Loved every single page! Cute, romantic and creative。 I wish there were more chapters。

If you like the ayakashi vibe in Natsume’s Book of a friends then this has a similar vibe to it。 This is just one volume long which is nice, really cute love story。 They could of done better with consent in the last chapter, but overall the story and art are good。

Did this make me cry? YES。 Will I read it again? YESCat x Little Sparrow 🐈 🤍Each and every chapter was told so beautifully with the mix of traditional Japanese folklores as well as the development between the leads and the overall plot。 The over exhaustion and burnout that the MC felt is something most of us relate to these days and the way their relationship evolved is just too pure and heart breaking 。

3-3。5 stars。 Kept me entertained。--I liked the 2 main characters, especially Souta。 His plot with being overworked and always tired, it actually really got to me。 Was my favorite part of the manga。 --A lot more interesting than I thought it'd be。 Liked the storytelling theme。--I liked the art。 Love the facial expressions, the way the eyes are drawn。 The cat elements。 It's a good mix of your average slice-of-life realistic setting art and fantasy。--The romance was on the sweet side, but rushed。 W 3-3。5 stars。 Kept me entertained。--I liked the 2 main characters, especially Souta。 His plot with being overworked and always tired, it actually really got to me。 Was my favorite part of the manga。 --A lot more interesting than I thought it'd be。 Liked the storytelling theme。--I liked the art。 Love the facial expressions, the way the eyes are drawn。 The cat elements。 It's a good mix of your average slice-of-life realistic setting art and fantasy。--The romance was on the sweet side, but rushed。 Wish it'd been longer so we could've taken more time seeing the characters fall in love and so that we could've better explored the fantasy elements。 The way the bakeneko magic works and the bakeneko social structure。 Wanted to learn more。-- Wish there'd been a sense of danger, because it gets set up but then the romance takes over and I feel the fantasy plot is pushed aside。 Felt anticlimactic。 。。。more

Souta is so overworked he's to the point of considering suicide。 He snaps out of it, barely, and finds himself taking a detour to listen to a kodan storyteller。 As the storyteller transitions to a story about a bakeneko, a type of supernatural cat that can transform into a human, Souta sees the storyteller briefly transform into a bakeneko。 He figures it's just exhaustion, until the storyteller, Kihachi, confirms it and says that they're now both bound by bakeneko rules。 Souta must agree to beco Souta is so overworked he's to the point of considering suicide。 He snaps out of it, barely, and finds himself taking a detour to listen to a kodan storyteller。 As the storyteller transitions to a story about a bakeneko, a type of supernatural cat that can transform into a human, Souta sees the storyteller briefly transform into a bakeneko。 He figures it's just exhaustion, until the storyteller, Kihachi, confirms it and says that they're now both bound by bakeneko rules。 Souta must agree to become Kihachi's mate and not reveal the existence of bakeneko to other humans, or both he and Kihachi will be killed。I'll start by saying that, as a reader, I don't really trust or like the reborn version of Tokyopop。 I have at least one series I loved that is now likely forever in licensing limbo due to that publisher's implosion a while back, and I remember reading about what happened with their employees and OEL manga creators。 That said, I will grudgingly admit that so far they're two for two with me on their BL titles。 Deko-Boko Sugar Days was pretty good。 The Cat Proposed was very good, and may end up on my list of all-time favorite BL manga。 Ugh。Anyway, this could have gone badly in so many ways, and instead it was utterly sweet and charming。 It felt like the author cared about the characters as people and wanted them to be happy。The story dealt with multiple serious topics。 Souta had literally worked himself almost to death - he was emotionally numb, considering suicide, and stressed to the point that it was affecting him physically。 It wasn't until his health forced him to take some time off that he started to realize how warped his perception of things was。 Meanwhile, Kihachi was drawn to Souta and wanted to help him, but he was also painfully aware that a bakeneko's lifespan is much longer than a human's。Kihachi and Souta's relationship involved a lot less force than I initially expected。 Kihachi made it clear from the start that being mates just meant that they were bound together - he wouldn't do anything that Souta wasn't comfortable with。 And other than one cliched moment in which Kihachi had to save Souta with liquid delivered mouth-to-mouth, the author stuck to that。 Kihachi and Souta started off essentially as roommates, and it was nice seeing them spend time with each other。 It genuinely felt like Kihachi wanted what was best for Souta, no matter what that turned out to be。All of the bakeneko side characters were great。 Granny Kikyou had a mischievous sense of humor, and the Ryokan Cat's gleeful enjoyment of Kihachi and Souta's romance was amusing。 I enjoyed this so much that I read it a second time, and parts of it were even better on a reread。 If I'm not mistaken, Kihachi used kodan storytelling techniques during his initial explanation of bakeneko rules。 Also, as someone who loves reading, I liked the "power of stories" theme。All in all, this was extremely good and sweet。 It's not necessarily for everybody - some might not be able to get past the cat and human romantic pairing and occasional blend of human and cat features (cat ears, tail, eyes, and/or ability to purr, but otherwise human), and others might be disappointed because there are almost no sex scenes and nothing very explicit (kissing, hand holding, and one scene in which everything is hidden by clothing or blankets)。 For me, though, it fit my BL tastes well, and I'm sad that it looks like none of the author's other works have been published in English。 One last note: this is the only BL manga I've ever read, and maybe the only romance, in which (view spoiler)[one of the characters has erectile dysfunction。 It embarrasses the character but doesn't interfere with the romance and isn't treated like a joke。 (hide spoiler)]Extras:One full-color illustration on matte paper (very unusual, but pretty) and a short afterword by the author。(Original review posted on A Library Girl's Familiar Diversions。) 。。。more

I loved this story and really wish we had more of their story at the end, how did their relationship progress? What were they like when they really started trying。 It didn't seem this was going to be a series but I hope there is more。of their adventures to come。 。。。more

such a cute story!! and the artwork is amazing!i know this is a one shot but i really wanted it to be longer because it seemed a bit rushed。 also there is a lot of information on mythology and the bakeneko so i definitely found that interesting。

And the humor was so good!!!The romance between Souta and Kihachi is pretty much what I want into my life。 You can tell how much they love eachother。 I love how Kihachi gives space to Souta and tells him to be honest about his feelings。 At first I thought that Kihachi being a bakeneko would be handed in a weird way and it would not add anything to the story, BUT I was so wrong。 Him being bakeneko makes the story a lot deeper and adds a new level to the story! Even tho the ending was hopeful and happy (was it, tho?) it makes me sad just thinking about what will happen to them after years。。。 。。。more

This was a pretty cute love story between a magical creature and a man suffering depression / burn out。 It's extremely hectic at times, but I imagine dating a man cat would be pretty hectic TBH。 No real explicit material here, but a lot of cute dynamics around the desire to be wanted vs。 the "it's okay - you don't have to like me if you don't want to"。 Will they? Won't they? 2。5To be completely honest, I think this is a it's-not-you-it's-me-moment。 Because I'm just not a huge fan of one-shots。 One volume? Nah, it's just too short。 But to give 'The Cat Proposed' a low rating only because of its format doesn't feel very fair。 The average rating is a lot higher than mine and TCP probably deserves it, so fuck this review I guess。 2。5To be completely honest, I think this is a it's-not-you-it's-me-moment。 Because I'm just not a huge fan of one-shots。 One volume?
