Summary

W tej odkrywczej książce Daniel Kahneman, psycholog, laureat Nagrody Nobla w dziedzinie ekonomii, rozważa te zagadnienia i daje istotny wgląd w mechanizmy ludzkiego myślenia。

Jest to książka przełomowa。 Kahneman objaśnia nam działanie umysłu i opisuje, jak o naszym myśleniu wspólnie decydują dwa systemy: System 1 – szybki, intuicyjny i emocjonalny oraz System 2 – wolniejszy, działający w sposób bardziej przemyślany i logiczny。 Kahneman odkrywa przed nami niezwykłe możliwości – ale też błędy i usterki – szybkiego myślenia, wskazując wszechogarniający wpływ intuicyjnych wrażeń na nasze myśli i zachowania。

Le Basia

One of the best lectures this year。

I love behavioral economics and the intersection of economics with psychology, and this book delivered。 Definitely recommended for those who enjoy hearing the best and brightest in the field use economic and statistical principles to explain why we do the things we do。 Kahneman's explanation of when our intuition is worthwhile and when it should be thrown out is one that I plan to utilize to analyze my own decision making (or, obnoxiously, the decision making of those around me)。 I love behavioral economics and the intersection of economics with psychology, and this book delivered。 Definitely recommended for those who enjoy hearing the best and brightest in the field use economic and statistical principles to explain why we do the things we do。 Kahneman's explanation of when our intuition is worthwhile and when it should be thrown out is one that I plan to utilize to analyze my own decision making (or, obnoxiously, the decision making of those around me)。 。。。more

I loved the information in this book。 I was a little put off by how repetitive it was。

it only took me two years, but I finally finished it。 i liked it, it took me so long because it kept reiterating every point, and there was quite a lot of information in it。 5 stars because I think it does exactly what it set out to do, I have a much better grasp of the systems we (humanity) have when making decision, and the follies of those systems。 Lots of good food for thought, which is what I want from a chunky behavioral psychology book。

Great concept and fascinating exploration into how we respond with thoughts and emotions to different situations。 The concept is rather over done with extra examples to pad it out。

Zach Brace

A fantastic insightful book that everyone should read。 There is so much fascinating information about the choices humans make and how they make them。

Kate

Loved it。 If you have any interest in psychology, economics, or decision making just read it。

I thought I’d skim through this book because I was already familiar with a number of experiments in the first chapter but I ended up reading it page by page。 I think it was a really well put together book。 With a lot of lessons。My only criticisms would be cautionary to the reader。 It wouldn’t be a good idea to take a lot of the conclusions as prescriptive but rather to pick the general idea behind the experiments。 The reason for this suggestion is that I really think because a lot of the experim I thought I’d skim through this book because I was already familiar with a number of experiments in the first chapter but I ended up reading it page by page。 I think it was a really well put together book。 With a lot of lessons。My only criticisms would be cautionary to the reader。 It wouldn’t be a good idea to take a lot of the conclusions as prescriptive but rather to pick the general idea behind the experiments。 The reason for this suggestion is that I really think because a lot of the experiments were done on Ivy League college campuses, the research subjects were a whole lot more homogeneous than representative of the West or the world’s population as a whole。 We also have to consider the fact that some of the experiments would have gotten very different results if carried out in cultures such as found in Japan or China where the society is emphasized over the self as is the case in the West。So enjoy the read but take the results with a general caution。 The point I think is to distinguish the thought processes of the suggested system 1 and 2。 。。。more

Hits different in a pandemic world。

These books are literally so much better when the person who actually does the research teaches it (no offense Gladwell)。 Aka this novel is refreshingly ~ rigorous~。 Kahneman obliterates the rational agent model。 Definitely changes the way I think about human behavior for the (much much) worse lol。 Anyways best practical advice I got from this is anchoring high for salary negotiations。 Super helpful。 Other than that this book is pretty much terrifying。

Issaka Mounkaïla

This is probably the best book about cognitive psychology。

Charlien Tania

An easy-to-understand nobel prize winners’ work。

Marketa

You won’t trust your brain after reading this book。

Exceptional book。 It has tons of information about mind and human behavior。 I think it is one of these books that is a must read for everyone。

An unrelentingly tedious book that can be summed up as follows。 We are irrationally prone to jump to conclusions based on rule-of-thumb shortcuts to actual reasoning, and in reliance on bad evidence, even though we have the capacity to think our way to better conclusions。 But we're lazy, so we don't。 We don't understand statistics, and if we did, we'd be more cautious in our judgments, and less prone to think highly of our own skill at judging probabilities and outcomes。 taboo talks An unrelentingly tedious book that can be summed up as follows。 We are irrationally prone to jump to conclusions based on rule-of-thumb shortcuts to actual reasoning, and in reliance on bad evidence, even though we have the capacity to think our way to better conclusions。 But we're lazy, so we don't。 We don't understand statistics, and if we did, we'd be more cautious in our judgments, and less prone to think highly of our own skill at judging probabilities and outcomes。 taboo talks 。。。more

Classic behavioral economics book, really wish I had read this earlier in my life。 Just filled with great information。 Honestly, this book should have been broken up into two or even three book。 Also, another problem, but not a real problem is that a few of the theory's talked about largely in the book have since been debunked - looking at you "priming" otherwise, this was a great book, and will one I will be thinking about for a long time。 Classic behavioral economics book, really wish I had read this earlier in my life。 Just filled with great information。 Honestly, this book should have been broken up into two or even three book。 Also, another problem, but not a real problem is that a few of the theory's talked about largely in the book have since been debunked - looking at you "priming" otherwise, this was a great book, and will one I will be thinking about for a long time。 。。。more

Good introduction to biases

Daniel Kahneman’s thesis is very interesting。 This book is full of many surprising facts about the way our thinking works。 Throughout the reading many different examples are exposed and the reader finds himself identified with them。Great ideas were discussed but the author sometimes was repetitive and this turned the reading to a tedius and exausting one。

Awesome introductory book on human decision making and biases in everyday life
