Summary

The challenge of the Ghost Riders! Robbie Reyes wants to finally get rid of the flame-headed monster that lurks inside him。 So it's time to do the common-sense thing: perform an exorcism on his car。 The only problem is, Johnny Blaze, the original Ghost Rider and current king of Hell, has some plans of his own for Robbie and his friends the mighty Avengers! Now, it's Ghost Rider vs。 Ghost Rider in a wild race through the deepest depths of the underworld, while the Avengers must fight for their lives against their own Celestial headquarters -now possessed by a rather shocking, rather murderous hell-damned soul!

Jason Aaron's Avengers is pure comic book fun, and I love all these Ghost Riders, so a win-win for me。 I'm reading a lot of complaints about this Avengers runs being style over substance, but I have absolutely no problem with that, this is the most fun I had with a Marvel series recently, the art has been phenomenal。Jason was one of the guys that expanded the lore of the Riders some years ago, so he knows his stuff, and this was a nice new chapter for the Riders that also established Robbie Reye Jason Aaron's Avengers is pure comic book fun, and I love all these Ghost Riders, so a win-win for me。 I'm reading a lot of complaints about this Avengers runs being style over substance, but I have absolutely no problem with that, this is the most fun I had with a Marvel series recently, the art has been phenomenal。Jason was one of the guys that expanded the lore of the Riders some years ago, so he knows his stuff, and this was a nice new chapter for the Riders that also established Robbie Reyes as a real Avenger。 I'm loving this team and their adventures, Robbie, Blade and She-Hulk were awesome additions, if I had to complain, I'd say Captain Marvel remains the most annoying one dimensional character ever, get rid of her。 。。。more

Boring and all over the place。I don't have the energy or the will to write once again why the current Avengers team don't work or the plot I guess is not interesting at all with everything that's happening。 Boring and all over the place。I don't have the energy or the will to write once again why the current Avengers team don't work or the plot I guess is not interesting at all with everything that's happening。 。。。more

Seeing all the various riders is a reminder of how far story telling can actually go 。 I am very fond of this story because of the fluidity of characters how each arch reaches out to others。 Aaron is my favorite avengers writer probably other than Busiek。 Each volume continues to remind me why

Enjoyably stupid, though looking at other reviews the line between enjoyable and stupid seems to be a fair bit further into stupid for me than others。 Robbie Reyes' early appearances were great because the art was so gonzo - that certainly isn't the case here, and the plot once again demonstrates that nobody has any ideas for what to do with him other than "put Gabe in danger"。 Still, the story does a good job of reminding you how annoying all the other Ghost Riders are* so here's to more of the Enjoyably stupid, though looking at other reviews the line between enjoyable and stupid seems to be a fair bit further into stupid for me than others。 Robbie Reyes' early appearances were great because the art was so gonzo - that certainly isn't the case here, and the plot once again demonstrates that nobody has any ideas for what to do with him other than "put Gabe in danger"。 Still, the story does a good job of reminding you how annoying all the other Ghost Riders are* so here's to more of the Reyes lad。 Even so, dammit, I like this Avengers team and the fast and furious romps Aaron is using them for。*This is the first story using Cosmic Ghost Rider I've seen - I had kind of assumed he was a pisstake on the tendency for neo-grimdark superhero variants (see: The Batman Who Laughs) and nothing about his role here really contradicts that。 It brought back unhappy memories of the kind of unpleasant sensation you'd feel in the 90s when you bought a new DC issue and saw Lobo on the cover。 。。。more

Aaron's run on the Avengers has been pretty bad and here's yet another terrible collection。 The artwork isn't even that great。 I am not a big fan of the Ghost Riders and all the "hell" stuff that's crept into Marvel comics over the past few years (Damnation, Mephisto, etc。--yech!)。 Aaron's run on the Avengers has been pretty bad and here's yet another terrible collection。 The artwork isn't even that great。 I am not a big fan of the Ghost Riders and all the "hell" stuff that's crept into Marvel comics over the past few years (Damnation, Mephisto, etc。--yech!)。 。。。more

This trade makes one fact plain: Robbie Reyes is the worst Ghost Rider。 This would have been a perfect time to jettison this lame character who should never have been an Avenger。 Still, Aaron keeps him around even though he doesn't know what to do with him。 There's no reason for any of these characters to have assembled。 This trade makes one fact plain: Robbie Reyes is the worst Ghost Rider。 This would have been a perfect time to jettison this lame character who should never have been an Avenger。 Still, Aaron keeps him around even though he doesn't know what to do with him。 There's no reason for any of these characters to have assembled。 。。。more

