I'm not sure what there is for me to say about The Lord of the Rings that hasn't already been said - if you haven't read it before in this day and age, I don't know that there's anything I could tell you that could convince you。 So, instead of a helpful, objective review, I'll just tell you my favourite thing about this tale: it's those wee hobbits, man。 The way that Tolkien writes their stories into this epic, dramatic world makes me cry every time I read it。 How these simple, peaceful folk acc I'm not sure what there is for me to say about The Lord of the Rings that hasn't already been said - if you haven't read it before in this day and age, I don't know that there's anything I could tell you that could convince you。 So, instead of a helpful, objective review, I'll just tell you my favourite thing about this tale: it's those wee hobbits, man。 The way that Tolkien writes their stories into this epic, dramatic world makes me cry every time I read it。 How these simple, peaceful folk accept hardship and danger and overwhelming darkness just so they can protect their friends and the equally simple and peaceful home they leave behind。 It's this simplicity that often carries the story for me - that even miles from home, from the fires of Mount Doom, the white towers of Gondor or at the right hand of the king of Rohan, each of those hobbits thinks of the others at the very moment when all hope seems lost。 Middle Earth is a sweeping landscape with a rich history and kaleidoscope of cultures, of which the Halflings are arguable the most sheltered, and yet wherever their quest takes them, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin soon find themselves an integral, beloved part of the community。 It's a clear message that Tolkien weaves here。 Even the smallest of us can make a difference。 That there is always good work we can do in the face of despair。 That, whatever that looks like to you, your friends can carry you where you need to go。I'll leave you with a favourite quote that sums up the great warrior (and gardener) of the Third Age, Samwise Gamgee: In that hour of trial it was the love of his master that helped most to hold him firm; but also deep down in him lived still unconquered his plain hobbitsense: he knew in the core of his heart that he was not large enough to bear such a burden。。。 the one small garden of a free gardener was all his need and due, not a garden swollen to a realm; his own hands to use, not the hands of others to command。 。。。more

I am reading hobbit, 75th-anniversary edition。 I am currently on page 80 and I really want to read more。 In my opinion, J。R。R Tolkien did a fantastic job in making the story startup at a good pace。 This makes me want to read the rest of the book。 The main character Bilbo Baginns has been brought out of his home to conquer a palace with a group of 13 other Dwarves。

As like the whole thing, this is the best。 Lord of the Rings is the greatest marvel of any language as far as I know, in this age。 I'm not gonna say why, but it's that good, it's, by design, the best。 As like the whole thing, this is the best。 Lord of the Rings is the greatest marvel of any language as far as I know, in this age。 I'm not gonna say why, but it's that good, it's, by design, the best。 。。。more

All 4 Books back to back。 It was a very intresting read。 However it wasn't untill the Return Of The King that I thought of it as the masterpieces that they are often compared with, altough I would always recommend them。 All 4 Books back to back。 It was a very intresting read。 However it wasn't untill the Return Of The King that I thought of it as the masterpieces that they are often compared with, altough I would always recommend them。 。。。more

Lo mejor de fantasía épica。 Cada frase es un poema y una carta de amor a la literatura。 Tolkien maneja el ritmo de la narrativa como Aragorn la espada larga。

The movies are excellent, but cannot match the magic of reading these marvelous books and getting lost in the amazing world of Middle Earth。

Michael Thorley

Breathtaking。 Mind boggling。 Stunning。

Great book set, all 4 are outstanding and can be read superficially as an adventure novel or be read in depth to find further meaning。

Changed everything for me about reading when I was afifteen year old boy。 Now reading the Hobbit to my 9 year old。 The classics keep on giving for a reason。

Besides the pervasive themes of fellowship, camaraderie, sense of duty and similar virtues, the Lord of the Rings is replete with delightful prose。 It would be an understatement to say that J。R。R。 Tolkien was a master of the written word。 Of equal cause of wonder is his ability to make us believe that Arda could have been real。Much merit is found in Terry Pratchett's words, "Tolkien appears in the fantasy universe in the same way that Mount Fuji appeared in old Japanese prints。 Sometimes small, Besides the pervasive themes of fellowship, camaraderie, sense of duty and similar virtues, the Lord of the Rings is replete with delightful prose。 It would be an understatement to say that J。R。R。 Tolkien was a master of the written word。 Of equal cause of wonder is his ability to make us believe that Arda could have been real。Much merit is found in Terry Pratchett's words, "Tolkien appears in the fantasy universe in the same way that Mount Fuji appeared in old Japanese prints。 Sometimes small, in the distance, and sometimes big and close-to, and sometimes not there at all, and that’s because the artist is standing on Mount Fuji。" 。。。more
