Summary

Lou Clark knows lots of things。 She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home。 She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick。
What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane。
Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live。 He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that。
What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour。 And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time。

I found this book very slow and predictable at first。 I was not super invested in picking it up and took longer than most books I read to finish it。 However the last 1/4 of the book really picked up and had me invested。 The ending really made me think and feel real emotions!

This book was something else。 I loved the film so much and the book was even better。 It was heartbreaking and it hurt me。 I love it。 Although it has some questionable things in it。

Difficult to describe how much I loved this! Such an extremely well researched book with a nuanced presentation of extremely difficult issues。 That was truly eye opening, and it certainly opened my tear glands and had me shipping like crazy! What also floored me was how relatable everyone felt! I have a feeling this is going to stay with me for a long long time for better or for worse!

It made me cry at the end 。 Tho it was quite funny at times when Lou was describing all the incidents or people in her sarcastic way。 And moments between Lou and WillI have watched the movie before but this book makes more impact than the movie。At some point I felt like not reading it because I've watched the movie but the scenes described in this book are beautiful。 I find it worth giving my time reading it。Well I would've have give it a 4 start But 1 special start for Lou efforts, her love, Wi It made me cry at the end 。 Tho it was quite funny at times when Lou was describing all the incidents or people in her sarcastic way。 And moments between Lou and WillI have watched the movie before but this book makes more impact than the movie。At some point I felt like not reading it because I've watched the movie but the scenes described in this book are beautiful。 I find it worth giving my time reading it。Well I would've have give it a 4 start But 1 special start for Lou efforts, her love, Will's love for Lou and that Lou accept his choice。Taking about Lou, at some points I can relate to her but I guess I am more like Katrina 😂。 Patrick isn't a bad guy it's just he was not the one for Lou and Lou wasn't the one for him。 I hope Patrick finds his love soon。 Lou family felt like a typical Indian family with drama n all I can relate I am from an Indian family as well 。。。 but it's fun as well Will。 Well from the story I can't make an exact opinion about him but it seems to me he is the one who enjoys freedom and he built a life for Lou。 Some people come in our lives and don't stay much longer but they make a huge impact on our lives and that's what Will didAnd I respect his choice as well。 Lou did the same for Will atleast when Will was happy at the end and I hope Lou will be happy as well。Mrs。 Traynor I can feel what she felt tho I am not a mother but I do feel how scary is it to imagine losing a loved one forever and she had to go through all this。 I guess Will is like her mother the stubborn soul and the caring one who can't express their love or care but they care alot about their lived onesConclusion "Some people share our life and dreams with us but some give their life and dreams to us because somewhere they know their most precious thing is in safe hands。 "I just love this story❤ 。。。more

I don’t think anyone would ever call me a hopeless romantic, but I really liked this story。 The ending was a bit obvious, but I didn’t mind。 Please read this one!

As Me Before You begins, Lou Clark the twenty-six-year-old female protagonist is leading a quintessential ordinary life in a small town in England。 As the story unfolds, she is launched into an unconventional romantic relationship with Will Traynor, the quadriplegic she has accepted a job to care for。 Ms。 Moyes does a skillful job of weaving depth into the characters of Lou and Will as well as the host of family members and friends who add colorful interest to the story。 Ultimately, Lou emerges As Me Before You begins, Lou Clark the twenty-six-year-old female protagonist is leading a quintessential ordinary life in a small town in England。 As the story unfolds, she is launched into an unconventional romantic relationship with Will Traynor, the quadriplegic she has accepted a job to care for。 Ms。 Moyes does a skillful job of weaving depth into the characters of Lou and Will as well as the host of family members and friends who add colorful interest to the story。 Ultimately, Lou emerges as a strong character who is anything but ordinary。 It is Will who helps her see the strengths she has overlooked in herself。The book deals with difficult themes including the challenges of quadriplegia and the lengths an individual might go to resolve them。 Its most important message for me is that although we may strive to change someone's ideas, the only thoughts we can change are our own。 Each of us is unique and we have the power within us to reach for and achieve goals that transcend the ordinary。Me Before You was a book I could not put down and whose message resonated with me for days after the final chapter ended。I highly recommend it。 。。。more

I get that Will is unhappy with the way his life is。 He's scared of future health problems。 But what would become of the world if we just let people who were struggling with their circumstance I found this book enjoyable at first, but the further along I got the more problems I had with it。 First of all, if Will hadn't been disabled, but suicidal, no one would have entertained the idea of him committing suicide。 It would simply never be an option。 So why is it an option when he becomes disabled? I get that Will is unhappy with the way his life is。 He's scared of future health problems。 But what would become of the world if we just let people who were struggling with their circumstances kill themselves?? I disagree with how the book justifies Will killing himself。 He is almost glorified for it, and it disgusts me。 I dislike how no one, not a single person, told Will the truth - that he was stuck reliving the past, and that he needed to 'get a grip,' like Treena tells Lou。 I understand that he was struggling, but he was constantly telling Lou that she only had one life, that she had to live it to the fullest, etc。 Why didn't that advice apply to himself? What, because he was disabled? Doesn't that send an awful message to readers? Near the end of the book, Will is described as having "strength of character" because no one could convince him not to kill himself。 I had to reread that part to make sure I wasn't seeing things。 What about the strength of character that it would take for him to stop living in the past? To make the most of the life he had? He complains about how people treat himself as a disabled person, but then refuses to see himself any differently。 He goes on and on about Lou never challenging herself but he never challenges himself either。 I think this book would have been so much better if he had realized by the end that his own advice applied to him, too。 I think everyone failed Will because they never told him the truth。 He was suicidal and he needed help, not for his family to bring him to Switzerland to die。 I understand that literature is about exploring other viewpoints。 I appreciate that the book tries to get you to at least empathize with Will, even if you don't agree with his choice。 But in its attempt to do so it brings a host of problematic messages to the surface。 I think, with such a relevant, sensitive topic, it's important to fully consider the messages that come with any portrayal of it and how they would impact real people。 It's romance, I know - it was never going to be revolutionary。 But it could've been so much better。 The book suggests that because your disabled and your struggling to adapt to your disability, it's acceptable to go and kill yourself。 As one of the few popular books with disabled representation, this message is extremely harmful。 Anyway, I have plenty of other problems with the book but I think I got the most pressing problems out there。 I'm giving it 3 stars because it was certainly thought-provoking and it had me intrigued until the end。 。。。more