Enjoyed that。 Ghost Rider has been really appealing to me for a bit now。 Hope they pick up the Johnny Baze King of Hell story in some form。 And Cosmic Ghost Rider is really fun。 But a bit overpowered。 He is the Marvel Lobo。 Caught up on Aaron's Avengers now。 What an accomplishment。。。 Enjoyed that。 Ghost Rider has been really appealing to me for a bit now。 Hope they pick up the Johnny Baze King of Hell story in some form。 And Cosmic Ghost Rider is really fun。 But a bit overpowered。 He is the Marvel Lobo。 Caught up on Aaron's Avengers now。 What an accomplishment。。。 。。。more

This volume was also shorter than it should've been, but I love Robbie and he deserved a volume that's (mostly) about him。 I'm also a sucker for characters with family guilt and this felt more focused than the others that jumped from person to person。 This volume was also shorter than it should've been, but I love Robbie and he deserved a volume that's (mostly) about him。 I'm also a sucker for characters with family guilt and this felt more focused than the others that jumped from person to person。 。。。more

I thought this was a great volume in this Avengers series。 I love how we get more into Ghost Rider and his challenges。 It was great to see Johnny Blaze again even though he now one of the main villain。 It is great to see how all the Avengers band together to help Robbie out and try to help him win the race of Ghost Riders in Hell。

Action packed and a lot of characters are involved。 A hellish race involving Ghost Riders, well that just makes sense in a Ghost Rider comic, it is almost standard fare for one。 The art is very good and the story decent- up until the last added chapter, the origin of Robbie Reyes as the new Ghost Rider。 THAT I could have done without! I'd have given it a 4 instead of a 3, except for that last chapter。 Action packed and a lot of characters are involved。 A hellish race involving Ghost Riders, well that just makes sense in a Ghost Rider comic, it is almost standard fare for one。 The art is very good and the story decent- up until the last added chapter, the origin of Robbie Reyes as the new Ghost Rider。 THAT I could have done without!

I just want to talk to Jason Aaron and ask him wtf he thinks he's doing just straight up stealing the Morrison Batman The Return of Brice Wayne story and the continuation of that into Snyder's Dark Knights Metal arcs。 Bc that's what this is。 And there's also Aaron's version of Snyder's Jarro on Boy-Thing。 Christ Almighty。Probably the best one yet, to me。 And that's not saying much at all。 Grade: C- I just want to talk to Jason Aaron and ask him wtf he thinks he's doing just straight up stealing the Morrison Batman The Return of Brice Wayne story and the continuation of that into Snyder's Dark Knights Metal arcs。 Bc that's what this is。 And there's also Aaron's version of Snyder's Jarro on Boy-Thing。 Christ Almighty。Probably the best one yet, to me。 And that's not saying much at all。 Grade: C- 。。。more

A lot of Aaron's run has centered around the Ghost Rider。 Obviously, as the newest character, he has the most ground to cover。 And here we are with another ghost rider book—well, two Ghost Riders: Robbie Reyes and "Cosmic Ghost Rider。" Cosmic Ghost Rider should be cosigned to jokebooks。 He's a goofy concept that (regardless of the story) is just Deadpool with infinite power and even fewer scruples and less motivation。 The Ghost Rider race stuff is all fine。 I'm just not really committed to this A lot of Aaron's run has centered around the Ghost Rider。 Obviously, as the newest character, he has the most ground to cover。 And here we are with another ghost rider book—well, two Ghost Riders: Robbie Reyes and "Cosmic Ghost Rider。" Cosmic Ghost Rider should be cosigned to jokebooks。 He's a goofy concept that (regardless of the story) is just Deadpool with infinite power and even fewer scruples and less motivation。 The Ghost Rider race stuff is all fine。 I'm just not really committed to this journey with Reyes or Johnny Blaze as the villain。 I liked the original Reyes series because it was grounded in smaller-scale clashes and Robbie's relationships with a few people。 This kind of story—a race to the death in Hell—feels a little more generic。 Sure, it's a Ghost Rider story。 But it's not really a Reyes story; it could be (and apparently has been) any Ghost Rider。 。。。more

