Summary

In a superpowered society, there is nothing ordinary about evil anymore。 Heroes, trained and licensed to protect and defend the public against supervillains, stand above all the rest。 Not everyone can be a hero, however, and there are those who would use their powers to serve the people without legal sanction。 But do they fight for justice in the shadows, or for reasons known only to themselves? Whatever they fight for, they are called。。。vigilantes。

Knuckleduster has saved his daughter Tamao, but for now, he’s not letting anyone else know that he’s back。 That’s just as well, since Koichi and Pop Step have their hands full getting ready for an all-out entertainment extravaganza—Captain Celebrity’s final appearance in Japan at the Sky Egg stadium! Unfortunately, the high-speed villain from Osaka is also preparing to initiate a major catastrophe at the event。 When the chips are down, Captain Celebrity and Koichi may not be the heroes we want, but are they the heroes we need?

Things are finally moving seriously plot-wise, and once again I'm very happy to see more of Aizawa (and love the foreshadowing)。 Things are finally moving seriously plot-wise, and once again I'm very happy to see more of Aizawa (and love the foreshadowing)。 。。。more

Seeing more heros from the parent story is always great!!! The Way this volume builds up to that last page was really good, but now I have to wait to get volume 8 to see how it continues!!

This series has some serious pacing issues。It does have some redeeming character moments。 It also holds some information on MHA characters past which at the moment is one of the main reasons I am sticking to reading this。

This is definitely a volume dedicated to C。C。, and that is absolutely cool!!I've had very mixed feelings with Captain Celebrity through the previous volumes, not as if I cared too much about him, but he definitely won my respect in this one。Now, is it me, or My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is a prequel where the origin of Nomus is officially being explained。。。? More than a little disappointing。 I'm here for stories about the Crawler and his growth。 A bit with the other unlicensed "heroes" like Pop*Step and others was kind of cool。 We are dealing with people outside the system that is the world of My Hero Academia。 Instead we literately leave Crawler and Pop*Step mid fight and the next page it is hours / days / months later it is not clear with no mention of the fight。 We end up following a soulless airhead football player like licensed hero from Americ More than a little disappointing。 I'm here for stories about the Crawler and his growth。 A bit with the other unlicensed "heroes" like Pop*Step and others was kind of cool。 We are dealing with people outside the system that is the world of My Hero Academia。 Instead we literately leave Crawler and Pop*Step mid fight and the next page it is hours / days / months later it is not clear with no mention of the fight。 We end up following a soulless airhead football player like licensed hero from America called Captain Celebrity。 A hero not worth the name who causes more harm than good。 He is so bad he flees America for Japan to clean up his image。 Note, not be a better person or hero, just to to improve him image。 This story is just the redemption story of a licensed hero and we watch him for some reason becomes a "better" person。 How bad a person is CC? He is the captain of the football team who is assigned to your team for a group project who does none of the work but gets all the credit and the grades。 He shares intimate and embarrassing photos of his wife and child in front of millions on live TV。 It is not what I'm hear to read。 It is a disappointing turn in the comic。 。。。more

Rating: 4。5/5 starsI'm really enjoying this series。 It's a more light-hearted and comedic story compared to the main series, but that doesn't stop me being invested in the story and its characters。 Just like the plot of the main series, it's getting darker with every volume。Old faces make a comeback in this one, in particular, Knuckleduster! I didn't think I missed him that much, but it turns out I did! He's got a mysterious backstory I can't wait to learn more about, and to see how he connects Rating: 4。5/5 starsI'm really enjoying this series。 It's a more light-hearted and comedic story compared to the main series, but that doesn't stop me being invested in the story and its characters。 Just like the plot of the main series, it's getting darker with every volume。Old faces make a comeback in this one, in particular, Knuckleduster! I didn't think I missed him that much, but it turns out I did! He's got a mysterious backstory I can't wait to learn more about, and to see how he connects with the newest villain that Koichi et al are up against。The story starts off with an innocent going away event for Captain Celebrity, who's soon to return to his home country, America, but of course, it doesn't go to plan。 They host it in a very tall skyscraper called the Sky Egg, which becomes a target for the latest mystery villain and his new genetically modified creatures that he lets loose upon the building。 This kickstarts a rescue and defence mission, involving plenty of pro-heroes we recognise from the main series, including Midnight, Eraser Head, Ingenium, and Best Jeanist。 Best Jeanist definitely takes the spotlight here, and you see why he's one of the highest rated heroes。 His Quirk is a lot cooler than it sounds! The vigilantes and pro-heroes have to work together yet again。 Koichi and Pop Step help Detective Tsukauchi and Eraser Head with information for the undercover mission that Eraser Head, Fat Gum, and Kaniyashiki undertake, looking into a corporation they suspect to be creating these genetically modified villains (which is both eye-opening and hilarious)。 Since this is a prequel, I have a sneaking suspicion that this is linking to a huge villain in the main series, as there are many similarities to the creatures they use。Koichi gets more of the spotlight in this one, after taking a bit of a backseat in previous volumes to let characters like Knuckleduster and Pop Step take centre stage。 He goes up against some villains with Captain Celebrity, and it's really cool to see how much his Quirk has grown。 Although, it's also a bit heart-breaking。 You'd see how cool of a hero he might have become if he'd just made it onto the hero course he applied for。 He's got both the ability and the heart to become a great hero。Speaking of Captain Celebrity, if you've read my previous reviews, you'll know I disliked this character。 He's arrogant and selfish, and extremely irritating, but in this volume he gets some great character development。 He's slowly losing his selfish nature and becoming a true hero。 We get to see how his Quirk actually works, and it turns out he's actually pretty damn powerful。 He could give All Might a run for his money。 Where All Might is strong and charming, C。C。 is fast and cunning。 We also get a look into his backstory, in particular how he met his wife that we hear so much about as he's always in trouble with her, and how he's not as awful as we originally thought him to be。 He's become rather likable in my eyes now。This volume ended on a huge cliffhanger, slap bang in the middle of a battle, leaving us wondering after the fate of certain characters。 I'm excited to pick up the next one!My Blog 。。。more

