Very good guide to Music Theory。

Part II is a lot of more advanced that Part I and for amateurs, a lot less essential。A lot of the book covers orchestra instruments: how they work and their range。There is also a section on counterpoint but the text in this book just served to confuse me rather than improve my understanding。 There are better sources of information elsewhere on that。For amateurs I'd still highly recommend Part I for a great overview of the fundamentals of music theory, but I'd suggest just reading the table of co Part II is a lot of more advanced that Part I and for amateurs, a lot less essential。A lot of the book covers orchestra instruments: how they work and their range。There is also a section on counterpoint but the text in this book just served to confuse me rather than improve my understanding。 There are better sources of information elsewhere on that。For amateurs I'd still highly recommend Part I for a great overview of the fundamentals of music theory, but I'd suggest just reading the table of contents and finding better sources for any chapters that interest you in this book。 。。。more

This is the 2nd book of the AB Guide to Music Theory for higher grades of the ABRSM theory exams (grade 6-8)。 My teacher gave me this book as a present :)A really good book when it comes to preparing for the higher grade theory exams。 But, you can't only have this book when it comes to higher grades。 My teacher used various of different books to teach me about harmony, counterpoint, contrapuntal, etc etcI don't use this book that often。 Because like I mentioned above, I need other books to help This is the 2nd book of the AB Guide to Music Theory for higher grades of the ABRSM theory exams (grade 6-8)。 My teacher gave me this book as a present :)A really good book when it comes to preparing for the higher grade theory exams。 But, you can't only have this book when it comes to higher grades。 My teacher used various of different books to teach me about harmony, counterpoint, contrapuntal, etc etcI don't use this book that often。 Because like I mentioned above, I need other books to help me with the Theory of Music。I gave this book 5 stars because I believe with this book, the person/student will be able to understand theory in a more higher level (not too high, but a good start of course)。I highly recommend this book to students of Music, teachers, and anyone who is interested in the Classical Music theories and it's rules etc。A Must have!Available at amazon, the ABRSM online shop, sheetmusicplus。com etc 。。。more

Lots of examples are given to elaborate more on each point。 It helps you understand how music is written, personally I'm enjoying the instruments chapters the most (strings, woodwind, brass, persuasions and keyboard)。 Though It's not an easy book but it's a must read for those studying music especially for higher grades。 Lots of examples are given to elaborate more on each point。 It helps you understand how music is written, personally I'm enjoying the instruments chapters the most (strings, woodwind, brass, persuasions and keyboard)。 Though It's not an easy book but it's a must read for those studying music especially for higher grades。 。。。more
