The next volume of Monstress brings the action to a slow, even while the world around Maika and friends continues to rage with war。From the Talk-Stories mini-series that starts us off to the usual five issues of the main book, this volume is all about characters working out where they stand with one another, while new revelations rock old relationships to their core。It's a little hard to keep everything straight at times, mostly because the world is so dense and I usually read the series in sing The next volume of Monstress brings the action to a slow, even while the world around Maika and friends continues to rage with war。From the Talk-Stories mini-series that starts us off to the usual five issues of the main book, this volume is all about characters working out where they stand with one another, while new revelations rock old relationships to their core。It's a little hard to keep everything straight at times, mostly because the world is so dense and I usually read the series in single issue form monthly, but there's no doubt that Liu's world has been well-crafted and populated with complex and intricate characters。 You need a spider-diagram to keep all the betrayals and familial relationships in order at times。I did think that Talk-Stories might have been a way to give Sana Takeda a bit more lead time on the main book, but she draws those two issues as well as the main series, so I've got no idea - but more Takeda art is always a good thing, so I'm not complaining。A bit slower, a bit more talky, but with the promise of explosive confrontations on the horizon。 。。。more

Still an excellent fantasy comic series but it's time to end it。I haven't read Volume 5 but it's pretty apparent what took place。 At first the plot is quite confusing but, as the story progresses, it becomes clearer。 The story involves all the major characters plus a few returning from previous volumes。 It moves along at quite a pace and there's plenty of action as well a lot of dialogue。 There's evidently more to come and I feel that it should wrap up soon。 The artwork is still stunning and I r Still an excellent fantasy comic series but it's time to end it。I haven't read Volume 5 but it's pretty apparent what took place。 At first the plot is quite confusing but, as the story progresses, it becomes clearer。 The story involves all the major characters plus a few returning from previous volumes。 It moves along at quite a pace and there's plenty of action as well a lot of dialogue。 There's evidently more to come and I feel that it should wrap up soon。 The artwork is still stunning and I recommend the series but it's worth reading previous volumes first。 I received a copy in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Damn cliffhanger! I so wasn't expecting that but I guess I should have。 This story has developed into a fascinating tale of war and betrayal as well as the merger between old gods and new。 I couldn't put it down。 I read this series in a single day! Maybe the best volume so far。 I still have a hard time following who's betraying who because the characters look so similar and the art is kind of messy on purpose。 Too many characters I'm supposed to remember。 Too many titles and courts and pacts and alliances。 This focused in a little more though, and Maika wasn't quite so painfully emo。 Maybe the best volume so far。 I still have a hard time following who's betraying who because the characters look so similar and the art is kind of messy on purpose。 Too many characters I'm supposed to remember。 Too many titles and courts and pacts and alliances。 This focused in a little more though, and Maika wasn't quite so painfully emo。 。。。more

4。5 stars, the best epic fantasy I've read since LOTR。 HBO should be making a series out of this instead of all those GOT spinoffs。 Maybe Amazon or Apple will see its potential。 For me this story has gotten better and better with each volume, Ms。 Liu continues to surprise me with each passing volume and I just love Sana's artwork it surely enhances the story and is beautiful enough to stand by itself if the storytelling wasn't as strong as it is。 4。5 stars, the best epic fantasy I've read since LOTR。 HBO should be making a series out of this instead of all those GOT spinoffs。 Maybe Amazon or Apple will see its potential。 For me this story has gotten better and better with each volume, Ms。 Liu continues to surprise me with each passing volume and I just love Sana's artwork it surely enhances the story and is beautiful enough to stand by itself if the storytelling wasn't as strong as it is。 。。。more

monstress quickly becoming my favorite graphic novel。 besides the art, which i adore because it reminds me of art nouveau, i really love the story。 the characters are great, the world-building is amazing and the story is so complex and full of twists。 with much action, magic, and heartbreaking revelations。

Can't wait to read the rest of this volume i'm gonna cry。***Monstress: Talk-Stories #1 - Read: 20th January 2021 If you love yourself, that will be enough。Podría leer 800 issues del pasado de Kippa y no solo no me aburriría, sino que además lloraría con cada viñeta。 Also, Liu y Takeda, as always, no decepcionan。***Monstress: Talk-Stories #2 - Read: 20th January 2021 I wish I could say the last carefree weeks of my early life were spent with my mother。。。 but it was that pirate queen who allo Can't wait to read the rest of this volume i'm gonna cry。***Monstress: Talk-Stories #1 - Read: 20th January 2021 If you love yourself, that will be enough。Podría leer 800 issues del pasado de Kippa y no solo no me aburriría, sino que además lloraría con cada viñeta。 Also, Liu y Takeda, as always, no decepcionan。***Monstress: Talk-Stories #2 - Read: 20th January 2021 I wish I could say the last carefree weeks of my early life were spent with my mother。。。 but it was that pirate queen who allowed me to be a child。。。 briefly。。3。5。Me rompe el corazón leer del pasado de Maika, she was an innocent child before everything。 Me habría gustado igual que hubiera un poco más de información sobre Maika -como pasa en Talk-Stories #1 y Kippa-, pero como es la protagonista era obvio que iba a ser algo más bien como el resultado final。 Igual es hermoso。 。。。more
