Summary
Based on an original new story by J。K。 Rowling， Jack Thorne and John Tiffany， a new play by Jack Thorne， Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage。 The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30， 2016。
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic， a husband and father of three school-age children。
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs， his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted。 As past and present fuse ominously， both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes， darkness comes from unexpected places。

5。5/10 - A lot of time jumps which made it a little tiring to read and disjointed， could also be because it was in script form。 Somewhat nice continuation of characters but no significant character development shown from the first books？ ie。 Ron， Draco， Harry。Some moments read like it was a storyline for 10 year olds - trolley witch？ Really？

If you're having trouble getting started reading this， the audiobook maybe be helpful。 I literally set the book down for years after reading the first act （and therefore felt the need to revisit it before moving on）。 But it gets better after that point， even though there's still a few hard bits to read/listen to， in particular a repeated line that could really have used some mixing up。 There's also multiple places it could have ended and still felt like a complete story。 Which makes it extra wei If you're having trouble getting started reading this， the audiobook maybe be helpful。 I literally set the book down for years after reading the first act （and therefore felt the need to revisit it before moving on）。 But it gets better after that point， even though there's still a few hard bits to read/listen to， in particular a repeated line that could really have used some mixing up。 There's also multiple places it could have ended and still felt like a complete story。 Which makes it extra weird that （view spoiler）[it ends on a down act。 （hide spoiler）] This is probably not a popular opinion， but Harry x Ginny always felt forced to me， and nothing about how they interact in this play makes it feel less forced to me。 It does do a good job reinforcing why Ron and Hermione are together however。 。。。more
