Summary

DETECTIVE SUPERINTENDENT ROY GRACE INVESTIGATES

"Peter James has penetrated the inner workings of police procedures, and the inner thoughts and attitudes of real detectives, as no English crime writer before him" —The Times

NO BODY。 NO TRACE。
NO CRIME?

Niall and Eden Paternoster start their Sunday the same way they always do—with a long drive, a visit to a country house and a quick stop at the local supermarket on the way home。

But this Sunday ends differently—because while Niall waits and waits in the car park for Eden to pick up supplies, Eden never returns。 She’s not waiting for him at home, and none of their family or friends have heard from her。

Gone without a trace, Niall is arrested on suspicion of her murder。 When DS Roy Grace is called in to investigate, it doesn’t take long to realize that nothing is quite as it seems—and this might be his most mysterious case yet 。 。 。

Sunday Times number one bestseller Peter James returns with the latest installment in his award-winning Roy Grace novels—now a major TV series。

Love this series but the story was thin and unimportant to Grace it seems。 One unexpected surprise

Book 17 and a lot is changing in Grace's world。 I read some reviews before starting and I knew there was a tragedy going in。 It's always hard when you lose a character and this one is particularly hard on the emotions。 With the crime Eden Paternoster is missing presumed murdered but there's no body so Grace and his team are not only trying to find the clues to commit her husband for a crime but to find Eden herself。 Nothing is as it seems and there are twists and turns galore。 It's a bit overlon Book 17 and a lot is changing in Grace's world。 I read some reviews before starting and I knew there was a tragedy going in。 It's always hard when you lose a character and this one is particularly hard on the emotions。 With the crime Eden Paternoster is missing presumed murdered but there's no body so Grace and his team are not only trying to find the clues to commit her husband for a crime but to find Eden herself。 Nothing is as it seems and there are twists and turns galore。 It's a bit overlong。 Quite often the meetings to go over where they are in the investigation is a repeat of what's already known and could have been cut down a bit。 It did make it drag in places。 I did like the procedural side of this。 Who knew so much work and team members were needed to track someone down??? It was fascinating to read about the ins and outs of various roles。 Issues continue with his boss Cassian Pewe and I can't wait to read what happens next with that particular plot point! Overall a good book but a long book。 I enjoyed it and looking forward to what comes next 。。。more

When Niall's wife, Eden, vanishes into what can only be described as 'thin air' he turns to Sussex Police for some help。 However, when damning evidence flags up and Niall becomes the main suspect, everyone is left wondering whether this odd and secretive man could've possibly murdered his wife for her riches。 But when Roy Grace and his team begin to uncover more truths behind Niall and Eden's marriage, it soon becomes clear that all is not what it seems。。。I can't quite believe this is the 17th i When Niall's wife, Eden, vanishes into what can only be described as 'thin air' he turns to Sussex Police for some help。 However, when damning evidence flags up and Niall becomes the main suspect, everyone is left wondering whether this odd and secretive man could've possibly murdered his wife for her riches。 But when Roy Grace and his team begin to uncover more truths behind Niall and Eden's marriage, it soon becomes clear that all is not what it seems。。。I can't quite believe this is the 17th instalment in the Roy Grace series! It's so amazing to see the characters grow and adapt。 Last year, I read the entire series back to back and was a little sceptical about carrying on after Find Them Dead left me with a weird taste in my mouth。 However, I am so glad I decided to pick this up and stick with the series as Left You Dead definitely didn't disappoint, and was a refreshing kick back into the franchise。 Like many of Peter James' fans, one of my favourite parts of the Roy Grace series is the balance between Roy's life and the crime scene in Sussex。 It's always exciting to read towns I've lived in, or regularly visit, be part of some shocking mysteries。 And just like previous books, Left You Dead delivered a wonderful mix between Roy's own personal mysteries and heartache as well as highlighting what the world of crime can really be like。There were some points in Left You Dead where I felt like the storyline was hitting slight snags。 I struggled to understand how Roy could seemingly 'bounce back' into police officer mode after going through something traumatic, but I can definitely see how a lot of the subplots in this book will affect the storyline of Roy, Cleo and all of their friends in future books。 Overall, if you're a fan of the Roy Grace franchise - this will be another showstopper for you。 It's hard-hitting, mysterious and at times, a little concerning。 Definitely a winner in the crime and thriller world! I can't wait to see what the future holds for the characters in the next instalment。 。。。more

Great story。 Just what I needed over last few days whilst feeling down。The personal story between Cleo and Roy was handled sensitively。 Highly recommended。 I'm ready for the next one now! He's back! Honestly after the last few Roy Grace books were huge disappointments for me, I told myself that if this one was too, I'd give up on the series that I used to adore。 And thankfully, this book was great! As usual, I absolutely flew through the book, and read it in two sittings。 I thought the mystery we were following was finally one like the older ones, where you can't tell straight off the bat what's happening。 You have your theories, sure, but nothing is "confirmable" right away。 Plu He's back! Yet another sure fire winner starring detectives Grace and Branson。 I really love these books and have read every one in the series。 The characters are believable, the stories are accurate in detail and the books are extremely well written。 If you’ve not had the pleasure of reading this yet, I can highly recommend it so grab a copy now。 You won’t be able to put it down,

