Great action-packed thriller that will leave you breathless

I love a good thriller。。。but this wasn't it。 Though it featured, obviously, a highly-marketable hook, the plot had numerous holes, with writing and characterization that were, mostly, amateurish。 However, I must say I enjoyed the flight attendant crew of Jo, Big Daddie, and Kellie。 I love a good thriller。。。but this wasn't it。 Though it featured, obviously, a highly-marketable hook, the plot had numerous holes, with writing and characterization that were, mostly, amateurish。 However, I must say I enjoyed the flight attendant crew of Jo, Big Daddie, and Kellie。 。。。more

A flight to New York from LA has just boarded。 There are 144 passengers on this aircraft。 This is just another normal day for the pilot and flight attendants。 Except it isn’t … A half hour before the pilot got on board to fly the plane, his family was kidnapped。 The pilot, once the plane takes off, soon learns that in order for his family to live he must crash the plane and kill everyone。 Does the pilot crash the plane and kill the innocent passengers on the aircraft in order to save his family A flight to New York from LA has just boarded。 There are 144 passengers on this aircraft。 This is just another normal day for the pilot and flight attendants。 Except it isn’t … A half hour before the pilot got on board to fly the plane, his family was kidnapped。 The pilot, once the plane takes off, soon learns that in order for his family to live he must crash the plane and kill everyone。 Does the pilot crash the plane and kill the innocent passengers on the aircraft in order to save his family or does he land safely and have his family killed? The decision is in the pilot’s hands。 What will he choose?WOW! Talk about one wild horrifying story that kept me captivated since the beginning。 The author had a way of writing this so well that it made me feel like I was on board the aircraft。 I thought it was very believable。 The story and the main characters were developed perfectly。 This was such a different thriller and one that I can’t recommend enough for you to check out soon! It also was really cool to learn that the author was a flight attendant herself! 。。。more

5 stars for its non-stop action。 5 stars for the one-of-a-kind premise。 5 stars for that ride of my life feeling。 Not 5 stars like it’s going on my favorite reads of all time list。 Put aside the whole weekend to read this because from the first page you will have a hard time putting this down。 I purposely saved it until I was done with my summer travels and that turned out to be the best decision of my life。 No one will get me on a plane again for a good while。 And thank you for giving me the be 5 stars for its non-stop action。 5 stars for the one-of-a-kind premise。 5 stars for that ride of my life feeling。 Not 5 stars like it’s going on my favorite reads of all time list。 Put aside the whole weekend to read this because from the first page you will have a hard time putting this down。 I purposely saved it until I was done with my summer travels and that turned out to be the best decision of my life。 No one will get me on a plane again for a good while。 And thank you for giving me the best few days off from my over busy, impossible job and taking my mind off all that waits for me tomorrow。When a book can take me away and I turn pages without a thought to what is going on around me - chatty husband, precious puppy, crazy cat, noisy oatmeal-eating adult children - I know that book deserves all my stars。 Sometimes all my stars are not for literary greatness to fill my mind but for a crazy ride to clear my mind。 。。。more

So, so good!

This was unfortunately a poorer version of Hostage and just didn’t meet the mark in story telling。 You do root for the amazing flight attendants but little else。Falling follows pilot Bill Hoffman as his flight gets hijacked from within。 Terrorists kidnap his family and force him to pick between them and his passengers。 This follows the typical plot line and resolves itself with the ending you think it will have。 Nothing special about this one。

Aleksandra Bacewicz

Fun thriller, filled with American bravado。 Easy read。

I’ve never been on a plane but this novel made me feel like I was on one。 I really enjoyed this book。 The anxiety and fear Newman put into it was real。

Over-hyped…I want this publisher’s marketing agent however!

I listened to Steven Weber narrate this book。 OMG!! The book was great, as was the narration。 I couldn't stop listening!!There were a couple of outdated stereotypes and one scene that I felt was a little farfetched, however the overall book was so good that these didn't know any stars off。 I listened to Steven Weber narrate this book。 OMG!! It was a page turner! Predictable in spots but a good read!

