Summary

As featured in the bestselling book The Secret, here is the landmark guide to wealth creation republished with the classic essay “How to Get What You Want。” Wallace D。 Wattles spent a lifetime considering the laws of success as he found them in the work of the world’s great philosophers。 He then turned his life effort into this simple, slender book – a volume that he vowed could replace libraries of philosophy, spirituality, and self-help for the purpose of attaining one definite goal: a life of prosperity。 Wattles describes a definite science of wealth attraction, built on the foundation of one commanding idea: “There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made…A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought。” In his seventeen short, straight-to-the-point chapters, Wattles shows how to use this idea, how to overcome barriers to its application, and how work with very direct methods that awaken it in your life。 He further explains how creation and not competition is the hidden key to wealth attraction, and how your power to get rich uplifts everyone around you。 The Science of Getting Rich concludes with Wattle’s rare essay “How to Get Want You Want” – a brilliant refresher of his laws of wealth creation。

Quackery。 Despite the authors claims that this book was in no way philosophical and utterly scientific, this book was entirely philosophic and devoid of anything approaching science。 Science is fundamentally a methodology of testing to prove a theory; testing is absolutely forbidden here。 The author gives a mantra to be quoted repeatedly ad infinitum without question, without logic, but only with Faith, and then asserts if the mantra is not adhered to exactly with a perfect intention behind it a Quackery。 Despite the authors claims that this book was in no way philosophical and utterly scientific, this book was entirely philosophic and devoid of anything approaching science。 Science is fundamentally a methodology of testing to prove a theory; testing is absolutely forbidden here。 The author gives a mantra to be quoted repeatedly ad infinitum without question, without logic, but only with Faith, and then asserts if the mantra is not adhered to exactly with a perfect intention behind it all efforts will be in vain, poverty and despair will be the result。 Save your time and money。 。。。more

This is a great book for specific paths to getting rich。 I really appreciate the length although I understand why they did it this way。 Wallace did a great job with the flow of knowledge and putting it into most basic form however when they started carrying the religious undertones I was surprised especially since he made sure to mention no use of magick but yet relies on some religion context to frame some of the knowledge。 It’s a great concept but loses connection with me around those parts。 T This is a great book for specific paths to getting rich。 I really appreciate the length although I understand why they did it this way。 Wallace did a great job with the flow of knowledge and putting it into most basic form however when they started carrying the religious undertones I was surprised especially since he made sure to mention no use of magick but yet relies on some religion context to frame some of the knowledge。 It’s a great concept but loses connection with me around those parts。 The way I see it if you have to use magick let it be so, just avoid baneful actions and you’ll be good to go。 I wanna check out the 21st century version to see if that version is more my speed。 This one is ok but could be revised around the areas I mentioned above。 。。。more

The title is clearly wrong and misleading。 Let me quote the book on what it says about its core tenants:"Do not ask why these things are true, nor speculate as to how they can be true; simply take them on trust。The science of getting rich begins with the absolute acceptance of this faith。"Now here's a simple definition of science:"Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence。"Science is The title is clearly wrong and misleading。 Let me quote the book on what it says about its core tenants:"Do not ask why these things are true, nor speculate as to how they can be true; simply take them on trust。The science of getting rich begins with the absolute acceptance of this faith。"Now here's a simple definition of science:"Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence。"Science is understanding things based on EVIDENCE acquired through systematic questioning and experimenting, not faith。 So the title should be more like The Faith of Getting Rich。 Don't mistake this for science。 。。。more

Interesting book based on eastern religious and transcendentalist principles of life applying them to life in early modern America (published 1910)。 It is a precursor to "The Secret" and other books about the so-called Law of Attraction。I rate it favorably because it's more "how to flourish as a person in a capitalist world" than "how to be a good capitalist" or "how to get what you want by just thinking。" For example, a central tenet is the need to operate on the creative plane of life/business Interesting book based on eastern religious and transcendentalist principles of life applying them to life in early modern America (published 1910)。 It is a precursor to "The Secret" and other books about the so-called Law of Attraction。I rate it favorably because it's more "how to flourish as a person in a capitalist world" than "how to be a good capitalist" or "how to get what you want by just thinking。" For example, a central tenet is the need to operate on the creative plane of life/business/human interaction and to avoid the competitive plane。 ("You are to create, not to compete for what is already created。") Gratitude is another tenet of living "in the Certain Way。" I am guessing people have found it persuasive because of its thesis that flourishing, that is living in harmony with the divine infinite, can make you rich。 One outdated point of view is its assertion that the best way an individual can alleviate poverty is to not be poor themselves; while it is out of step with today's culture in many ways, it is also in many ways an antidote for the anxiety of now。 "That which makes you want more money is the same as that which makes the plant grow; it is Life, seeking fuller expression。 。。。 Nature is friendly to your plans。" 。。。more

But working just hard, productively, making your clients happy won’t make you rich nowadays。 Working more doesn’t make you rich, working smart and choosing the right niche - does。 And this is what I’m missing in this book。 But again, that’s 1910 。。。more

There were some good points in this book, but overall it made me cringe repeatedly。 The book is good in that it references the teachings of Jesus repeatedly, but it really gets it wrong with the purpose of life and love。 The premises mentioned in Chapter 1 verge, that the whole purpose of life is to be wealthy, are garbage。 So, what is the secret science to getting rich? I was skeptical and hesitant to read this book。 I thought it was going to be extremely outdated and masculine in nature。 However, besides the terminology used (man/he/his), it was pleasantly rooted in a feminine type power。 I would not have picked up this book if it wasn't recommended to me by a badass Goddess I know。 So if that is what you need to give this book a try - from one badass Goddess to another - this book is worth a read。Now off to my riches bitches。 Peace out。 I was skeptical and hesitant to read this book。 I thought it was going to be extremely outdated and masculine in nature。 However, besides the terminology used (man/he/his), it was pleasantly rooted in a feminine type power。 I would not have picked up this book if it wasn't recommended to me by a badass Goddess I know。 So if that is what you need to give this book a try - from one badass Goddess to another - this book is worth a read。Now off to my riches bitches。 Peace out。 。。。more
