Marys writing has to be one of my favorites。 The plot of the story is amazing and her writing just puts it together so well。 This book isn’t a hard classic to read compared to other。 If you enjoyed Dracula I highly recommend reading this book。

Siempre dije que nunca iba a leer este libro y la verdad no pensé que me iba a gustar tanto, es buen libro。 Te atrapa desde la primera página! No es nada aburrido como me lo imaginaba。

wow。。。def my new fav book。 I still don’t know which one is the villain in my mind, Frankenstein or the creature。 love how the weather mirrored the emotions the characters were feeling。

What I wouldn’t give for a screen accurate representation of the plot to Frankenstein。 I will even let them change the setting to wherever their heart desires。 I want to see despicable college freshman Victor Frankenstein make a human being in his dorm and immediately regret it。 On an unrelated note: This is a good book, it was one of the few required readings I fully enjoyed years ago in high school and enjoyed re-experiencing now。 I do not like the protagonist and wish he was less seen by most What I wouldn’t give for a screen accurate representation of the plot to Frankenstein。 I will even let them change the setting to wherever their heart desires。 I want to see despicable college freshman Victor Frankenstein make a human being in his dorm and immediately regret it。 On an unrelated note: This is a good book, it was one of the few required readings I fully enjoyed years ago in high school and enjoyed re-experiencing now。 I do not like the protagonist and wish he was less seen by most in this book as a tortured soul when in reality he is the reason behind his misery。 I could go on but then it’d feel personal。 Good book 。。。more

Reading an older book can be slow when I have to look up words, but it was good。 I never read this book and was surprised because I thought I knew the story。 It was good but I kept wanting to shake Frankenstein to get some sense into him。 The monster didn't seem so bad, I empathized。 Reading an older book can be slow when I have to look up words, but it was good。 I never read this book and was surprised because I thought I knew the story。 It was good but I kept wanting to shake Frankenstein to get some sense into him。 The monster didn't seem so bad, I empathized。 。。。more

I’m not sure why I’ve avoiding this for this long。 I guess the story never really intrigued me, and although I won’t say that it’s my favorite classic horror, I will say it was much more interesting and engaging than I thought it was going to be。 This really did not give me any ounce of horror however, it’s simply a very sad tale to me。 Extremely well done, just not creepy or scary。 But I guess what can you expect from a plot that is so well known and from such an old book? Classic but not for me。 Understand the themes and why this would have been scary at the time but doesn't evoke that same fear now。 Classic but not for me。 Understand the themes and why this would have been scary at the time but doesn't evoke that same fear now。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 This book wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be, but I ended up really enjoying it。 Although it is a very depressing and sad read, I think the book itself is extremely important。 It touches on themes of appearance, morality, and sacrificing your own self interests for the greater good。 Shelley write a compelling narrative that makes me feel for both Frankenstein and his monster。 Ultimately the book does not have a happy ending。。。 But it has a sober reminder of what happens 3。5 stars。 This book wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be, but I ended up really enjoying it。 Although it is a very depressing and sad read, I think the book itself is extremely important。 It touches on themes of appearance, morality, and sacrificing your own self interests for the greater good。 Shelley write a compelling narrative that makes me feel for both Frankenstein and his monster。 Ultimately the book does not have a happy ending。。。 But it has a sober reminder of what happens when men try to play God。 This book is definitely worth reading。 。。。more

A very interesting read but I was surprised by the intellect of the monster that did not match my preconceived notion of the novel。 I was disappointed to see Frankenstein unwilling to full recognize his own role in his destruction and to place his creation simply as a horrible wretch。 He had the chance to build up the monster but chose to run but in it I feel I have better learned to own my own mistakes。