I’ve done nothing since I woke up this morning except read this book because I could not function as a human being until I finished。 It’s edge of your seat from start to finish, 4。5 stars! They better make a movie out of this right☝🏼now☝🏼

3。5 stars。 Felt like a tv thriller。 Well crafted and relatively predictable yet still resulting in a fun quick beach read。 A race against time as terrorists highjack a plane bound for NYC。 Placing a post 9/11 country on high alert, the plane’s captain must mastermind the safety of his passengers and crew while bargaining with the terrorists who’ve also kidnapped his wife and children, as leverage。 Basically Sophie’s Choice if Sophie were an airline pilot。

3。5* the ending just completely took me out of the story unfortunately

Terry Isaac

A readers digest, over dramatized drivel of a read。 I could have given it 2 stars, but then she decided to have a World Series game continue on in the midst of a national catastrophe。

Nancy Schneider

A propulsive thriller that reminded me of the old Airport movies。 Hold on tight for quite a ride! May not be literary magnificence, but it certainly is entertaining。

Lyle Boylen

A debut novel that reads like something a veteran writer would put out。 This story grabs you and doesn't let go。 A debut novel that reads like something a veteran writer would put out。 This story grabs you and doesn't let go。 。。。more

It’s a perfect, light, quick, holiday read。 The initial premise is good but after a while I lost belief in the rationale and motivation of the terrorists。 The detailed descriptions of airline protocols and procedures helped keep me interested although the author does say in the acknowledgements that these were not all strictly accurate in case it became a handbook for hijackers!

3。5* rounded up

This one was super fun, but it felt like it wrapped up so quickly after all that suspense。 Also the reasoning for the entire attack just felt。。。。 idk。 Off? Anyway, an enjoyable quick read!

Jeanne

Really liked this book。 Very exciting! Lots of enjoyable tension! A page turner!

I picked up this book as an impulse buy and glad I did。 I was quickly engrossed into the story。 This was an easy read and the characters easy to show empathy。The story was well written and will look out for more from the author。

3。5: I finished it in one day。 It was definitely entertaining and very much like a Harrison Ford Air Force One or Die Hard movie。 I just didn't absolutely love it。 3。5: I finished it in one day。 It was definitely entertaining and very much like a Harrison Ford Air Force One or Die Hard movie。 I just didn't absolutely love it。 。。。more

As the GOAT Steve Miller Band once sang, “Big ol’ jet airliner, don’t carry me too far away”… Newman does exactly that – she uses words as literary vessels and absolutely transports readers the hell away from reality and catapults them to a steel bird in the FREAKIN SKY!!!!!Picture this: Lauren, an extremely finnicky bookworm, opening up to page 1 of Newman’s debut novel, bobbing along in a pool float in the 104 degree sunshine in Los Angeles, CA。 Fast forward three hours later (yes, THREE HOURS As the GOAT Steve Miller Band once sang, “Big ol’ jet airliner, don’t carry me too far away”… Newman does exactly that – she uses words as literary vessels and absolutely transports readers the hell away from reality and catapults them to a steel bird in the FREAKIN SKY!!!!!Picture this: Lauren, an extremely finnicky bookworm, opening up to page 1 of Newman’s debut novel, bobbing along in a pool float in the 104 degree sunshine in Los Angeles, CA。 Fast forward three hours later (yes, THREE HOURS), not only sunburned and dizzy from the sweltering heat, but tear stricken and overcome with emotion after finishing Falling, cover to cover, in a turbulent THREE HOURS。 I devoured this book like the decadent caviar they serve in first class, babyyYYyYyYY! Trust me when I say that there were no ”fasten your seatbelts, we are ready for takeoff” warnings! I was left absolutely breathless and hanging by my bikini top strap right away from page 1 of this nonstop page turner (!!!!!) as Newman gets right down to the nitty n’ gritty within the opening pages (just the way mama likes it!)。This was a completely immersive reading experience as I felt so overwhelmingly emotionally invested in the characters; Carrie and the babeehs, Captain Bill Hoffman, and the INCREDIBLE in-flight crew (Jo & Big Daddy – you gave me chills and your bravery made me cry)。 Would Captain Hoffman sacrifice his family to ensure the safe landing of flight 416, who is responsible for the plane hijacking, will the crew maintain calm and how on Earth will they navigate the worst case scenario on a flight?!?!!T。J。 my darling, you are an absolute force to be reckoned with。 While your background of working as a bookseller and flight attendant (wow, just wow <3) helped in writing your debut novel, know that your true purpose is to write captivating, dazzling novels and continue to wow readers everywhere。P。S。 I love my mom as much as you love yours <3333333333333333333 。。。more

Full review (maybe) to come。 Highly unfortunate timing for this to become available off my library holds based on current world events。 Quick and dirty: 2。5 stars。 Fast paced and very readable (though full of eye roll inducing improbability), had some great characters, and will probably make a better movie than it did a book。 Though absolutely it should have a motive/"bad guy" tweak。 I am not on board with it as written, at all。 (Intentional terrible pun) Full review (maybe) to come。 Highly unfortunate timing for this to become available off my library holds based on current world events。 Quick and dirty: 2。5 stars。 Fast paced and very readable (though full of eye roll inducing improbability), had some great characters, and will probably make a better movie than it did a book。 Though absolutely it should have a motive/"bad guy" tweak。 I am not on board with it as written, at all。 (Intentional terrible pun) 。。。more
