Summary

Jane Yellowrock goes back to the city where it all began in the newest installment of this thrilling New York Times bestselling series。

Jane used to hunt vampires, but now she’s their queen。 She’s holed up in the mountains with the Yellowrock Clan, enjoying a little peace, when a surprise attack on her people proves that trouble is brewing。 Someone is using very old magic to launch a bid for power, and it’s all tied to the place where Jane was first drawn into the world of Leo Pellissier—the city of New Orleans。

Jane is compelled to return to NOLA because someone is trying to destabilize the paranormal world order。 And because she now sits near the top of the vampire world, the assault is her problem。 She will do what she must to protect what’s hers。 Her city。 Her people。 Her power。 Her crown。

AwesomeWow! Faith Hunter has done it again! All the info on DNA was a bit daunting。 I’ll have to reread this book before another one comes out! Which I hope is sooner rather than later!

I don't know how she does it, but Faith keeps her characters interesting and her storyline captures your interest every single book! I honestly have a book let down after I'm done, because I want more。 I don't want the story to end。 I want to know what happens next。 For me, one of the most touching things is how Jane has found herself a family。 True, it's a family by choice, not by birth, but that makes it all the more real。 She needed that so badly。 There are so many major changes throughout Ja I don't know how she does it, but Faith keeps her characters interesting and her storyline captures your interest every single book! I'm in need of a re-read cause it's been a while since I've read the last Jane Yellowrock book。 There has been some catch up, but I felt slightly lost at the beginning。 I enjoyed this book however and I missed Beast。 I'm in need of a re-read cause it's been a while since I've read the last Jane Yellowrock book。 There has been some catch up, but I felt slightly lost at the beginning。 I enjoyed this book however and I missed Beast。 。。。more

Beyond expectations As a long time fan if Faith Hunter, I had high expectations for the latest installment of her Jane Yellowrock series。 I was blown out of the water。 The twists and turns, the ups and downs, made it almost impossible to set the story aside and attend to reality。

Just gets better。。。。。。。Most series start to slow down after 10 or so books。 Not this one。 Not one dang bit。 Keep it coming please!

Sue

Complex and twisty。 Just when I think we might get some peace, Hunter drags us into another cluster$#@! in the land of the fangheads。

I have read every book in this series and have never been disappointed but I have to say this one came close but for reasons that I can't talk about other than her loss of the power to shift at will seemed to get a bit cumbersome for the reader。 The book while moving the story along in a superb fashion with the usual multitude of plots and surprises did seem to take a road never taken where it seemed everybody was suddenly less powerful。 This added just a small bit of frustration to my enjoyment I have read every book in this series and have never been disappointed but I have to say this one came close but for reasons that I can't talk about other than her loss of the power to shift at will seemed to get a bit cumbersome for the reader。 The book while moving the story along in a superb fashion with the usual multitude of plots and surprises did seem to take a road never taken where it seemed everybody was suddenly less powerful。 This added just a small bit of frustration to my enjoyment which is miles away from not loving the story but keeping up with all the characters was a small chore since I had to stop several times and remember who "Now who was this again" but this is still Jane Yellowrock and I still sense the end of the series coming and that makes me a bit sad but in all I wanted to give this 5 Stars but I felt that was more my love for the series than the actual enjoyment of this book。 In the end they brushed over it quickly but it sounded a lot like the ending of Godfather 1 (and I loved it) 。。。more

This book took longer for me to get into because I found the beginning somewhat depressing! Jane is still not herself even though the cancer is gone! Once the story moves to New Orleans and Wrassler's wedding, the plot moves quickly! There are traitors waiting to kill the Dark Queen! Good story! Another good installment of vampire hunting, although also a bit of an adjustment to a new queenly life that had a bit of whining that got a little old。 I enjoyed it, and while not the best of the series, it's a fun book that previous fans of the series will enjoy。 Read on Kobo reader。 Another good installment of vampire hunting, although also a bit of an adjustment to a new queenly life that had a bit of whining that got a little old。 I enjoyed it, and while not the best of the series, it's a fun book that previous fans of the series will enjoy。 Read on Kobo reader。 。。。more

Great seriesThe twists! The turns! The joy! The heartbreak! It took me over a year to read the last book after the death of Leo。 Then, when this book released, I gobbled them both up in a matter of days。 Totally worth it。 Can't wait for the next one! I am a HUGE Jane Yellowrock fan。 I've read the entire series and was stoked for Faith's next installment。 I savored it this time around as I normally blow through her books in a couple of days。 First, Jane's story is unique and amazing。 I have loved her evolution over the years and she continued that evolution in this latest book as MOC, Dark Queen。 The vampire/MOC/DQ customs and history of Jane's skinwalker tribe was fascinating, but the lists of vampire history was annoying。 Bulleted lists? I know why Faith chose to do it that way, but I wish there could have been a more interesting solution。 A very cool graphic maybe? Also, I was super bored with the internal questions Jane had over and over。 I accept that this is normal internal dialogue as she is solving the mysteries that surround her, but there were pages of this and it peeved me as a reader。 I got lost at times and felt uninterested。 It dragged the story to a halt for me。 I almost always give these books 5 stars, but I trudged through this book。 The last few chapters were of course the best - action packed, bloody, super intense。。。I even teared up。 This is Faith's superpower。 I will continue to be an avid Jane Yellowrock reader, as long as Faith continues to write her story。 I found myself wondering though。。。is Faith getting bored of this character? 。。。more

Good, solid second-to-last book in the Jane Yellowrock series。 Jane goes back to New Orleans to deal with threats to her people and to her position of Dark Queen/MOC。 Some old favourites appear and new characters-- both villains and hopefully new allies-- are introduced。 Much action ensues in the second half of the book, which is always exciting to read。 When Jane and company are scrapping with seemingly unbeatable foes, this book (and all the others) really rock。 I do love this series, and I th Good, solid second-to-last book in the Jane Yellowrock series。 Jane goes back to New Orleans to deal with threats to her people and to her position of Dark Queen/MOC。 Some old favourites appear and new characters-- both villains and hopefully new allies-- are introduced。 Much action ensues in the second half of the book, which is always exciting to read。 When Jane and company are scrapping with seemingly unbeatable foes, this book (and all the others) really rock。 I do love this series, and I think it has mostly been really well-written, but I must say I am really, really tired of supernatural characters just waltzing into the basement levels of Jane's headquarters and freeing the most dangerous prisoners in the cells。 Why, oh why, oh why doesn't Jane just kill these enemies? Then even when she does actually behead a major big bad, the big bad doesn't die。 (Really? They can live without an attached head? Come on! My willingness to suspend disbelief vanished at that point。) So, I liked the book (mostly)。 I cried at the loss of a character who's been around for a long time, even though I never really liked them that much, and that's good writing, but on the other hand, there were too many, "Oh come on!" events that just bothered me。 Worth reading for sure, as are any of Faith Hunter's stories, but I do hope the last book (the next one) will not include the same overused plot events as this one。 。。。more

There is no better series! Thanks for the incredible world building and the characters who inhabit it。 They now live in my imagination and have become friends, enemies and I am still not sures 🙄。 I am both dreading and excited about the next book。

Excellent readBringing us the next chapter in the Jane Yellow rock series, Faith Hunter has outdone herself。 A fast paced read that ties up many previously unanswered questions, while foreshadowing future installments。 Jane Yellowrock, as Dark Queen discovers new enemies from within and out of her loyal subjects。 Killing, should be last resort, but sometimes, you need to make a point。 The book is very bloody, not suitable for younger readers。 Absolutely wonderful read for any adults。