It is impressive that Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein at 18 and I feel like it is important to take her age into consideration when reading her book。 As noted by many other reviews on Goodreads, Shelley’s most famous work is lyrical and poetic, embroidered with existentialism, but also deeply reflects her lack of experience。 The main issue is that all the of her characters lack credibility。 They share the same voice, the same exact vocabulary and endlessly whine in the same lyrical and overdrama It is impressive that Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein at 18 and I feel like it is important to take her age into consideration when reading her book。 As noted by many other reviews on Goodreads, Shelley’s most famous work is lyrical and poetic, embroidered with existentialism, but also deeply reflects her lack of experience。 The main issue is that all the of her characters lack credibility。 They share the same voice, the same exact vocabulary and endlessly whine in the same lyrical and overdramatic way。 The story and its themes are inspiring, even thrilling, but you shouldn’t expect any layers in the characters personality。 There are also too many strange characters decisions and reasoning, which makes the story not believable at all。 Try to avoid empathizing too much with Frankenstein, as almost everything that happens could have been avoided or solved but the characters choices are sometimes truly bizarre and inexplicable。 I feel like we are in the situation where the fantasy is better than the book, but still it was surprisingly entertaining to read。 The gothic and dark feeling never left me the whole time, and my mind was vividly imagining the scenes with ease。 Frankenstein is about loneliness。 It’s iconic, and I liked it even with its faults: just drop your brain first and enjoy the gothic ambiance。 。。。more

A beautiful story no matter the reader。 ~I have great love in me the likes of which you can hardly believe, and a great rage in me the likes of which you can scarcely understand。 If I cannot have the one I will indulge the other~

Some parts were really good but some parts were so boring!!!! Overall I do understand why it's a classic and I like the message and I think that we can apply the message of the novel to our daily lives。 "Don't judge a book by its cover" and so on。It's a two stars because in the end I really had to push through。 Some parts were really good but some parts were so boring!!!! Classic。 Really made my daddy issues jump out but I’m very grateful I had the opportunity to read this again as an adult。 My disdain for Victor runs deep。 Reading it through a feminist lens really changed my perception of the characters and opened my eyes to the greater theme of motherhood。

I think we've all heard people say, "Frankenstein is the mad scientist not the monster!" And now that I've finally read this I get to be annoyed by this thought for the rest of my life。I feel like this is worth reading just to measure it against what we all know about Frankenstein through pop culture。 Spoiler alert: Victor Frankenstein is the real monster。 He created life and then was like, "Eww no" and ran away。 The monster was very intelligent and sensitive and he was left entirely on his own I think we've all heard people say, "Frankenstein is the mad scientist not the monster!" And now that I've finally read this I get to be annoyed by this thought for the rest of my life。I feel like this is worth reading just to measure it against what we all know about Frankenstein through pop culture。 Spoiler alert: Victor Frankenstein is the real monster。 He created life and then was like, "Eww no" and ran away。 The monster was very intelligent and sensitive and he was left entirely on his own because Victor Frankenstein was unsettled by his appearance。 He is sad and lonely throughout the book。 It feels more like a tragedy than horror。Anyway, this is basically about how Victor is an idiot who makes bad decisions。 Then we watch the monster try to figure out how to live in a world that doesn't want him while Victor is like, "Whoa is me。" Many people suffer because he is the way he is so that's fun, right?I gave it three stars because the times when the monster is telling his story are by far the most interesting parts。 And that's maybe a third of it? The rest of it is pretty boring。 Mostly because Victor is extremely whiney。 Yeah, yeah, you're wretched。 We get it。 God, shut up。 (Why Robert thinks he's so great, I have no idea。) BUT Mary Shelley's descriptions are consistently impressive。Edit: I was super confused about how this was written by a teenager since there seemed to be so much life experience behind a lot of the passages and then I found out there's a 1932 edition that she wrote when she was 35, and this (the audiobook) appears to be that edition。 (Though there's no information about what edition this is anywhere, Elizabeth isn't Frankenstein's cousin in this one so I'm assuming it's the later edition。) So if you decide to read it be aware that there are multiple versions。 。。。more

"I shall die, and what I now feel be no longer felt。 Soon these burning miseries will be extinct。 I shall ascend my funeral pile triumphantly and exult in the agony of the torturing flames。 The light of that conflagration will fade away; my ashes will be swept into the sea by the winds。 My spirit will sleep in peace, or if it thinks, it will not surely think thus。 Farewell。"That was a ride。。。 I was not expecting myself to like this book but。。。 Mary Shelley popped off。 "I shall die, and what I now feel be no longer felt。 Soon these burning miseries will be extinct。 I shall ascend my funeral pile triumphantly and exult in the agony of the torturing flames。 The light of that conflagration will fade away; my ashes will be swept into the sea by the winds。 My spirit will sleep in peace, or if it thinks, it will not surely think thus。 Farewell。"That was a ride。。。 I was not expecting myself to like this book but。。。 Mary Shelley popped off。 。。。more