Is that cover meant to recall the woman-yells-at-cat meme, or is it just an unfortunate coincidence? Far from the best installment of Aaron's Avengers run; even his willingness to bring in guest stars, usually a lot of fun, here results mainly in an inconsequential appearance from Hellstorm (whose shaven-headed current look I still can't bear) and a revisit of the many Ghost Riders from his previous run on that book。 Joining them, and taking over the action far too much, an annoying recent addit Is that cover meant to recall the woman-yells-at-cat meme, or is it just an unfortunate coincidence? Increasingly, it seems that Jason Aaron's Avengers is shaped by two things。 The first is pure spectacle, and the second is the desire to give meaningful spotlights to its characters。 That could produce a great book, but it continues to hover around mediocrity instead。This is the Ghost Rider special。 The spectacle is Ghost Riders racing through Hell 。。。 but that turns out to be remarkably uninteresting。 There's also not really enough setup on what's going on with Blaze ruling hell, which is a rea Increasingly, it seems that Jason Aaron's Avengers is shaped by two things。 The first is pure spectacle, and the second is the desire to give meaningful spotlights to its characters。 That could produce a great book, but it continues to hover around mediocrity instead。This is the Ghost Rider special。 The spectacle is Ghost Riders racing through Hell 。。。 but that turns out to be remarkably uninteresting。 There's also not really enough setup on what's going on with Blaze ruling hell, which is a real problem with spotlighting characters like this。 When it's all said and done, there's some nice character and plot growth for Robbie Reyes, but that's at the cost of the rest of the Avengers getting almost no spotlight time of their own。 。。。more

This was a bit of a side-story that just happened to span several issues of the ongoing Avengers comic。 This is bound to happen in any team comic - when the writer takes a moment to focus on one of the characters and really give them a spotlight moment。 This book focused on our new Ghost Rider and really trying to explore his side of things - in this case, it's his desire to be rid of the curse of the Rider。 And this results in a most unusual adventure with the Rider being dragged down to Hell t This was a bit of a side-story that just happened to span several issues of the ongoing Avengers comic。 This is bound to happen in any team comic - when the writer takes a moment to focus on one of the characters and really give them a spotlight moment。 This book focused on our new Ghost Rider and really trying to explore his side of things - in this case, it's his desire to be rid of the curse of the Rider。 And this results in a most unusual adventure with the Rider being dragged down to Hell to face Blaze, now King of Hell while the rest of the team are left to deal with some other supernatural force released by their efforts to exorcise the demon from Robbie Reyes。 。。。more

After Hickman's "headier" Avengers run--Aaron's run is a fresh breath of fun and dumb air。 I was never a huge fan of Bendis' run--other than it was what I cut my comic teeth on。 But instead, it was the real bombastic runs--one's like Mighty Avengers, the Ultimates, etc。 This has the very Grant Morrison-esque "Avengers of 1 Billion BC" and it's got a fast pace。 There's a cold war with Namor/Wakanda/Russia, Vampire Civil Wars, War of the Realms and Mephisto Manipulations。 So it's pretty fun。 This After Hickman's "headier" Avengers run--Aaron's run is a fresh breath of fun and dumb air。 I was never a huge fan of Bendis' run--other than it was what I cut my comic teeth on。 But instead, it was the real bombastic runs--one's like Mighty Avengers, the Ultimates, etc。 This has the very Grant Morrison-esque "Avengers of 1 Billion BC" and it's got a fast pace。 There's a cold war with Namor/Wakanda/Russia, Vampire Civil Wars, War of the Realms and Mephisto Manipulations。 So it's pretty fun。 This is a weaker arc with a "trip to hell"。 。。。more

3。5 Stars。I was very excited to read this Volume。 I've been a fan of Ghost Rider since I was a teen。 I'm loving the new GR series (even though I found out they cancelled it。。。 ugh) but。。。 I think Marvel isn't really sure how to handle Ghost Rider anymore, at least when he is with other "main" characters。 They did a good job with the story here, seeing all the Ghost Riders' together was nice (even Cosmic), but there's something wrong when adding Daimon Helstrom is what gives this book a punch in 3。5 Stars。I was very excited to read this Volume。 I've been a fan of Ghost Rider since I was a teen。 I'm loving the new GR series (even though I found out they cancelled it。。。 ugh) but。。。 I think Marvel isn't really sure how to handle Ghost Rider anymore, at least when he is with other "main" characters。 They did a good job with the story here, seeing all the Ghost Riders' together was nice (even Cosmic), but there's something wrong when adding Daimon Helstrom is what gives this book a punch in the "dark"。Two more things to mention:1) Robbie's car is now free of Eli's influence。。。 but if that's right, what makes him a Spirit of Vengeance?2) Tony, in scanning an Iron Man helmet from the first Avengers (BC time) transports him to that time。 How will he get back? Who ever thought I would be this interested in a storyline that centered on a Ghost Rider? I had read part of Robbie Reyes' solo series, and while I didn't dislike it, I never really fell in love with the character。 However, Jason Aaron has really made this character work for me, and has interested me in Ghost Riders in general more than I've been interested in them since the 1990s。 Who ever thought I would be this interested in a storyline that centered on a Ghost Rider?
