Summary

It's a hot, lazy day, perfect for a cookout, until you see those strange dark clouds。 Suddenly a violent storm sweeps across the lake and ends as abruptly and unexpectedly as it had begun。 Then comes the mist。。。creeping slowly, inexorably into town, where it settles and waits, trapping you in the supermarket with dozens of others, cut off from your families and the world。 The mist is alive, seething with unearthly sounds and movements。 What unleashed this terror? Was it the Arrowhead Project---the top secret government operation that everyone has noticed but no one quite understands? And what happens when the provisions have run out and you're forced to make your escape, edging blindly through the dim light?

Amazing! I actually wanted to give it 5 stars, but knowing how amazing the ending could have been (ahem, 2007’s The Mist movie), I did feel a bit let down by the ending of the novella。 However, everything else was absolutely horrifying and entertaining。 Read it!

I loved that!Really tense, really heavy Lovecraftian horror。Disgusting, brutal, and dark。Definitely one of my favorite King novellas。

This was definitely spooky and atmospheric。 I love the premise of the mist as a result of some government project gone wrong。 Very 'stranger things' vibes。 Only thing I didn't love was the main character。 He was kind of lame and was stuck in a grocery store for only 18 hrs before deciding he was justified in cheating on his wife lol This was definitely spooky and atmospheric。 I love the premise of the mist as a result of some government project gone wrong。 Very 'stranger things' vibes。 Only thing I didn't love was the main character。 He was kind of lame and was stuck in a grocery store for only 18 hrs before deciding he was justified in cheating on his wife lol 。。。more

David finds out what people will do to get out of the unknown。 This is one of my favorite Steven King novels。 It's short, sweet, to the point, and there's less problematic themes that King likes to really pound into in his normal 400+ page books。 There's still quite a bit of misogyny in this novel as well, which I found really annoying。 However, it is a solid story with just enough conspiracy, horror, and grotesque depravity to keep my attention。 。。。more

I admire how King dares to write such real main characters characters but isn’t afraid to kill them off。 Doing so makes the tone feel very plausible, which is all the more frightening to read。 King isn’t afraid to go deeper, twist with the mind, and create weird, impossible plots。 This one was truly bizarre, yet somehow felt like something that could happen in our real world。 Also, the ending of the book is somewhat happy? “The mist is coming。”“Death to go out there。”“Get it off me。”While the premise and beginning of the book was promising and gripping, its interest soon faded like the mist。 This was classic Stephen King in many ways; a relatable main character, campy unrealistic dialogue, plenty of creepiness, and some situations we could all see ourselves in with a storm that rages havoc。 But my issue was that book ran out of steam and resorted to an unbelievable creature。 I felt like the whole mist/fog idea had “The mist is coming。”“Death to go out there。”“Get it off me。”While the premise and beginning of the book was promising and gripping, its interest soon faded like the mist。 This was classic Stephen King in many ways; a relatable main character, campy unrealistic dialogue, plenty of creepiness, and some situations we could all see ourselves in with a storm that rages havoc。 But my issue was that book ran out of steam and resorted to an unbelievable creature。 I felt like the whole mist/fog idea had a nice creep factor that in itself was a character and much more menacing than some tentacled monstrosity。 This is where realism ended and the book limped to the end。 And the ending had no thought process involved which is why I believe this was a novella and not a novel。 Very much a disappointment for an author who is very hit or miss。 。。。more

The book is way better than the movie and the show。

3。5 stars。。。I gotta say this is one of those situations where I think the movie is better。 The book is really good。。。but the movie really nailed the atmosphere and the ending in the movie was so much more powerful。

i’m sorry, but what the hell was this? i have zero emotions after reading this book。 total waste of time: not really eerie, annoying characters, bad ending。 only giving 2 stars because some imagery/quotes were decent

Classic Stephen King。 I feel like I've seen the movie before but it was good to listen to this book for the first time。 So much about the mysterious mist is left to the readers imagination that this really does become a great horror。 Classic Stephen King。 I feel like I've seen the movie before but it was good to listen to this book for the first time。 So much about the mysterious mist is left to the readers imagination that this really does become a great horror。 。。。more

Such a good horror novella, would have gotten 5 stars with a solid conclusion。 For once, I can wholeheartedly say, the movie was better than the book。Full reviews on my BookTube: https://youtube。com/channel/UCdcrRHDe。。。 Such a good horror novella, would have gotten 5 stars with a solid conclusion。 For once, I can wholeheartedly say, the movie was better than the book。Full reviews on my BookTube: https://youtube。com/channel/UCdcrRHDe。。。 。。。more

Another great novella by King! It’s much better than the series on it。 However it’s only 4 stars for me because one scene in particular (it’s not gory or anything, I just didn’t like it)