I was a little worried about starting this book as I didn't enjoy the previous one at all。 However, it got me hooked straight away and I found it really good if a little predictable。 It would have been better if I hadn't accidentally seen a question about the book on here from someone who failed to mark it as a spoiler alert before I had even started it。 I was a little worried about starting this book as I didn't enjoy the previous one at all。 However, it got me hooked straight away and I found it really good if a little predictable。 It would have been better if I hadn't accidentally seen a question about the book on here from someone who failed to mark it as a spoiler alert before I had even started it。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Another fantastic story in the Roy Grace series。 I don't think I've ever read a book before and dearly wanted one of the characters to die so much。 Every chapter I was hoping for confirmation that the evil child, Bruno, was actually dead, and buried in the ground, and yet the agony dragged on, and even now I'm not sure if he is really gone。 Of course, there is the horrible possibility/inevitability of his evilness being spread to more people as his organs are donated。 A host of people who will r Another fantastic story in the Roy Grace series。 I don't think I've ever read a book before and dearly wanted one of the characters to die so much。 Every chapter I was hoping for confirmation that the evil child, Bruno, was actually dead, and buried in the ground, and yet the agony dragged on, and even now I'm not sure if he is really gone。 Of course, there is the horrible possibility/inevitability of his evilness being spread to more people as his organs are donated。 A host of people who will receive his organs and will now become psychopaths as well。 。。。more

#LeftYouDead #NetGalley Another superb book in the Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series。 Fast paced, with plenty of action and twists and turns, I read this in virtually one sitting。 alongside the criminal investigation there is also plenty of drama going on in the personal life of Roy Grace which added to the tension in this book。 A few unresolved clues left for the reader to figure out on their own - for example who placed the the original tracker on the Paternosters car and why。 However #LeftYouDead #NetGalley Another superb book in the Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series。 Fast paced, with plenty of action and twists and turns, I read this in virtually one sitting。 alongside the criminal investigation there is also plenty of drama going on in the personal life of Roy Grace which added to the tension in this book。 A few unresolved clues left for the reader to figure out on their own - for example who placed the the original tracker on the Paternosters car and why。 However this did not detract from my enjoyment of the book。 A superb 5 stars and can't wait for the next in this series! 。。。more

As much as I love the Grace books, this is going to be the last one I read。 I still really enjoy the stories and this one was great, but there is way too much useless filler in these books now。 Entire paragraphs of nothing, just making the book longer and much less enjoyable。 It's sad, since this book has some well written and very grim parts to it。 So long Roy, I wish you and your friends well。 As much as I love the Grace books, this is going to be the last one I read。 I still really enjoy the stories and this one was great, but there is way too much useless filler in these books now。 Entire paragraphs of nothing, just making the book longer and much less enjoyable。 It's sad, since this book has some well written and very grim parts to it。 So long Roy, I wish you and your friends well。 。。。more

Left You Dead is my second read in the DS Roy Grace series。 I came into this series very late with Find You Dead (book 16)。 As with my previous read Left You Dead reads well as a stand-alone。 A new case is opened and wrapped up by the end of the book。 Snippets of backstory keep you updated , or reminded, of previous events。Eden Paternoster goes missing without a trace。 When her husband reports her disappearance to the police, Roy Grace is called in to head the investigation。 What follows is an, Left You Dead is my second read in the DS Roy Grace series。 I came into this series very late with Find You Dead (book 16)。 As with my previous read Left You Dead reads well as a stand-alone。 A new case is opened and wrapped up by the end of the book。 Snippets of backstory keep you updated , or reminded, of previous events。Eden Paternoster goes missing without a trace。 When her husband reports her disappearance to the police, Roy Grace is called in to head the investigation。 What follows is an, as expected, police procedural as the team question Niall Paternoster and gather information from various sources。 However, Peter James has introduced dramatic irony and the reader is savvy to information that the police don't have。 This gives quite an interesting twist to the story and makes the mystery even more compelling。As the main plot is the police procedural Grace's colleagues feature heavily and I enjoyed the natural banter and friendly ribbing between the workmates and getting to know more of their personal life。There is a second plot that explores the deep and emotional theme of organ donation and how vital it is。Left You Dead is another edge of your seat crime mystery with James' signature short, sharp chapters it's an easy, quick read。 Many of the chapters ending on a cliff-hanger make the book hard to put down。If you are after a compelling police procedural with a likeable main character you can't go past Left You Dead。 *I received a copy from the publisher 。。。more

I was recommended the Roy Grace series to read and I've now read every single book。 This is the 17th installment and it was just as exciting as every other book in the series。 This book follows the investigation into a missing woman, Eden Paternoster, where her husband is suspected of her murder。 This story is told alongside the continuing tale of DSI Roy Grace and his family and colleagues。 There are many twists and turns throughout this book, making it another gripping read from Peter James。 F I was recommended the Roy Grace series to read and I've now read every single book。 This is the 17th installment and it was just as exciting as every other book in the series。 This book follows the investigation into a missing woman, Eden Paternoster, where her husband is suspected of her murder。 This story is told alongside the continuing tale of DSI Roy Grace and his family and colleagues。 There are many twists and turns throughout this book, making it another gripping read from Peter James。 From the minute I started it, I was so involved, I just didn't want to put it down。 There were parts that made me laugh and parts that made me cry - it is everything I would want in a book。 。。。more

At it again!!At it again。 Another splendid read。 It’s a shame that I have to wait another year until the next one。Enjoyable read from start to finish。 I thought you dealt with the transplant issue very sympathetically and caused a few tugs at the heart strings whilst reading。Well done again。

Definitely couldn’t put this one down - on some pages I was even trying to read faster where it got very exciting! A very well thought through plot, with twists and unexpected turns。 The familiar police team are back like old friends, with their background story playing out along side the current case plot。 Can’t wait for the next in the series now!
