with lovable characters and chock full of whimsy。 Yet something was missing。 Everything felt surface level and glossed over, like we sped through the story and I’m not sure why。 Still delightful, entertaining, and heartwarming, just not on a deep level。

I really wanted to love this one but the voice felt off for the demographic—even going for a more quirky tone。 And maybe some of that was it felt like it was relying on the quirk over real action for much of the book。 The witchiness felt rather light overall。 And it didn’t feel like all things were really resolved at the end。

Adorable! Will read more in the series as they come out!

3。5*This was cute but the execution felt a bit all over the place。 I struggled most with the world building - this felt like a fun rom-com that was playacting as a paranormal。 I don't know it just felt a little underwhelming in the PNR department。 Honestly my favorite part was Titus - he was the literal sweetest。 A baker who loves to read romance novels? Thoroughly enjoyed this。 It's a fun romp, and I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for the second book。 Removed a star because there was some vacillation between first and third person that drove me mildly insane。 Thoroughly enjoyed this。 It's a fun romp, and I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for the second book。 Removed a star because there was some vacillation between first and third person that drove me mildly insane。 。。。more

I received an ALC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。Danica is a witch with powers to fix technology。 Titus is a mundane baker with no witchy powers, but his baked goods make the townsfolk go wild。 When Danica and Titus meet for the first time, their chemistry causes literal sparks to fly。 Titus quite literally falls in love with Danica at first sight。 But his dating history is so bad that he thinks he's cursed to be a lonely virgin for the rest of his life。 As for Danica, she falls I received an ALC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。Danica is a witch with powers to fix technology。 Titus is a mundane baker with no witchy powers, but his baked goods make the townsfolk go wild。 When Danica and Titus meet for the first time, their chemistry causes literal sparks to fly。 Titus quite literally falls in love with Danica at first sight。 But his dating history is so bad that he thinks he's cursed to be a lonely virgin for the rest of his life。 As for Danica, she falls pretty hard for Titus, but she's afraid that starting a relationship with Titus will result in the loss of her powers。 The romance was sweet and steamy。 Danica is likeable enough, but to be honest, Titus is the highlight of this book。 He's the reason I kept reading。 I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Titus 🥺 I love a shy cinnamon roll hero。 And the fact that he's a baker on top of that?! YES, PLEASE!! Titus was such a sweetheart 🥺 I want Titus to bake me red velvet cupcakes and hug me when I'm sad 🥺The world building is interesting, but it was also vague for majority of the book。 I got a bit frustrated with the lack of answers, but it turns out that the author did this on purpose。 It's not until the final act that I finally got the answers I was looking for。 There is an actual plot twist in regards to Titus's curse that I did not see coming。 That being said, the story feels incomplete for two main reasons。 One: there is no resolution with Danica's grandmother。 Danica didn't even confront her grandmother about the lies and manipulations。 I like that Danica had an open and honest conversation with her mom, but she also needed to have that conversation with her grandmother。 How are we supposed to believe that her grandmother will leave Danica and Titus alone? Two: this may be a minor spoiler, but I don't like that Titus doesn't really know that Danica is a witch。 I also think that Titus was entitled to an explanation after Danica found out the truth from her mom。 I can't help but feel like the author was scared to dig deeper and push the characters further。 Despite liking the vibe of this world and loving Titus, I can't help but feel that the ending was a cop-out。Audiobook:I listened to this on audio and I enjoyed the narration。 It wasn't spectacular or anything, but it was engaging enough。P。S。 I am kind of intrigued about Clem and the witch hunter。。。so I may pick up the next book。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This was my first halloween-ish read of the month and I am a bit disappointed。 It took me a little while to get into it and when I did I wanted to shake the heroine。 She was being manipulated by her cousin, her friends and her grandma。 She should be able to make her own decisions and not be hated upon for choosing who she wanted to love。 It seemed strange that none of her friends said to her, love who you want to love but instead said get him out of your system。 It was such a strange way to look This was my first halloween-ish read of the month and I am a bit disappointed。 It took me a little while to get into it and when I did I wanted to shake the heroine。 She was being manipulated by her cousin, her friends and her grandma。 She should be able to make her own decisions and not be hated upon for choosing who she wanted to love。 It seemed strange that none of her friends said to her, love who you want to love but instead said get him out of your system。 It was such a strange way to look at it。 Plus why didn’t she talk to her mother about her and her fathers relationship。 I feel like that would have cleared up so much。 Plus the witch hunter was this huge problem but then took a back seat as he just seemed to be a love interest for the cousin who ended up being a hypocrite。 。。。more

