Beautiful pictures。 The photographer as well as those who did the plantings and floral arrangements are artists。 Some trivia and gift suggestions (minimal)。

I brought this book because I was homesick and one of my favorite things when I lived in NY was the way spring bloomed everywhere。

Finally learned the name of the magnolia I’ve been mooning over: saucer magnolia。Daffodils are one of my favorites as well and I had no idea that the city had embraced them so as a symbol of renewal after 9/11。

Krista

5 stars for the gorgeous photos!

Beautiful book! The photos are amazing and the text is well-written。 Just what I needed to lift my spirits! I may have to get Paris in Bloom too。

Absolutely gorgeous book! I am just leaving this out on my coffee table all spring and try to look at it daily! The past few years I have traveled to NYC in April, as well as October。 Not being able to travel in 2020 or 2021, I got this book as a tribute to the beautiful spring season in NYC and as a way to visualize the floral upulance from my living room。 It has been a great disappointment for me to not be there personally, but Ms。 Lane has made it a bit easier。 In fact, I sent my son in NYC a Absolutely gorgeous book! A really great visual tribute to the great city! A book I will never tire of looking at。 Each page is a work of art! 。。。more

I loved all the photography。 The writing, though totally suited to this book, was too florid for my own person tastes。 Great!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I feel the same about this book as I did Paris in bloom。 I don’t like the fact the picture were washed out。 Maybe that’s the photographer styles but it’s not my cup of tea。 I do like this book a little over the Paris one and that’s mainly because I live in NYC。

I’m all out of cities In Bloom! 😢 I’ve read and salivated over all of them。 Loved the details and beauty! Definitely a must see guide when in NYC。

Trish

This book is full of beautiful flowers。

Jenny

A beautiful photography book to enjoy with a warm cup of tea。 The pages deliver a refreshing look at a much photographed city through lush foliage and using a plethora of camera angles that highlight the floral mass through Summer and Spring。

Rachel

Gorgeous photography!

Stefanie

I wish words and stories were attached to the photographs and not just the book being 75 percent photographs without a story or meaning behind them。 I guess New York has been the subject of so many photography books and sites, so I was hoping for something really special out of this book, because her first book on Paris was pretty magical。One extra star for how beautiful the photographs were though, but I did feel overwhelmed when I was just flipping through pages and pages of photos

So much Beauty, so much Detail and great Index in the End! Loved it。

The visuals in this book are beautiful。 It's a treat just to see the variety of colours, patterns, images that the photographer was able to capture。 The descriptions in each section are nice to read and really gives you a glimpse of New York in the springtime。 In the end of the book, I appreciated the addresses and what is in bloom where at what time。 However, none of the pictures have any captions or comments。 So it's a visual splendor, but I felt like I lacked some connection to the images bec The visuals in this book are beautiful。 It's a treat just to see the variety of colours, patterns, images that the photographer was able to capture。 The descriptions in each section are nice to read and really gives you a glimpse of New York in the springtime。 In the end of the book, I appreciated the addresses and what is in bloom where at what time。 However, none of the pictures have any captions or comments。 So it's a visual splendor, but I felt like I lacked some connection to the images because there was no description or no thoughts by the author。 I like to read about why a certain image was taken, what's in the image, or where it is。 I guess that's a personal preference。 Either way, this book does capture the beauty of flowers in bloom。 。。。more

She's done it again。 Georgianna Lane is an amazing photographer, and her talents don't stop there。 She writes and photographs simply stunning books, like this one。One of the things I love about New York in Bloom is the incredible thoroughness with which Georgianna approached her subject。 After reading it, I really felt as though I'd enjoyed an amazing tour of the city。 On this tour, instead of riding around on a bus full of sweaty strangers listening to a guide make corny jokes on a microphon She's done it again。 Georgianna Lane is an amazing photographer, and her talents don't stop there。 She writes and photographs simply stunning books, like this one。One of the things I love about New York in Bloom is the incredible thoroughness with which Georgianna approached her subject。 After reading it, I really felt as though I'd enjoyed an amazing tour of the city。 On this tour, instead of riding around on a bus full of sweaty strangers listening to a guide make corny jokes on a microphone that keeps shorting out, I felt as though I'd just enjoyed strolling along in a beautiful city with a friend who has an uncanny knack for noticing tiny, beautiful details。 (See pages 70 & 71 for an example。)New York in Bloom has pictures of parks and gardens all over New York。 There are tours through floral studios that will simply take your breath away。 Georgianna takes us along with her to the flower markets, too。 You know - the ones in the movies where a beautiful woman walks out with an armful of flowers that are as beautiful as she is。 There's also a section of floral displays which took me to a part of New York that I've never seen personally or in the movies。 I learned about flower shows, gaped at huge urns full of blooms as you enter art museums, and enjoyed the flowers on display in the interiors of some of New York's most opulent hotels。 She even lets us tag along for the annual Easter Parade。 I can't overstate the pleasure this book brings。 Georgianna Lane has an eye for beauty, a joy for living, and a talent with her camera that I've not found in anyone else。 Her kind, gentle, beauty-loving spirit is present on every page。 Isn't it such a gift when authors share themselves so fully with their readers? 。。。more
