Summary

In this steamy tale by USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, an American searching for her purpose escapes to a Scottish town but finds more questions than answers when she meets a brooding yet handsome handyman。

Freshly fired from her third job in a row, Bonnie St。 James has lost her way。 So when she and her best friend stumble upon a “help wanted” post to run a coffee shop in the Scottish Highlands, they apply on a whim。 Who knows? Maybe traveling to a new place is just what she needs to figure out her next move。

When the friends arrive in the tiny idyllic town of Corsekelly, they instantly fall for the gorgeous Highland landscape and friendly townspeople。 But Bonnie finds a less-than-warm welcome in Rowan MacGregor, the rugged local handyman。 Busy wrestling his own demons, Rowan’s in no mood to deal with the quirky American—even if she is a bonny lass。

As Bonnie and Rowan’s paths inevitably cross, insults—and sparks—fly。 Can the pair build on their similarities to help each other find purpose and direction…and maybe romance too? Or will their passionate tempers fling them apart?

Slapstick with a bit of heart and a charming Scottish village。 The friends traveling to Scotland on a whim finding themselves and love with some funny antics thrown in。 Very predictable。 "kilty Mcgrumpshire" was a good guy dealing with a lot of grief。 Bonnie and her friend were like family。 Slapstick with a bit of heart and a charming Scottish village。 The friends traveling to Scotland on a whim finding themselves and love with some funny antics thrown in。 Very predictable。 "kilty Mcgrumpshire" was a good guy dealing with a lot of grief。 Bonnie and her friend were like family。 。。。more

SWOON!What the hell did I just read?! Give me a quirky, sassy hilarious duo of girl friends and a broody, dry witted, hot man。。。in a quaint charming Scottish town and apparently all my book cravings have been satisfied。 This book was HILARIOUS and also so very real。 Everyone can relate to self doubt and losing yourself at times。 This book was like a breath of fresh air。

Not sure why, but it took me a minute to get into this one。 I was around the 50% mark when it really became "unputdownable" for me, and I'll admit during the last third, I was yelling out loud at the H (something I rarely do) and crying at the end。 Great weekend read。 Lovable side characters & the best friend's story is basically a secondary story to the MCs。 Enjoy it very much。 Not sure why, but it took me a minute to get into this one。 I was around the 50% mark when it really became "unputdownable" for me, and I'll admit during the last third, I was yelling out loud at the H (something I rarely do) and crying at the end。 Great weekend read。 Lovable side characters & the best friend's story is basically a secondary story to the MCs。 Enjoy it very much。 。。。more

This novel was entertaining and had a feel good ending。 It kept the readers interest because of the location, Scotland。 It was interesting learning about Scottish customs and food。

Too much explicit sexSuch a great story! Romance, laughs, friendship, family。 But the explicit sex scenes and talk are just too much for this old lady! Too bad, I might have enjoyed following this author。 Her humor is fantastic。

4。5 stars!! This book frustrated me but also made me so silly happy。 I loved story and the meaning about finding yourself and learning to love yourself flaws and all。 Each character had their own issues within themselves and I think all of them found a great resolution their problems。 I loved that the romance while helping them find their way to that point wasn’t the only thing that brought them peace。 This made me want a grumpy scotsman and to move to Scotland ASAP!!

Cute storyI enjoyed this rom-com。 Bonnie had me cracking up sometimes。 The story line was a bit predictable but still enjoyable。

What a surprisingly heartfelt and delightfully funny Rom-Com! Maybe a change of scenery is just what they need。Arriving in Scotland, Bonnie and Dakota are instantly charmed by the landscape and friendly people。 But Bonnie is not so charmed by Rowan, the son of the couple that owns the coffee shop。 She finds him rude, abrasive, and。。well。。grumpy )Hence her nickname for him: Kilty McGrumpyshire) Rowan Rowan is less than impressed by the Americans who have come to run his parent's coffee shop。 He has no time or patience for the quirky Bonnie。 But in a small town like Corsekelly, they are bound to run into each other and when they do, sparks, jabs, and insults fly。 But as the two spend more time together, they start to recognize how lost they both were, and maybe, they can help each other find their way。 I picked this up because it was the choice for Amazon's RomCom book club。 I had never heard of Megan Quinn let alone read anything by her, but all you have to do is say "Hunky Scottish Grump" and that is about all I need to pick up the book。I was only three chapters into the audiobook when I had to stop listening because I was laughing so hard I was crying and driving at the same time。 This had one of THE funniest scenes (Yes, it concerns a penis) that I have ever read and I don't remember the last time a book made me laugh that way。 It was so easy to be charmed by the setting (Scotland is at the top of my bucket list), the adorable cast of characters, as well as the banter between Rowan and Bonnie。 And what's more, there are definitely harder-hitting aspects to this story as well as Rowan is dealing with some unresolved family issues stemming from a past loss。I do recommend the audiobook for this with one caveat: Though I love to sit and listen to a Scotsman talk for hours, he was not the best at voicing Bonnie。 He made every word that came out of her mouth sound insincere and sarcastic, which, when they were bantering was fine, but did not work for the more serious moments。The female narrator was fantastic and definitely brought to life the funny scene I mentioned above。 I don't know if it would have it me quite as funny had I not been listening to it。I think I will definitely have to check out more from Meghan Quinn in the future because this was just such a gem! 。。。more

Good but annoyingI listened on the way to work。 I don’t know if it was the voice of the female narrator or the way she portrayed Bonnie, but Bonnie became very annoying to me。 I also figured out the whole book like three chapters in and it frustrated me that the characters were so slow to act on things。 You wanted to reach in and throttle them It was a good story and made me want to go to Scotland for sure。

This audio book was fantastic! The narrators really nailed the accents and I was thoroughly entertained。 The story starts off with a grumpy hero and there is tension between Bonnie and Rowen。 But after being forced to spend some time together, they are able to get along。 I want to go to this town that they are in (Scotland)。 It sounds so pleasant and all the talk of those baked goods had me drooling。 I learned about a bunch of new Scottish things like harry coos, tattie scones and butteries。 It This audio book was fantastic! Laugh out loud funny! This is the first of Meghan Quinn’s books that I’ve read。 And I just have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it。 I laughed out loud the entire book。 My husband wasn’t too happy when I read it while he was trying to sleep 😂。 The female lead in this book is a character in her own league。 Her personality became tangible and by the end of the book she seemed so relatable and real。 The sense of humor in this book is off the charts funny。 I would absolutely recommend this book if you wa Laugh out loud funny! 2。5Silly and cringey in a LOT of parts。 Reads more like a fanfic than anything else。 Beyond that, the MC is sweet and goes through good growth。 The love interest is a lovely cliché, but that is all well and good for the genre。

Rare and wonderful I laughed (a lot) and cried。 I wasn’t sure that a book called Highland Fling would be more than girl porn but the characters sucked you in and made you care。Ms Quinn writes very clever dialogue that makes me laugh。