Some random musings about audiobooks (aka revelations I’ve had while listening to Witch Please this week 🧙‍♀️and also a short review) …1。 While listening to an audiobook at work (or any other public place), it is slightly embarrassing when your audio output isn’t connected and said audio book blares across the room。 2。 Sometimes audio books can mask their selves as G-rated, when in reality there can be some very unexpected raunchy scenes。 Plan your surroundings accordingly。 3。 As talented as a n Some random musings about audiobooks (aka revelations I’ve had while listening to Witch Please this week 🧙‍♀️and also a short review) …1。 While listening to an audiobook at work (or any other public place), it is slightly embarrassing when your audio output isn’t connected and said audio book blares across the room。 2。 Sometimes audio books can mask their selves as G-rated, when in reality there can be some very unexpected raunchy scenes。 Plan your surroundings accordingly。 3。 As talented as a narrator may be, some individuals are just not good at changing their voices for multiple characters。 Case in point: the aforementioned raunchy scenes in this book felt extra awkward in the aforementioned setting due to the narrator’s awkward “male” character voice in this book。 😑I don’t often listen to audio books while working but this one WAS easy to keep up with while being otherwise productive with multiple projects! It’s a cute story about witches living secretly in society with otherwise “mundane” people。 Somewhat predictable love story and family drama, but festive for this time of year, nonetheless。 I might have enjoyed it more if it were narrated by the voices in my head though! 3 to maybe 3。5 stars, considering the audio version wasn't the best。 。。。more

This is a good 2 stars though!!! I did enjoy reading it (listened in 2 days) but at the end of the day I thought it was bad dialogue, weak character development, stupid plot, unbelievable connection, and somehow both explicitly graphic “love scenes” that had no chemistry or fireworks。 There I said it。 I’ll forgot it by next week。 Clearly setting up for a series, but I have no faith it’ll get better so I won’t read it。 It just felt very unbelievable to me。 My expectations were high and this could This is a good 2 stars though!!! You see, I was facing my biggest reading slump yet when they approved this arc for me, and I wanted to scream because God, this cover is just so beautiful but I couldn't bring myself to read the book。 So I decided to take a break and give it the opportunity when I was feeling a little better。 And so I did it。First of all, excuse me if there's any mistakes of grammar or something, this is not my first language and I'm still practicing it。 Second of all, I really liked this book。 It's not my favor You see, I was facing my biggest reading slump yet when they approved this arc for me, and I wanted to scream because God, this cover is just so beautiful but I couldn't bring myself to read the book。 So I decided to take a break and give it the opportunity when I was feeling a little better。 And so I did it。First of all, excuse me if there's any mistakes of grammar or something, this is not my first language and I'm still practicing it。 Second of all, I really liked this book。 It's not my favorite in the whole world, but it was a cute read to pass the time。 I feel like the concept of modern witches was funny and entertaining, and I liked that there was diversity and the story, but there was something so。。。 convenient? Yeah, let's call it that, convenient about all of this。 Like, all the stuff with the curse in Danika's family, how they know the truth just until the end? Why nobody asked questions way before?? The grandmother was making all of their lives miserable and they never asked anything about it, I mean。。。 Also, I think the romance was so sudden, they were in love way too fast for my liking, but again, they had a reason for that to happen and it's reveled at the end, so I'll take it, but can you see where I'm coming from with the convenient factor thing?I liked the characters too。 I don't know why I didn't feel any deep connections with them, because they were endearing and had hilarious thoughts all the time。 Let's blame that on me, I guess。 There was something I just didn't click with, and that's okay because it doesn't made me hate it or dislike it。 Maybe it was the practically instant romance they had。。。 I wanted angst, pinning and forbidden love, all with funny banter and slow burn。。。 because the premise of the book have all the potential for it。 But they were in love since the beginning and Titus wanted to marry her since he saw her for the first time。 I think this sounds romantic in the theory。。。 but in practice, not so much。I also laughed out loud when they explained why Titus had terrible luck in love since he was young and remain a virgin all that time。 Poor guy, he had no idea。 But again, all that situation could be handled in a different way。。。 I felt like it didn't have the importance they made it seem to have in the sinopsis, and it was over without much thought。 I mean, I guess it's better not to put much idea in it, after all is a social construction and all that, but the concept of a male virgin love interest it's quite rare, and it would be interesting to see it develop the way it is with female ones。 Like that would be cool, you know? See the roles reverse just for once。Overall, like I said in the beginning, it was a cute read。 It has diversity, it has family drama and friendships。。。 and I think this series has so much potential。 Looking forward to the next one。 。。。more

