The stories were short, but each was paired with such good, creepy art that I was enthralled the entire time! Such a strong collection for fans of spooky stories 📚

If you like creepy graphic short stories, this is a collection you should for sure pick up! Carroll's writing and illustrations are just fantastic, filled with excellent atmosphere and beautiful colors。 It gets a little more graphic and gruesome at times than I personally prefer, but if you aren't squeamish like me, I think you'll have no problems。 I thought this was so well done and for sure want to pick up more by Carroll。 She has a real gift for story telling!Content Warnings:body horror, inj If you like creepy graphic short stories, this is a collection you should for sure pick up! Gorgeously illustrated and devilishly creepy, this graphic novel was a quick fun read。 A compilation of a few short stories to make your skin crawl。 The illustration style is gritty and dark and couldn’t put better with the writing style。 Definitely recommend!!

Hope

It has a great art style that matches the spooky feel, plus the short stories are very cool! And they aren’t the average stories you hear everyday, very creative!

This was *extremely* my horror(ish) bag — unsettling and eerie, yet fun, imaginative, timeless, and gorgeously executed (without going graphic)。 Like a campfire collection, it had the right tempo fitted with the right twists, profoundly supported by its exemplary artwork。 I adored it (though a few stories ended just as I welcomed a second act), and I would've lost my shit over it as a kid。 This would've been something I told everyone about, as, in retrospect, it was likely the furthermost bounda This was *extremely* my horror(ish) bag — unsettling and eerie, yet fun, imaginative, timeless, and gorgeously executed (without going graphic)。 Like a campfire collection, it had the right tempo fitted with the right twists, profoundly supported by its exemplary artwork。 I adored it (though a few stories ended just as I welcomed a second act), and I would've lost my shit over it as a kid。 This would've been something I told everyone about, as, in retrospect, it was likely the furthermost boundary of the spookiness I could've taken back then。 As an adult, it felt like indulging one's self to a sweet delicacy after a tremendous healthy streak。 What a great, monstrous treat! 。。。more

Captivating & creepy。 I loved it。 But I really couldn't understand the things that happened。 I have a new interest in horror, though, so I can't be sure it's normal for strange things in a horror book to be explained to a reader。。。 Oh well。。。 All the stories in this were good。 Captivating & creepy。 I loved it。 But I really couldn't understand the things that happened。 I have a new interest in horror, though, so I can't be sure it's normal for strange things in a horror book to be explained to a reader。。。 Oh well。。。 All the stories in this were good。 。。。more

Very creepy stories and artwork。 Great for Halloween!

I was expecting at least SOME eerie stories to come out of this, but none of the stories had that vibe。 I was honestly bored throughout the whole thing。

VERY unsettling。。。 the art is breathtaking, though

The art is great, but the stories are a little meh。

This book gives me chills throughout my body。 The art is so brilliant that I cannot take some of the most horrified scenes out of my head till now。 The ending never fails to surprise me。 Really! I think this is one of my five star graphic books。 I read it within one hour。 It is a fast read and trust me, you will not put down the book once you read it。 Maybe this might be the book that will help you out of reading slump。 You will never know unless you try it, right?

This is really well done! It is not scary in that it keeps you up all night but it's scary in the sense that you are very on edge and absorbed while reading it。I enjoyed the majority of the stories, and the illustrations really made you feel as if you were in place of the characters which contributed to making it so well done。 There were a few smaller ones that were placed awkwardly so they could cause confusion but they were still quite well done。Overall a good book for making you keep a light This is really well done! Absolutely gorgeous book, beautifully illustrated and with lovingly spooky stories in it。I have been a big fan of Emily Carroll since her comic "Margot's Room" was posted online, so I had been eagerly awaiting being able to read this。 I was over the moon when I realize my local library had it。A couple of the comics in this anthology are in her website, but others aren't。 Either way, it's lovely to see her work on paper。I intend to buy myself a copy of this book in the future。 Absolutely gorgeous book, beautifully illustrated and with lovingly spooky stories in it。I have been a big fan of Emily Carroll since her comic "Margot's Room" was posted online, so I had been eagerly awaiting being able to read this。 I was over the moon when I realize my local library had it。A couple of the comics in this anthology are in her website, but others aren't。 Either way, it's lovely to see her work on paper。I intend to buy myself a copy of this book in the future。 。。。more

i walked into this expecting a fun but dark retelling of fairytales。 walked out feeling gross and disappointed。 i didn't know that this was horror, just figured that it was dark retellings of stories, which i am usually fine with。 But this just crossed the line for me。 Too much horror and too much confusion, couldn't actually figure out any of the stories。 i walked into this expecting a fun but dark retelling of fairytales。 walked out feeling gross and disappointed。 i didn't know that this was horror, just figured that it was dark retellings of stories, which i am usually fine with。 But this just crossed the line for me。 Too much horror and too much confusion, couldn't actually figure out any of the stories。 。。。more
