Summary

Full of fascinating detail of desert life and Bedouin beliefs, The Leadership of Muhammad highlights the leadership skills displayed by Muhammad and allows you to share in his wisdom。 John Adair weaves the story of Muhammad's life together with aspects of Bedouin culture, tribal leadership and ancient proverbs, to provide key points for leaders and aspiring leaders。

In Islamic thought, model leaders were simultaneously both exalted and humble, capable of vision and inspiration, yet at the same time dedicated to the service of their people。 In The Leadership of Muhammad the author discusses this ideal leadership and the essential attributes of a leader such as courage, integrity, practical wisdom, and moral authority and humility。

Very good but Muslims should read Joel Hayward's new book, The Leadership of Muhammad。 Hayward is both a Muslim and an historian, something John Adair is not。 This gives Hayward a huge advantage in terms of the Islamic sources he uses as well as his intimate knowledge of Rasul Allah's (s) blessed life。 Having said that, I did find Adair's book really nice to read (I read it in one evening, to be honest), and it taught me a lot, not about Rasul Allah (s) but about the Bedouin lifestyle。 Very good but Muslims should read Joel Hayward's new book, The Leadership of Muhammad。 Hayward is both a Muslim and an historian, something John Adair is not。 This gives Hayward a huge advantage in terms of the Islamic sources he uses as well as his intimate knowledge of Rasul Allah's (s) blessed life。 Having said that, I did find Adair's book really nice to read (I read it in one evening, to be honest), and it taught me a lot, not about Rasul Allah (s) but about the Bedouin lifestyle。 。。。more

In this book Muhammad was shown as a human leader but not holy person。 It is really good to see how non-Muslim people research and write his leadership skills。

Scattered ideas here and there。 The book's title is the Leadership of Muhammad while most of the content is about Bedouins and Arabs。 Scattered ideas here and there。 The book's title is the Leadership of Muhammad while most of the content is about Bedouins and Arabs。 。。。more

It is in Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) role as a Prophet, that we today still can witness what is meant to be a  great leader。

An invaluable resource that focuses on how the Prophet Mohammed's (s) upbringing in Bedouin Arabia prepared him to take up the leadership position ordained by God。 It goes through his key characteristics demonstrating his capability as a leader, relaying stories and narrations that some Muslims may be less familiar with。 I personally found it fascinating。 It's a straightforward, short read, written from a non-Muslim, Leadership Studies perspective。 Most facts and narrations are backed up with re An invaluable resource that focuses on how the Prophet Mohammed's (s) upbringing in Bedouin Arabia prepared him to take up the leadership position ordained by God。 It goes through his key characteristics demonstrating his capability as a leader, relaying stories and narrations that some Muslims may be less familiar with。 I personally found it fascinating。 It's a straightforward, short read, written from a non-Muslim, Leadership Studies perspective。 Most facts and narrations are backed up with references, but there are a few remarks made in passing which were questionable, and where the author doesn't make an effort to state differences in opinion among Islamic scholars。 For example, one of the lines state it is strange that the Prophet didn't appoint a successor。 Despite this, there is a good range of quotes included, from Nahjul Balagha to Ibn Khuldun。 。。。more

"The Leadership of Muhammad" by John Adair focuses mainly on qualities that an ideal leader should have giving references from the Prophet (SAW)'s life。 I personally think some of the most important leadership events from the Prophet (SAW)'s life were missing from this book。 The decisions he took during crucial times, for instance, the Hudaybiyyah Treaty and the way he united the Arabs in difficult conditions despite the hardships were also not touched。 As mentioned at the beginning by the write "The Leadership of Muhammad" by John Adair focuses mainly on qualities that an ideal leader should have giving references from the Prophet (SAW)'s life。 I personally think some of the most important leadership events from the Prophet (SAW)'s life were missing from this book。 The decisions he took during crucial times, for instance, the Hudaybiyyah Treaty and the way he united the Arabs in difficult conditions despite the hardships were also not touched。 As mentioned at the beginning by the writer, this book is by no means a biography of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)。 I admire the writer's honesty about admitting his limitations about the topic。 Its a good experience to learn about the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)'s life from the pen of someone who tries to objectively analyze his leadership qualities without having a religious attachment to him。 I liked the book overall, but found it very primitive, without an intellectual touch。。 。。。more

i love that it shows Muhammad SAW as a perfect role model, not just spiritually but also, in this context, as a leader。 there were times that the writes did not focus on Muhammad, which is weird given the title of the book。 nevertheless i still like the book。

I had high expectations for this book after listening to a talk by the speaker introducing it and after receiving recommendations from friends who had read it before me。 Reading it, however, I couldn't help feel a little disappointed。 It's a small book (this I knew before I bought it) and, even then, the mention of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his examples of leadership are few and far between。 Each chapter (there are eight) takes one concept of leadership exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), elabor I had high expectations for this book after listening to a talk by the speaker introducing it and after receiving recommendations from friends who had read it before me。 Reading it, however, I couldn't help feel a little disappointed。 It's a small book (this I knew before I bought it) and, even then, the mention of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his examples of leadership are few and far between。 Each chapter (there are eight) takes one concept of leadership exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), elaborates on why it is important and explains how it ties to the Bedouin/Arabian society that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) lived within。 Overall, a great idea for a book and not a bad book, but not quite living up to its potential and my expectation。 。。。more

The author mentioned Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a very positive way as he represented the leadership skills through him by mentioning some of his life's stories。 He also focused on the elements in his surrounding environment that helped making a good leader out of him。 As a muslim, I am happy that the content is fair, but it is not that interesting for me。 The author mentioned Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a very positive way as he represented the leadership skills through him by mentioning some of his life's stories。 He also focused on the elements in his surrounding environment that helped making a good leader out of him。 As a muslim, I am happy that the content is fair, but it is not that interesting for me。 。。。more

The key highlights at the end of every chapter help recap its intent。 It isn't a holistic view of Muhammad's leadership but key insights as to how the Prophet led the ummah。 It would be a good read for those who are looking for an overview of why the Prophet remains as a role model throughout time。 The key highlights at the end of every chapter help recap its intent。 It isn't a holistic view of Muhammad's leadership but key insights as to how the Prophet led the ummah。 It would be a good read for those who are looking for an overview of why the Prophet remains as a role model throughout time。 。。。more

。。。more

Obeida Takriti

Most inspiring part is relating the art of shepherding to the leadership and it's impact on the life of Muhammad (P。B。U。H)。 Interestingly i had a chance of meeting a person familiar with shepherding while reading the book, i was amazed to know that often sheepherders even have names for each and every sheep and they exactly know the strengths and weakness of every individual。 The important lesson for leadership while seeing the bigger picture never forget the individual needs。I believe that life Most inspiring part is relating the art of shepherding to the leadership and it's impact on the life of Muhammad (P。B。U。H)。 Interestingly i had a chance of meeting a person familiar with shepherding while reading the book, i was amazed to know that often sheepherders even have names for each and every sheep and they exactly know the strengths and weakness of every individual。 The important lesson for leadership while seeing the bigger picture never forget the individual needs。I believe that life Muhammad (P。B。U。H) lived is a practical guide for each every individual, andThe Leadership of Muhammad has connected modern day leadership with the wisdom。I will say that this book was well researched and well written。 。。。more
