Good twistsI loved the balance of intrigue and plot twists that weren’t always predictable。 Also I enjoyed the way the author brought forward insights into the various nationalities of each character in a humorous but inclusive way。 Reading the book was relaxing and entertaining。

I found this to be terribly amateurish in prose and story。 Not to mention the constant repetition of names became quickly annoying。 I think he thought himself to be clever in how he named his characters and so he felt he had to keep repeating their names in full？ Or the fact that he’s still using portions of French as if we understood it？ Also the audio book is incredibly cringeworthy and a bit racist。 The narrator attempts to do imitations of accents which were shocking and terrible。

I enjoyed this novel - a tale of an Englishman who leaves the London financial world behind to move to France。 I found the combination of mystery and romance intriguing。 The French characters were fun， especially the housekeeper （Madame Passepartout）。 The novel was at its past in capturing the disorientation of an English speaker moving to France。 I look forward to seeing the movie adaptation as well。
