Summary

The way of the Shaman is a good series。 But， it ended in book6。 This feels like it is an attempt to drag it from the grave。 I read about 5 chapters before I gave up。

The previous book seemed to resolved all the Mahan's problem - both in real life and in the game。 Looks like a smooth road from this point on， right？ Right？ WRONG！！！ His remaining allies started doing what all allies （in our world and in literature） do best: they organized a game called "Betray Mahan the Most Spectacular Way"。 Luckily for Mahan his bitter enemies can help him - for the price of cause; a price what would bring permanent consequences。This book completely turns everything we （the r The previous book seemed to resolved all the Mahan's problem - both in real life and in the game。 Looks like a smooth road from this point on， right？ Right？ WRONG！！！ His remaining allies started doing what all allies （in our world and in literature） do best: they organized a game called "Betray Mahan the Most Spectacular Way"。 Luckily for Mahan his bitter enemies can help him - for the price of cause; a price what would bring permanent consequences。This book completely turns everything we （the readers） know and expect from this world and its inhabitants; full 180 degrees。 For this reason parts of the tale are confusing - and not always in good sense。 I will give a little spoiler: I expect anybody would fail to understand completely what the game came to by the end。 Real Mahan life however is the different story。 This part made me feel really bad for him at the end。 It also gave a final （？） closure to the series。 Is the book worth reading or would I advise to pretend the previous one ended the series？ It gave a nice closure。 My answer: it depends and the jury is still our there。 I can only repeat myself: the game part will confuse the hell out of you， but the real life parts are quite good。 Which one do you care most？ Game: stop after book 6。 Mahan outside of it: read this one。On the whole no matter what， the first 6 books are great and are recommended to anybody who does not have severe allergic reaction to LitRPGs， especially books 1 and 2。 Myself - even if I was not exactly crazy about the later installments - I will read the next book even though I expect I will hate it and will curse a lot while reading。 This is in case the next book is coming。 And I do not see why not， considering the success of the series so far; it would be a shame not to turn it into a cash cow （or a retirement plan if you want a nicer term）。 。。。more

Listened to the audio book， so I paid less attention to the details than if I was reading it。 But it was still a fun geeky story。 It wasn’t as gripping as the first two books in this series but it was fun to continue the story anyways。

Should have ended with the original final book。 The MC goes on a bragging spree for most of the book and the plot is not great。 In short， all the nagging ingredients of the previous books are now the main attraction so it makes for an annoying book。

Jestli mě něco naučily předchozí díly， tak to， že čím míň nad tím vším přemýšlím， tím líp。 Poslední díl byl ale i na poměry celé série mimořádně přitažený za vlasy a obavám se， že nad posledními stránkami Války klanů mi poumírala většina mozkových buněk。

Pros: the fun banter has returned， problems are overcome in increasingly inventive ways， and Mahan’s growing abilities are great。 Cons: Mahan makes some surprisingly immature decisions early on， the ending is very convoluted， and the “ending” ending makes no sense whatsoever。