This book is quite simply the best book I have ever read。 As with most books I read, I try to go in blind, not knowing what the book is about。 This book had me laughing, crying, and thinking about its characters long after I finished reading。 I highly recommend everyone read this book!

Inspiring and very sad story about a woman who is a caretaker for a paraplegic。 The character development was well done。

Easy read。 Rather depressing。 For such a heavy topic, it felt like there was something missing。 I particularly did not like that the main character would take that mental abuse。 Also, I did not care for the fact that she took the abuse because of the money and then at the end he left her money as part of his estate, as if that made everything alright。 Nope didn't like it。 Easy read。 Rather depressing。 For such a heavy topic, it felt like there was something missing。 I particularly did not like that the main character would take that mental abuse。 Also, I did not care for the fact that she took the abuse because of the money and then at the end he left her money as part of his estate, as if that made everything alright。 Nope didn't like it。 。。。more

Melodramatic。 Superficial。 Bestseller。Overall its something that can be considered appealing to young women or teenage girls。 Good movie material, considering it eventually did get one, that too with that GoT lassie cast as the heroine。 I enjoyed it as a casual holiday read, didn't mind the fact that one isn't any wiser after having read the book than before it。 Melodramatic。 Superficial。 Bestseller。Overall its something that can be considered appealing to young women or teenage girls。 Good movie material, considering it eventually did get one, that too with that GoT lassie cast as the heroine。 I enjoyed it as a casual holiday read, didn't mind the fact that one isn't any wiser after having read the book than before it。 。。。more

- Romanticized depiction of those struggling with money I don’t know how to explain this properly as a short note, but I personally don’t like the way it’s shown here。 Yes, every situation / individual is unique, but it annoys me that LC is so finicky with finding a job even though her family is depending on her income - as in, she is able to actually get hired in multiple locations but then chooses not to work there even though others would love to just be able to work。- Louisa Clark really cha - Romanticized depiction of those struggling with money I don’t know how to explain this properly as a short note, but I personally don’t like the way it’s shown here。 Yes, every situation / individual is unique, but it annoys me that LC is so finicky with finding a job even though her family is depending on her income - as in, she is able to actually get hired in multiple locations but then chooses not to work there even though others would love to just be able to work。- Louisa Clark really channeling ‘not like other girls’ energy- Disliking all the characters so far oof- Dislike the depiction of caretaking (coming from someone who took care of her grandfather)- Ableism - and a lot of it Doesn't include WT into conversations regarding him; considering him to be miserable because he's "stuck in a bloody wheelchair;" saying that people with disabilities are miserable; implying disability aids are 'not normal' (“The car looked like a normal people carrier from the outside”); ableist language (like using 'stupid' and 'idiot' casually)- Fat shaming- Listening to the voices from the disability community and the backlash over Will Traynor / euthanasia / tropes about characters with disabilities 。。。more

I really liked this novel but not as much as I enjoyed it the first time I read it a few years ago。 While I appreciated the friendship between Will and Louisa, because it really is a friendship, I can see where people have complained of ableism and how Will seemingly just exists to force Lou out of her comfort zone instead of being his own person。 I will read the rest of the trilogy but I hope they pass a bit faster than this one did。

Excellent audiobook of a loving love story between a carer and care recipient in the context of living with quadriplegia and assisted suicide。 One of my mom’s favorite movies, too。 Kinda a bummer though if, after finishing a good book on this topic, you have to go and euthanize your dog。 What a thing。

What can I say, they book had me entranced since I started to read。 I will say I was a bit disappointed about the ending however it was appropriate。 You felt Will's heartache and the choices he made and the journey he chose due to his circumstances。 Although I did not completely agree to an extent I understood that you cannot judge until you are in the other person's shoes。 As for Lou, you can't help feel her pain and just want to be there for her。 Knowing that she is stronger that she believes What can I say, they book had me entranced since I started to read。 I will say I was a bit disappointed about the ending however it was appropriate。 You felt Will's heartache and the choices he made and the journey he chose due to his circumstances。 Although I did not completely agree to an extent I understood that you cannot judge until you are in the other person's shoes。 As for Lou, you can't help feel her pain and just want to be there for her。 Knowing that she is stronger that she believes and hoping it will eventually be alright。 I can't wait to read the next book to see how this continues, are the characters really able to move on or use life's dealings as a stepping stone。 I highly recommend! 。。。more
