Summary

Theodore Finch is fascinated by death。 Every day he thinks of ways he might kill himself, but every day he also searches for—and manages to find—something to keep him here, and alive, and awake。

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her small Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death。

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school—six stories above the ground— it’s unclear who saves whom。 Soon it’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself。 And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them。 But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink。 。 。 。

I think this book is the worst i’ve cried about。 Like my ugly cry。 I finished it about 15minutes ago and i’m still processing and crying。 I don’t understand。 I love the characters so much and the plot and their relationship。 They fit each other so well。 The way their personalities bounce of each other。 This author is amazing because i fell in love with both of them。

This book truly explores the depth and complexities of a high school relationship。 The beauty in the quote "Sometimes in the darkest places, we find the brightest light," has stuck with me since I read the novel for the first time, as I feel that it is applicable to everyday life。 This book truly explores the depth and complexities of a high school relationship。 The beauty in the quote "Sometimes in the darkest places, we find the brightest light," has stuck with me since I read the novel for the first time, as I feel that it is applicable to everyday life。 。。。more

I first read it when I was 12 (now looking back probably not the most mature of ages to be able to understand the content of the book) but even back then it had such a deep effect on me and the way of looking at life and that there is more to life beyond grief and pain。 You just sometimes need a light that will guide you out of that pain and Jennifer Niven perfectly depicts that within the tragic but beautiful relationship of Finch and Violet。

This book took my heart and tore it into a million pieces 😭😭😭 I was crying so hard at the end of the book because it was so flipping heartbreaking! However, I got through it and I enjoyed this book a lot。 I liked how mental illness was portrayed in a way that is so very, very realistic and Violet and Finch as characters broke my heart throughout the book。 After I finished the book, the main idea I got out of All the Bright Places was to live life to the fullest with the best people in your life b This book took my heart and tore it into a million pieces 😭😭😭 I was crying so hard at the end of the book because it was so flipping heartbreaking! However, I got through it and I enjoyed this book a lot。 I liked how mental illness was portrayed in a way that is so very, very realistic and Violet and Finch as characters broke my heart throughout the book。 After I finished the book, the main idea I got out of All the Bright Places was to live life to the fullest with the best people in your life because you never know when they will vanish from your life。 。。。more

'All the Bright Places' by Jennifer Niven is a young-adult book revolving around two teenagers Violet and Finch。 How these two teenagers were broken, depressed and hallowed, and rediscovered themselves in each other。 How they went against the odds to be together。 The book is sweet, romantic, adventurous and also sad as it addresses trauma after losing a loved one, whether from an accident or a suicide。 The description of grief and loss is so accurate that you can feel yourself jump out of skin a 'All the Bright Places' by Jennifer Niven is a young-adult book revolving around two teenagers Violet and Finch。 How these two teenagers were broken, depressed and hallowed, and rediscovered themselves in each other。 How they went against the odds to be together。 The book is sweet, romantic, adventurous and also sad as it addresses trauma after losing a loved one, whether from an accident or a suicide。 The description of grief and loss is so accurate that you can feel yourself jump out of skin and feel those emotions all over again (if you have felt them before)。 。。。more

For a large portion of the book, I had my review already written in my head: typical boy-girl YA with splashes of sanitized mental illness and venturing outside of comfort zones。 I would’ve given it three stars。 The way this book picks up and how it ends earned it a fourth star。 Probably four and a half。 I knew shit would get real but I didn’t expect the author to get that real, and that’s something I know YA readers appreciate。

This book changed my life。 It both broke my heart and fixed it。 This is book is a book that will leave you breathless and thinking," HOLY CRAP! That was。。。 incredible。" Beautifully written from both Violet and Finch's prospective, it shows how you never truly know what someone might be going through, whether it's at home, with friends, or simply in their mind。 It shows while someone might seem happy on the outside, it doesn't mean they are on the inside。 I fell in love with this book as soon as This book changed my life。 It both broke my heart and fixed it。 This is book is a book that will leave you breathless and thinking," HOLY CRAP!
