If my granddaughter loves it, so do I。

This was a goofy book (somewhat sad at times if you are empathetic) and my niece thought it was funny; however, it did not keep her attention with the repetition。 She is 4 years old but I do not think she was in the mood for it。 I will try again and update my post。

The Wonky Donkey, first of the series of books including The Dinky Donkey, and The Grinny Granny, is a silly tale。 Follow through the tricky rhymes and downright funny story of the Wonky Donkey。 My oldest has a blast with this book and the others in the series。 They have her cracking up, and trying to see just how fast she can read through it。 Such a fun book for kids and parents to share!

Cute Story Which Kids Like to Hear Over and OverI downloaded the Kindle version of the now-famous Donkey book so that I could share it with my 3 and 6 year old granddaughters。 We all recite the refrain together which is hysterical and so much fun!

It’s become a favorite right away。 All of us were giggling even the teen boys that are usually hidden away in video game land。

Me: very fun and silly, but I do prefer "hunky" as the last rhyme。Alex: funny but hee-haws are loud and pictures are a little scaryOwen: HEEHAW!!!HEEHAW!!! My husband bought me this book as my nickname is Donkey。 Cute book for kids and adults。

While this a cute kids' book with really great illustrations, I only rate it lower because, even as a child, I never cared for the plot-lacking, "goofy song" picture books。 Since this book has been very popular, and because donkeys are one of my favorite animals, I had to read it。 Kids who enjoy songs and animals will certainly love it though。 While this a cute kids' book with really great illustrations, I only rate it lower because, even as a child, I never cared for the plot-lacking, "goofy song" picture books。 Since this book has been very popular, and because donkeys are one of my favorite animals, I had to read it。 Kids who enjoy songs and animals will certainly love it though。 。。。more

It’s a great book, but it just wasn’t as funny as when that grandma read it to her grand baby。。 I chose a YouTube video, and I should have just gotten the book and read it myself。 Lol。 I like to be enthusiastic and would have gotten my class way more into the book。

Such a fun, repetitive, GREAT little book for children!!

Read May 18, 2021Genre: FictionGrade Level: Pre-K-1stThis book is a very silly book。 The students will be laughing at all of the funny words used to describe the donkey。 I could see the classroom getting quite riled up with this one, but I think it would still be a fun read aloud。 I would encourage the students to guess what word the author was going to add next to describe the donkey and add to the crazy name。 The lesson I would teach from this is repeating patterns in writing。 Recognizing that Read May 18, 2021Genre: FictionGrade Level: Pre-K-1stThis book is a very silly book。 The students will be laughing at all of the funny words used to describe the donkey。 I could see the classroom getting quite riled up with this one, but I think it would still be a fun read aloud。 I would encourage the students to guess what word the author was going to add next to describe the donkey and add to the crazy name。 The lesson I would teach from this is repeating patterns in writing。 Recognizing that each page followed the same pattern, but added one thing is important when reading this。 。。。more

The Wonky Donkey is personally an instant classic for me。 It’s fun sing-song rhythm and pattern makes it easy for all to get engrossed in, and it’s hard not to love this donkey! Not a difficult read by any means, but very fun and has good re-readability。

Absolutely hilarious! This book is full of rhymes that children will enjoy。 Would be a good book to use in the classroom。 It is fun and exciting。

This book I read in a Year 1 classroom on a teaching placement for the first time。 The quirky nature of the story with the rhyming structure it engages children and makes them laugh which is always a nice way to enjoy reading if the book is entertaining and funny。 Moreover, the audio CD that accompanied the book after I had read, was played and brought a musical dimension that brought the book to light and for the children was so enjoyable。

Hilarious - love reading this with my grandchildren。 Makes me laugh every time!

Returning this one。 Just doesn't sit right。 The rhymes are cute and for a kid with disabilities, the "winky wonky" donkey who wears and eyepatch and is missing a leg might be somewhat empowering, but it really just seems to be bullying and othering to me。 Not something I want in my kid's library。 Returning this one。 Just doesn't sit right。 The rhymes are cute and for a kid with disabilities, the "winky wonky" donkey who wears and eyepatch and is missing a leg might be somewhat empowering, but it really just seems to be bullying and othering to me。 Not something I want in my kid's library。 。。。more

Very creepy for a picture book! The donkey is called 'wonky' because he has only three legs, which is a bit insensitive。 The little bird follows along behind him adding to the mixed up jumble of names, which would probably be the right pathway for a lesson on name calling if the donkey didn't laugh it off through the whole book。 The bird plucking the donkey's eye out was weird and a little bit disturbing considering this is supposed to be a children's book。 I thought this would be one of those t Very creepy for a picture book! A very funny story about a donkey。 But not just any donkey。。。。a "wonky donky"。 But if you want to know just how wonky he is 。。。。 well you'll just have to read the book yourself to find out。 Better still, read it out loud to your favorite toddler。。。。 A very funny story about a donkey。 But not just any donkey。。。。a "wonky donky"。 But if you want to know just how wonky he is 。。。。 well you'll just have to read the book yourself to find out。 Better still, read it out loud to your favorite toddler。。。。 。。。more

This book is hilarious, I read it to family members after seeing the viral video and have recently been able to get a copy to read to my baby nephew。 The tongue twisters are great and the story is fun and cute。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I have very mixed feelings on this one。 I can see how it's fun and silly to read it all out loud。 It could even have a memory game type of feel。。。 But the illustrations seem a little odd and dark for a children's board book (bird removing the eye of the donkey and leaving a big black hole for the rest of the story)。 Additionally, if the illustrations were different it would feel less like it was insulting to disabled people。 I have very mixed feelings on this one。 I can see how it's fun and silly to read it all out loud。 It could even have a memory game type of feel。。。 But the illustrations seem a little odd and dark for a children's board book (bird removing the eye of the donkey and leaving a big black hole for the rest of the story)。 Additionally, if the illustrations were different it would feel less like it was insulting to disabled people。 。。。more

This is a book I have been meaning to read for ages and I'm so glad I finally did! This book is so funny and i think children would love joining in with the book as the same ideas and phrases are repeated on every page with the addition of a new phrase each time。 This would be a great read-aloud book in a KS1 classroom。 100% recommend。 This is a book I have been meaning to read for ages and I'm so glad I finally did! Not sure what all the laughter is about。 Between mildly amusing rhyming words and ableism, this one didn't do it for me。 Not sure what all the laughter is about。 Between mildly amusing rhyming words and ableism, this one didn't do it for me。 。。。more

I loved this book! It is very funny and I got it for a friend of mine’s children when he got a job at the Donkey Sanctuary (it’s an NGO - supporting livelihood generation of communities)。