Captain Celebrity has really grown on me。 He is a hero and his “I can take these punches all day” reminds me of Captain America。 His team up with Koichi was my favourite part of this volume, and his romance with his wife。 He really is trying to change his ways and maybe, just maybe, he’s misunderstood。 Fatherhood definitely suits him。This volume was part hero comic, part police show, part disaster movie。 The Tokyo Sky Tree (Egg) has been bombed by giant flying suicide bomber creatures and a lot Captain Celebrity has really grown on me。 He is a hero and his “I can take these punches all day” reminds me of Captain America。 His team up with Koichi was my favourite part of this volume, and his romance with his wife。 He really is trying to change his ways and maybe, just maybe, he’s misunderstood。 Fatherhood definitely suits him。This volume was part hero comic, part police show, part disaster movie。 The Tokyo Sky Tree (Egg) has been bombed by giant flying suicide bomber creatures and a lot of heroes are here to save the day。 Best Jeanist has a kind of weird, but actually very useful quirk and he really came through。 It was epic seeing him put the tower back up。 But it was even cooler seeing CC hold it up by himself and taking blows that entire time。 The police work and investigation was actually very enjoyable to see and I’m quite interested in seeing what Knuckduster’s part in all this is going to be, once he shaves。Koichi just grows and grows as a vigilante。 He knows his strengths and his weaknesses, that’s what makes him great。 He does his best and holds the fort until someone stronger can come finish the job。 That’s good enough for him and good enough for me。 。。。more

Review of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Vol。 5 - My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Vol。 7。Ever since Knuckleduster left the series in volume 4, it seems to want to focus on Pop Step's musical career。 Which has always been a side story in the series but never so prominent, it's kind of dull。 I picked up this series because of the Vigilante aspect and them taking down druggies。 But it's turned Crawler into a side character, who's only serving a side kick to Eraser Head and Midnight。 I never wanted the Review of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Vol。 5 - My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Vol。 7。Ever since Knuckleduster left the series in volume 4, it seems to want to focus on Pop Step's musical career。 Which has always been a side story in the series but never so prominent, it's kind of dull。 I picked up this series because of the Vigilante aspect and them taking down druggies。 But it's turned Crawler into a side character, who's only serving a side kick to Eraser Head and Midnight。 I never wanted them to be sidekicks but it's been 3 volumes now and I doubt it'll go back to them standing on their own two feet。 This series also seems to be learning far to much on the main title, with all the characters being pulled over even All Might。 This series used to be so much better than this, it could stand on it's own feet。 In fact when I read My Hero Academia, Vol。 1, I didn't like it and hated Deku, then I started this series loved it, so I gave it another try。 Now this series is just boring, I really didn't like this volume, it's only for the heartfelt flashback that I'm giving this two stars。 If it could just write the series with that much passion instead of going hey look who it is。 Also what is Crawlers power supposed to be, his quirk was speed crawling then it was to sticking on walls and now he can shoot things out of his hands。 Well Which is it? They can only have one quirk, if the story was good then I wouldn't be so damn picking but it's just so out of the blue。 He has nothing else to offer, they also seem to have stolen the multi quirk ability from the main series, the less said about that the better。 。。。more