Witch Please is described as a witchy rom-com where Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls。 For the most part I would agree with that description, but I was just left wanting more from this book。 Initially there wasn't that hook, which is why it took me long to finish。 I also am not 100% sold on audiobooks yet, so that was definitely a factor。 I picked up on the Gilmore Girls vibe with the small town feel and the main characters working in little shops, but other than that I really didn't see the c Witch Please is described as a witchy rom-com where Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls。 For the most part I would agree with that description, but I was just left wanting more from this book。 Initially there wasn't that hook, which is why it took me long to finish。 I also am not 100% sold on audiobooks yet, so that was definitely a factor。 I picked up on the Gilmore Girls vibe with the small town feel and the main characters working in little shops, but other than that I really didn't see the connection。 The only connection to Practical Magic was the "curse" and magical aspect, and I wasn't super impressed with either of these elements。 It just wasn't strong enough for me。 The curse turned out to be bit too weird for me and raised a lot of questions -- why the big focus on virginity? For having Witch in the title, I really expected more magic! I feel like Danica rarely used her magic! The romance was definitely too insta-love for me to get into。 In the end, I understand why the insta-love happened, but while it was happening it didn't feel right。 The chemistry between I think some of my biggest issues were the subplots that didn't feel developed enough。 The witch hunting thing?? There was barely any time spent on this! Lucy was introduced WAY too late into the book。 By the time this storyline started I did not care about her -- there was barely any reason FOR me to care about her。 I think it was just a bit too all over the place for me。 I don't think enough time was spent developing these aspects of the plot, and so I could have done without them honestly。 。。。more

This was a fun and cutesy romance read with modern-day witches。 I enjoyed it overall, though the plot became less exciting the more that I read。 It seems like some of the things I was intrigued about will be answered in the sequel to this book。 While the focus is on modern-day witches, there’s a lot more rom-com than magic。 It is cool that one of the main characters is bisexual though。 tWitch Please follows two main characters, Danica and Titus。 Two people living in a small town in the North Eas This was a fun and cutesy romance read with modern-day witches。 I enjoyed it overall, though the plot became less exciting the more that I read。 It seems like some of the things I was intrigued about will be answered in the sequel to this book。 While the focus is on modern-day witches, there’s a lot more rom-com than magic。 It is cool that one of the main characters is bisexual though。 tWitch Please follows two main characters, Danica and Titus。 Two people living in a small town in the North East of the United States, who somehow never met before。 This changes when Titus, the hot local baker, nicknamed CinnaMan by a group of women, has a broken oven that needs fixing。 Danica and her cousin are witches and their special powers involve technology - they can fix anything with the touch of their fingers。 To keep their powers a secret, they carry around a toolbox to any job they do。 But, their business is still called The Fix-It Witches。 Yet, none of the regular non-witches suspect a thing。tDanica and Titus meeting for the first time has literal sparks, as a blender malfunctions the moment Titus walks into the Fix-It Witches shop。 Even their dialogue is full of immediate chemistry as they have a witty back and forth banter。 This banter is present throughout the entire book and does provide consistent humor, albeit sometimes cheesy。 The issue with this chemistry is that if Danica dates a Mundane (non-magical person), then she risks loses her witch powers。 For the rest of the book, we see Danica and Titus navigate their insane attraction to each other while trying to deal with the possible problems it may bring for each of them。tI found the first half of the book to be a lot more entertaining than the second half。 Not that I didn’t enjoy the second half, it just went in a more lackluster direction than I expected。 The mystery and excitement built by the first half fell a bit flat in the second half。 The second half had a lot of cute moments but was overall extremely predictable。 One of the things I did enjoy most from the second half of the book was the plot point involving Titus’ step-sister Lucy。 tEven though I’m giving this book three stars, I still enjoyed the read and would definitely recommend it to rom-com lovers。 Even though it has witches, I’d say only read this if you’re into rom-coms, or else it’s not really for you。 Although I did enjoy the witchy aspects, I don’t feel like it dominated over the rom-com genre。 It’s a fun read and an easy read, the plot just isn’t mind-blowing。 Which is completely okay! Some books are meant to be quick fun。 。。。more

I think this was a cute contemporary romance。 I wouldn't call it a fantasy romance at all since the magic aspect is so minimal that if your looking for a strong punch of fantasy romance, I wouldn't suggest this。 I think it's cute and fluffy and sometimes a bit unrealistic, but I kind of knew that going in。 I think the only aspect that really grated on me is the focus on Titus' virginity。 The first and second time didn't bother me, but the fact it kept being brought up felt really ridiculous。 I w I think this was a cute contemporary romance。 I wouldn't call it a fantasy romance at all since the magic aspect is so minimal that if your looking for a strong punch of fantasy romance, I wouldn't suggest this。 I think it's cute and fluffy and sometimes a bit unrealistic, but I kind of knew that going in。 I think the only aspect that really grated on me is the focus on Titus' virginity。 The first and second time didn't bother me, but the fact it kept being brought up felt really ridiculous。 I would definitely read the rest of the series though。 Its fun and cheesy in the best way。 。。。more
